Description

STEVEN SPIELBERG and GEORGE LUCAS bring you the greatest adventurer of all time in “a nonstop thrill ride” (Richard Corliss, TIME) that’s packed with “sensational, awe-inspiring spectacles” (Roger Ebert, CHICAGO SUN-TIMES). Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull finds Indy (Harrison Ford) trying to outrace a brilliant and beautiful agent (Cate Blanchett) for the mystical, all-powerful crystal skull of Akator. Teaming up with a rebellious young biker (Shia LaBeouf) and his spirited original love Marion (Karen Allen), Indy takes you on an action-packed adventure in the exciting tradition of the classic Indiana Jones movies!

Quite disappointing for George Lucas and Steven Spielberg. The fx is okay for a film trilogy that has won oscars and is well known for its special effects! Also there are no stunts. It's all CGI. Some of the acting is poor and the dialogue sometimes makes no sense! However, there are iconic moments and the action is spectacular. I don't know why people don't like the idea of an alien being in the film. In the last three films there are melting faces, madmen ripping people's hearts out and men ageing rapidly, I don't know what people are complaining about. In the end, nothing stops this movie from being a good fun and witty Indiana Jones film!

Great Adventure!

The Star Wars prequels were a pretty good sign that George Lucas has lost the plot for making decent films.Harrison, hate to say it,is too old to be convincing, some of the CGI is not at all good & the whole idea just feels dead in the water.
Time to lay Indie to rest,oh,& why not Star Wars while you're at it.

An insult to the memory of the others

The minute you see the CGI gopher about minute in, you'll know this isn't going to be a patch on the others. Like the new Star Wars films, George Lucas insults his fans with huge amounts of computerised special effects (we can TELL they're not real, George) and a super-lame script. What a waste of the actors. Do yourself a favour a pretend this never got made.

I think that this movie is good, but very patchy. It storyline is poor, Shia lebouf is crap though Harrison Ford still is a marvellous actor. Good special effects and fight scenes make a good watch for a family who are really bored and need some excitement.

It's just about ok. Having loved all the other Indianer Jones Films I must admit I was a bit disappointed by this one. If you loved the other ones and you can help it, don't watch this one, it'll be a bit of a downer. Unless of course your sense of continuity won't allow it.

if you have seen 1,2,3 you will be let down by this flim compared to the others....BUT you have to see it because its the perect way to end the trilogy! it ties up lose ends and it has everything an indie film should! hey if you want to see the classic indiana jones then THATS what this film is full of! if you like the other 3 then you wont hate this one, but you may not love it...just think its ok

This film was bought for me as a Christmas present, has to be worst present ever. I loved every Indy film apart from this one. The plot, the actors, the story everything was horrid worse film i have watched. It was great when he was against the Germans I don't know why they changed the formula that worked and it had the comedy element too. The whole thing looked like it was just shot in CGI too. Everyone I spoken to about this film say the same thing too, what a waste of time. The South Park episode which took the micheal out of it best sums up this film.

Seriously?

One of my all-time screen heroes has come to the end of his 'script writers' tether! An anti climax to be sure but if you are prepared to take your brain out for 2 hours and just relax watching Indy battle Russians instead of Nazi's, then this is the film for you! The characters along side Indy were poor at times but they did have their moments, John Hurt had a part that could've been played by my granddad! No where near his potential! Ray Winstone could've had a much better character that lived up to his reputation as a hard nut. All in all you have to see it to give your own opinion on Indiana Jones' last adventure?

I went to see this at the cinema and i did enjoy it. I must confess that i've never been a fan of indiana jones but i did like this one and it is the best out of the saga. The new characters are good, Shia LaBeouf is brilliant and Cate Blanchett is ok. Action packed, tounge in cheek humor. Classic action hero hollywood movie...and if that's your thing, you'll love it!

...well I can tell u that the begging and middle are not but the ending is such an epic fail!! Very bad use of CGI. The acting is substantial but the story line has not been thoughtout because it doesn't come across clearly to the audience , and it's based on a true story but the skulls are really crystal because I saw the documentary on them and they tested the skulls.

Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull (2008)

Harrison Ford returns to his signature role in the fourth Indiana Jones film. The storyline is completely bonkers, even in comparison to past adventures of the famed archaeologist, but the sheer amount of fun the film has is overwhelming. Ford is without doubt the star of the show, with Shia LaBeouf playing his would-be successor and Cate Blanchett playing the sinister European villain. There are some truly nutty sequences, such as Shia LaBeouf swinging through the forest with a load of monkeys, and Ford surviving a nuclear explosion by hiding in a fridge. These are slightly detrimental to the almost-could-be-real tone set by the previous films but are outweighed by the excellence of other sequences, such as an encounter with bloodthirsty ants. The only real problem The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull has is it has very little threat. Indiana pretty much trots through the film, is captured once, escapes without breaking a sweat and almost effortlessly finds the Kingdom no-one has been able to find for centuries. Gone are the frightening Nazi henchmen of Raiders, the curses of Doom, or the lethal Grail selection of The Last Crusade. You can't help but wonder what the film would have been like if Lucas and Spielberg took Frank Darabont's script instead. However it remains a breezy romp with plenty of spectacle, a must-watch for fans.

