Some reviewers here seem to be the type that want big explosions, bombastic music blaring in your face and have all the questions answered for them. If you are one of them don't buy this film. If, however, you are into films that leave spaces for your own imagination and credit you with some intelligence then this film has a special place for you.

Bardem is good the rest of the film is boring crap

If you like films that literally take your breath away, then this goes to the top of the list. There's very little "good" in No Country for Old Men beyond the mesmerizing acting and viciously dark screenplay. Instead, the unholy trinity of temptation, cynicism and pure, dark, evil take center stage in this modern western directed by brothers Joel and Ethan Coen. Based on the 2003 novel by Cormac McCarthy, the movie unfolds in the dusty Texas borderlands as hunter Llewelyn Moss (Josh Brolin) stumbles upon the remnants of a desert drug deal gone bad, complete with a case containing two million dollars. Succumbing to temptation, Moss makes off with the money setting in motion a chain of events that leaves a trail of blood spattered carnage across the State as he is pursued by the ruthless, coin tossing hit man Anton Chigurh (Javier Bardem) among whose killing weapons of choice is a pneumatic air gun. No Country for Old Men is one of the best pictures of the year, even if it is flawed. Its brilliance and lasting impact with leave you haunted!

I love all films, but this just far fetched, the maniac is killing dozens of people including a sheriff in the middle of the street and no one cares, bad acting and it's seems like the two million dollars everyone is after is probably the budget for the film, the director probably thought let's use our budget in the film... Left too many questions, main character lywellen dies and his wife off camera, the other bloke who is supposed to be good at what he does dies shortly after, and no one can trace this murderer and the sheriff is restricted to the cafe drinking his coffee and reading his paper while massacre is happenin in Texas, the maniac walks off into the distance and tommy lee jones sits at his table talking about a dream!

I was honestly stunned reading all the 5* reviews on here... I have never been so bored in my life than I was watching this film. I didn't understand the plot but carried on watching thinking that then end would make it all clear.... But it didn't. Serious disappointment.

I goes without saying that this is one of the greatest films made. It shows you the changing times in America and how things have become more sinister even though there is still a few good men left.

You're an idiot if you dislike this film. A masterpiece.

Anybody who says this film is bad simply doesn't understand the story. It is one of the greatest movies ever

This was probably the most boring film I have EVER watched! I watched it with 2 friends, and I just about managed to sit through it, until the end, when I fell asleep! THEN I woke up and was told that the bit I missed was the only good bit! This film has no music, which made it terrible enough, but I didn't think the plot was particularly interesting, it was quite repetative, and I would NEVER recommend this to anyone!

Saw it when it came out. Recommend it to anybody who likes this sort of film.

Keeps you on edge in places and does not disappoint although I did not think it quite worth five stars.

Absolutely nothing happens in the last 30 minutes of this film. The film doesn't end at all. It makes no sense.

I am sick if silly writers trying to make new age storylines and forgetting to keep the watcher entertained to the end.

Boring

Fantastic film. There were a couple of loose ends in the story that weren't fully explained, but overall an excellent movie. Highly recommended.

One of the best films ever made. Has got me reading some of Mccarthy's books, which are also great.

An excellent movie with some great characters. Like the book it takes a little while to adjust to the style but once you have the storyline keeps moving towards a seemingly unavoidable ending.

This film (for anyone who has never see it before) will be amazing had me glued to the screen the whole time, really very good

One of those films you will get to the end of and wonder why you wasted 2 hours on it. The main psycho character is very good, but beyond that you want him to fail at some point not just walk off into the distance. Woody Harleson turns up to say literally I'm the best of the best I'll track and kill this guy. Next scene he's still in the same room and killed. Didn't even leave to find him he was found and elimated how stupid. The guy who gets the money at the beginning runs round like a headless chicken nothing he does in the film gives him any credit or memorable moments to talk about. His girlfriend you can only presume is killed but there's nothing to say she is or isn't. All in all you may waste a couple of minutes reading this but it'll save you wasting your time on this film.

I would recommend this film to anyone the plot is brilliant as is the acting keeps you on the edge of your seat but i got this film for £3 in HMV

If you want a good story this is 10/10, want good acting? 10/10.

Not very impressed at all! A great film, I downloaded it in English to find the audio is German despite reading "English". What a waste of money.

a brilliant film and never get boring

I knew nothing about the movie before renting it & was pleasantly surprised. Javier Bardem was just too cool & though there isn't much dialogue, the acting more than makes up for it. The absence of a soundtrack heightened the suspense. Well worth owning!

I looked at this film thinking it must be good to have won awards and get such good reviews but then when i came to watch it was really really bored, the story just doesnt make sense and its just a rubbish film to be perfectly honest. dont bother buying it.

Apart from this id never seen a film by the coen brothers but after i saw this i want to see more, this film is a great plot with all the actors fitting there parts very well i can see why this film won a number of awards and for just £4.00, sometimes itunes will not have good prices but for a film like this its like a give away.

This film is great considering the massive gun that he has, all i wish is that there was less violence and that syko was less scarier. But i advise you to buy this film but you must listen carefully to the ending because its also a puzzle. Kinda.

Brilliant

Below average film, expected a to be held in my seat, seems to be just a selection of clips put together giving a thin story line. Had the makings of a good thriller but turned out to be a wet fish.

Caution when purchasing this film. My version downloaded in German for some reason.

I have bought this twice and both times the ENGLISH download has been in GERMAN, firstly I was refunded my purchase price, but told that "iTunes terms of sale are final and this is a on-off". So, considering it was apparently me at fault, I bought it again, only to find it is once again in German.

DO NOT PURCHASE UNTIL iTUNES FIX THIS

This is one of the worst movies Coens have done in years. Can't understand why everybody is raving about it, honestly, we have seen better from the brothers. Bardem is good, but, but, but, but this is not his best movie, those who can be bothered please watch some of his Spanish movies to see the difference. iTunes, your collection of international movies do really want me cry.

A spellbinding film. Holds your attention from start to finish. Tommy Lee Jones in any film is worth watching.

Loved this film! Pretty gruesome at times but made me jump out of my skin on more than one occasion. (much to the amusement of other passengers on the train!) Apparently I am told it is typical "Coen" although I have not watched other Coen films. It was not the type of movie I thought I was renting, but enjoyed it more than I expected and that is why I give it 5 stars.

This is one of the best Thrillers I have seen in ages. Well worth a watch. Javier Bardem was made for this role. Enjoy!
