why no 4k upgrade? it's the only film out of the 5 thats not been done as at 28/02/21

even if it's not as good as the first three movies, I found it amazingly funny and full of entertaining action

So much cheaper for the four titles otherwise 3.5 stars good entertainment

£13.50 on amazon for 4 films on blue ray with extra disc…. so over priced!

Saw this 2 xs on Netflix but then they took it of so I've been stuck with Lego pirates of the Caribbean and they don't talk and I tried to get it on I tunes but they won't let me buy it coz Im1p down from getting it so I'm Savin up 😿😭😥😢😫😖😣😡

Well the love story between Miss Swan and Mr Turner is now complete we get a whole movie dedicated to our favourite character Jack Sparrow ..... The story is fun , the sceneries are fantastic (London looks amazing) and the acting is great. Well done for making this ,fans will love it and most critics get stressed out about a sequel let alone a forth instalment of a Franchise ........5 stars *****

I don't see why everyone's given this a bad review, I love this film! I've seen all the pirates of the Caribbean films, and, ok, this1 might not be the best- but it's full of action(most the time)

Not as good as other carribean films but depp always delivers.

Fourth time round. Okay once again Captain Jack Sparrow is back and like some others in the film is on the hunt for the fountain of youth. Okay good things; On Stranger Tides brings back 3 cast members from the first 3 films; Johnny Depp, Geoffry Rush and Kevin McNally. The rest of the cast are new. Ian McShane as Blackbeard was fantastic. He is one of the most menacing villains of the whole series. Penelope Cruz joins the cast as Angelica an old flame from Jack's past. She is fairly solid. Orlando Bloom and Kiera Knightly are out of the picture and instead we get a sort of brief love story between a missionary and a mermaid which is ok. The action scenes are fairly good although 1 or 2 were a bit sloppy. The story is also very good as well. The bad things are; there are issues with the pacing as its a bit all over the place, one minute it slows down, the next minute there's a bit more excitement and action. The mutiny action scene is a bit sloppy and could have been choreographed better. There's not much bad it's better than At World's End at least. Thankfully it's not as bloody long as Pirates 3, it's 136 minutes which is fine for a Pirates of the Caribbean film. I like the new cast as well as the 3 returning cast members. The best scene in the film is the mermaid scene at Whitecap Bay. Overall it's a really good entry into the Pirates of the Caribbean series and as far as the plot is concerned I doubt it will be the end. Worth a watch.

How many more of these are they gonna make? Boring rubbish. How many different ways can you make the same film?

This film really good

I think this Pirates of the Caribbean is OK but it annoys me with it not showing what rearly happens to Philip and Syrena.

I'm a big fan of P1, P2 & P3 but I can't say this entertained me any where near as much. Same two guys wrote it but Gore Verbinski didn't direct this one. So I'm wondering if that's why it's just not as good..........well worth a watch if you're a pirates fan but don't expect to be blown away.

i like the first two movies COTBP and DMC. the third one was convoluted and a bit boring with but a great ship battle. the problem is that the third can't be ignored because it ends the plot from DMC. it could have been one movie.

its a better film than 3 but the series has become a self parody and this film is littered with plot points interrupted by action scenes. so it no wonder i got lost by the 30 min mark. but its not bad just a bit average. but pirate fans will like it.

The story line was quite good and the characters were ok

Such a terrible film and was obviously made in a rush just to make a quick buck. People expect more from a franchise as big as Pirates and will not tolerate such a terribly unfunny mishmash of a film. Whoever was involved with the writing of this puddle of bottom water should be beaten like a ginger stepchild.

But love Johnny Depp so may be biased only criticism was it was too long and once you've seen one POTC you've seen them all.



After watching this i was very disappointed, the first two films were excellent but this one seemed like it was trying too hard

Boring and the storyline is poor.just another bad film making money adventure. There's no good films coming out anymore and the quality of good story-lines is rock bottom in the dim industry hence the amount of remakes coming out!