Why did they ruin Indiana Jones?

I gave this movie 2 stars mostly because I liked movie 1 and 2 but if this was the first one it wouldn't deserve even 1 star! They RUINED Indiana Jones and I came back from the cinema very dissapointed. What was this about aliens? It is supposed to be about adventure and Indiana trying to get expensive object to put in a musium, not a sci fi movie! If you want to buy any Indiana movie buy 1 and 3. The temple of doom was as silly as this one but atleast it stuck to the first one and wasn't sci fi!

It belongs in a dustbin

The beaver, fridge, Indy being rescued with a snake, Shia labeouf becoming Tarzan/Zorro, John Hurt, Ray Winston just shouting "Jonesey", aliens and everything looking like it was shot on green screen all add to the biggest disappointment in the last 10 years. Truly awful and just plain lazy... See the first three and just ignore the last one and anyone who says it's brilliant should be whipped.

What was up with the ending????

I honestly used to love the Indiana Jones movies when I was a kid... the temple of doom was always my favourite, but I can't understand why everyone says Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is a film for Temple Of Doom fans... I loved Temple Of Doom and HATED Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull. The only reason why I haven't given it one star is because it's Indiana Jones and I could never do that to them... but seriously Aliens in a Indiana Jones movie???? did George Lucas get confused and think he was making Star Wars instead or something???? And why does Steven Spielberg feel the need to cast Shia LaBeouf in all of his films??? the guy can't act and is a complete idiot. I liked the way that they managed to make jokes out of Harrison Ford's age (even if they were cruel jokes at times) but even he could not save this filom for me... (and I used to REALLY fancy him when he was younger). So overall, watch it if you must, but only when it is on TV or rent it instead because you really must NOT waste your money on this ridiculously far-fetched film... however I did, unfortunately....

I have to give a rating for this film.......

Many of the reviews say that the aliens at the end was a lot if rubbish. However, that's exacty what indy is all about - things that seem impossible. Also, during this period there were many people who believed in UFOs and Extra Terrestial Life. The film lacks a bit but overall is a great film!!

I love indiana jones movies I think they are bloody brilliant. I am also an avid cinema goer even if a film is bad I will stay to see it all because it can redeem it self. This is the only film that I almost walked out on, the second they wipped out the alien 3 people in the cinema walked out and I wasnt going to be far behind but because it was an indiana jones film I stayed. Its total SH*T. Maybe a second watch may be less painful, I havent rented this or brought it but I thought I would give some of you a heads up!

Whilst many people were sceptical about seeing the return of Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones to the big screen, claiming he was too old, I for one was quite excited at the return of Dr Jones. I wouldn't say I was an avid Indy fan since I never really watch The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, but I did very much enjoy the original trilogy.
As for Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull, I would say overall that it was pretty good, and if you ignore the odd ridiculous things (such as in Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom where that guy rips peoples hearts out with his hand and they live to see it happen) then it was a very enjoyable watch.
SPOILER: But there was one big thing that annoyed me with the story. The original Indiana Jones trilogy always had a focus on religion and whilst this film does as well it takes it in a whole different direction. Basically all I am going to say is at the end of the film we see actual aliens and a flying saucer. Now in Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade that film took God to be real since he would have to be in order for the Holy Grail to be real. Now personally I don't see Aliens and God co-existing. It could just be me but that story element just didn't work for me as part of an Indiana Jones film. If you ignore that it is an Indiana Jones film then it works great, but then the rest of the story isn't as good. Or if you're a newcomer to Indy then I'm sure it'll work great for you, but it didn't sit well with me.
I don't think that Harrison Ford is too old to play Indiana Jones, but I do think that Indiana Jones is a bit old in this film. He seems rather out of place in this new world, which is set in the late 50s. Although that could be the intention as he's been through a lot in the 19 years since the events in Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade, such as World War II which we hear a little bit about.
I hope this is the last Indiana Jones film because it had a really good ending. However, it is rumoured that George Lucas is writting a fith Indiana Jones film. But I think they would just be exploiting Indiana Jones to make more money if they made another. People need to know when to call it the end.

Good but could have been better

Whilst I agree that the alien idea may be a little far fetched, lot of the reviewers on here seem to blame George Lucas for turning Indy IV into the fiasco that was the Star Wars prequel trilogy. George didn't write Indy IV like he did the prequel trilogy, it was a completely different person. Therefore you cannot blame George. As for the film itself, I thought the casting in it was brilliant and the way the storyline played out in the end was brilliant. John Williams has brought us another fantastic score that brings back memories of the original Indy trilogy. All-in-all an instant classic thats friendly to both family and action seeker.