I liked it

I have to admit it is a great film but something about seems weird it kinda lacks flow - it just seems they go from one line to the next and jack sparrow seems to be abit more normal then what he did so hopefully they sort this out for the next one in 2013 :D other than them its a great film!

Dull as, especially compares to those of previous pirates

Loved the previous films but this one is sooooo boring. I stopped watching after about an hour! Miss this one out me thinks!

This movie is absoloutly awesome, jam packed full of off the edge action. I love it.

I'm getting sick of people saying that it's just a way to make money, terible acting etc.

Ok it's not as good as the first 3 films but it's still a worthy pirates of the carribean film.

In fact, The fountain of Youth was mentioned in the 3rd film so it's a nice follow up.

It has the comedy, the mythical creatures & the swashbuckling adventure of all the other films.

Definately a great addition to the series. Hopefully well see more of the girl (I forget her name lol) in the next film.

Decent movie

A mediocre mess, completely lacking in the charm of the first movie and much duller than the second and third.

The script might just have been good enough for a straight to video cartoon but not a movie.

Even the special effects disappoint, the pirate ship's sails look like they came straight off an XBox game.

Well what can I say? It just isn't pirates of the caribbean and completely ruins the previous three. It is boring, no true story line, mediocre and just no flow. It seems like the director was purely trying to get laughs instead of focusing on the franchise and make a truly awesome pirates movie. Very disappointed

Let's face it, Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom are terrible actors. They kept the only worthwhile characters from the original trilogy and headed in a new direction for the franchise. excellent film, with some brilliant ideas and characters. Recommended.

Really really boring. It just drags on. Half of the cast that made the first 3 films what they where... aren't in it. Jonny Depp is brilliant but he can not carry the whole film. The story is average. You are going to watch it anyway just because it's a POTC film but you won't get the 2 mind rotting hours of your life back just so you know.

i wasn't sure whether the film would be any good before i watched it so i rented it.

It's not bad at all, it's got the swordplay the usual quips from before and a few very interesting scenes in it. A bit of double crossing but there isn't a spark really, the invented jacks "lost lover" seems a bit thin for an introduction but she's okay as a character.

It doesn't seem to build upon or try to make anything new as such, not as dramatic as the last film but the removal of keira knightly and orlando bloom is welcome they were pretty poor actors even if they did the usual dull disney love thing.

The bizare side love story between the priest and the mermaid doesn't seem to fit, it's either too big a development for a film which is already focused or it isn't fleshed out enough to make it interesting as it is.

Otherwise it's perfectly on par with the quality of the previous pirates of caribbean, nothing particularly bad.

I think it would have played better as a cartoon in some respects and disney don't really seem to grasp that cartoon-like films don't fit "real life" filming.

This film is great! I live the idea of it and the new cast are great! Love it!

I loved the first 3 films but this one isn't even in the same league. It's less funny, the plot is very badly structured and the loss of key characters makes this movie feel like it's not even in the same series as the first trio.

Really couldnt get in to this, ok its not bad, but it isnt great i know alot of people have said the same but its true. the effects and stuff like that is great! as is the acting, but just couldnt get in to it!

It's not as good as the original. Johnny Depp is an amazing actor, some funny moments but I don't know why they killed off Blackbeard and saved Cruz! Don't know about you but I thought she SUCKED on this film! I could of done better! :)

It was very refreshing to see a Pirates film without ms knightly and orlando bloom as i felt their whole love story dragged out to long and was very predictable, this one is about jack sparrow which is the character we have all come to love, I didnt bother with 3d as it gives me headaches, really enjoyed it though. 11/10 Highly recommended

Garbage,, waste of time and money to buy and make..

Narrow minded people annoy me when they say "this film isn't as good as the rest" and "it's not the same without the original cast" that's all nonsense it's a great film for all the right reasons. Great over the top plot like all of the films, great acting, great effects, captain jack sparrow as always makes the film. Great all around entertaining film if you like the rest you will like this one unless your just moaning over silly things, anyone who doesn't like this is not a real fan of the rest,

If you like this series of movies, you will love this! Great cast, Jonny Depp brilliant as usual. Story is good with lots of twists and turns, not too predictable either. And with loads more action than the last two in the series. You really need to watch this!

I can't believe some of these reviews, moaning that Orlando and knightly wasnt in the film. The film is fantastic, plenty of action, great story and humour.

Of course it's not going to be as good as the first few but enjoy that the franchise is still producing a class film. Depp is brilliant as sparrow and I think one more film will be great to end the series.

I loved all three Pirates films. Just watched this yesterday and I couldnt have been more dissapointed. New Cast + Director + Storyline + lack of epicness in the film and the theme music = trash

The characters all seemed disconnected and urgh... just not good.

Thank god Keira knightly wasn't in the film.

Loved the first film. The franchise went downhill culminating in a mish mash of story lines that leave you completely cold. Funniest moment is Johnny Depp falling over on the beach. Vast majority of characters bash through their lines with no particular belief. The set pieces are dull and the moments of Peter Sellers like comedy from Depp lost in an overbearing over loud score that is more video game than cinema. I rented more in hope than faith.

Weak, poor, rubbish, boring, pointless, and I'm a fan of the other films in the series.

No way as good as the first 2 POTC movies, and much worse than the 3rd. If Disney are so desperate to milk this franchise they should just go ahead and make it cartoon series for tv, and save them and us a bunch of money.

There are a couple of good actors in this film, but it lacks what the other three films had. The storyline looked like it was put together overnight, and I just feel that the film and plotline are very rushed. I didn't see the relevance of the character Penelope Cruz, even though I love the actress herself I just felt that she was there for a bit of 'eye candy'. Johnny Depp's acting is flawless as always, and Geoffrey Rush was good too. The stunts were ok but they seemed like they were just used to fill in time.

Overall it was ok, but I wasn't gripped like I was in the other three films. And I think it was a bad idea to try and create another 'Will and Elizabeth' storyline- even if it is between a human and mermaid. I would rent it before you buy it, so you can give your own opinion.

Thought it was a really amazing and memorable film, as always Johnny Depp mastered the character, as did all of the other actors. Same sense of comedy and light heartedness along with darkness and seriousness at times. The fight scenes, in my opinion were the best of the four films, especially the epic final battle. The only single downside was that there was no sense of a villain until the near end, but overall a fantastic epic adventure with Jack Sparrow and the new crew

I don't know why people are saying that this one was bad!!! I loved this film (I loved all of them) but this one was great!! Maybe a bit too much action and not enough talking, but to be honest I dont really mind. And the mermaids were severly cool. But then again as long as johnny depp is in it I'll watch it ;D buy it or rent it, just as long as you watch it!!!

went and saw this is in the cinema, found it rather boring and tiresome. it's just not the same without keira knightly and orlando bloom. one of my friends came out being absolutely horrified by it and it's mermaids. i went to see it because i loved the first three. so i would of been annoyed if i didn't see it as i wanted to compare. so when it comes out, don't buy rent.

The 4 th installment in disneys pirates adventure is in my opinion the second best! Only number 1 exceeds this! Captain Barbossa is probably the best thing about this film and the story is epic and gripping

Pirates of the Caribbean one and two were fantastic, the third was OK but the story was just too much and the action wasn't particurly exciting apart from the opening 30 minutes.

This installment runs superior to the third but still isn't that great. It's been made purely to make money, and it certainly has. There are a few funny moments and some good action sequences, but it does slightly drag and without Keira Knightley, it lacks a sophisticated female lead as Penelope Cruze is a little dull as a character.

I would watch the first two more than once, but this and the third I would only once, it's OK, but not as good as the originals.

this is amazing film. and if i could rate it out of 100 it would be 100. i will recommened it to everyone who likes pirates of the caribbean.
