Really, don't bother.

Possibly the worst film I have ever seen. Vile, tasteless, saccharine, empty & unfunny. Poor script, even worse acting, unfunny & painful to watch. This needs a negative rating -- Why can't I give negative ratings. I like bad movies - b movies, straight to video - whatever you call them - but this is straight to trash bin. This gives poor movies a bad name. All the actors, crew, directors and anyone involved in this film should be utterly ashamed of themselves for wasting the lives of millions. I guess this means it was a box office hit.

I cannot understand how some reviewers did not find this film funny. I have watched it a dozen times and actually think it is hilarious! In fact it's my favourite comedy.

Great actors, great story which I think a lot can relate too.

In fact even writing about it makes me want to watch it again!

It would seem the negative reviews of this film are from people who have forgotten what it is like to either be 40 because they are already 60 or do not have children.

This is an accurate and good poke of fun at many peoples lives today... If you didn't like it I would assume your looking for the "10 commandments" or for death to come for you miserable old soul.

to waste your time on this pile of rubbish. Avoid at all costs unless you are 40, in an unhappy marriage and have bratty children. Then you might enjoy watching this biography of your own life!

Might be abit crude but really fun as its very realistic about relationships & family!!!

Great film!

Funny, light-hearted and worth a watch.

Well I for one thought it was very funny. I also watched it on a long haul flight, and enjoyed it very much! Perhaps because I am 43, with 2 kids, just like in the film, and I could relate to described situations, characters, feelings and even conversations! Astutely played, really appreciated the actress's performance, whom I discovered! It is a film about life, a couple in their forties, with teenager and another child, plus parents. I would watch again with pleasure! Def recommend it!

An excruciating 90 minutes or so. Can't relate or believe in these people and their angst at turning 40. My advice: don't rent.

I never write reviews, but this film made me so annoyed I thought I would try to warn other people looking for a comedy to pass the time. The preview shots weren't even in the film! (Exception of one) The rest of the film was without comedic moments (perhaps a few if you are a teenager); it was without any sort of plot, full of marital discord, whining and foul language (which did nothing to lift the spirits) and was generally a superficial view of what the film industry sees as rich american family life. Real life at 40 can contain so many more funny moments.

This is awful more like , did not even bother watching till the end , the swearing throughout the film is cringeworthy not funny .

Where to begin, this film was a massive waste of my life. It went on and on without anything really occurring. I don't usually bother writing reviews but this film was such a puddle of menstural discharge I wanted to make sure others wouldn't step in it as I have done.

You did get to see a boob tho.

This is an odd film, the first time I watched it I thought it was distinctly average and was a bit bored. But I'd made the mistake of buying it. So I watched it at again and liked it so much more! It's advertised as a puerile laugh out loud comedy (the sort I love) but its much more subtle than that. It's a great film but I reckon marketed in the wrong way.

I am shocked anyone likes this. It's depressing. Leslie Mann is unconvincing, I'm not sure I've ever seen her act believably if I'm honest. Do not waste your money on this. This is the last time I believe the star ratings £4.50 for this rubbish. For the love of all great comedies let this one melt away into oblivion, don't fund it. No, don't do it.

Disappointing film that is no where near as good as it thinks it is. a dysfunctional couple go through a series of linked set pieces,yep there is the odd laugh here and there but there is more swearing than the average film,the acting is pretty lame especially the female lead. Problem here is nobody is likeable so you don't really care what happens to them as they toil from one set piece to another. This could have been brilliant but sadly it falls way short but criminally it's not funny enough,disappointing

Disappointing film which could have been a lot funnier. Save you time and re-watch change up instead. It was 10 times better!

I can imagine some people liking this film but it wasn't up my street. Its a chick flick through and through. I like films like bridesmaids and the hangover which this appears like from the trailer. A lot of the characters were genuinely obnoxious and I couldn't work out if the writer had actually intended them to be. For instance the leading lady who optimises the self centred middle class, in sole pursuit of her own selfish happiness.

The school parent mouthing off in the headmistress's office was proper funny as were one or two bits that made it into the trailer like the guys talking about how nice it would be if their wives just drifted away painlessly but overall the rest didn't grip me.

Some absolutely extraordinary moments. Genuinely cutting, truthful comedy about modern families.

But it needs to be cut by an hour to lose much repetitive, uninteresting content.

Full marks to the trailer - looked like fun. But it wasn't, gave up after 20 minutes (with gritted teeth). Charmless spoilt california residents out-selfish each other. They won, we lost. It was probably meant to be knowing and 'bright', but was charmless and not funny. Sorry guys.

It was a so so film. Maybe I need to watch it when I'm 40. If it was meant to be a comedy it didn't work for me. Paul Rudd was good though

Funny film which talks about the common stuff which we all go through life with. One massive warning if your watching "Lost" don't watching this film it ruins the ending!!! Well upset!

Its nothing like Knocked up, lasted way to long and felt like it dragged through the film only small moments are funny literally like a couple of words some of them come out with but thats it.

This was the worst film that I have ever seen. I watched it 2 weeks ago and even remembering how bad it was is making me angry. It was an abomination and an insult to the film industry. Every copy of this film should be burnt and then sent into a black hole so no one can ever access it ever again. It makes Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey look like an Oscar award winning film and now I'm getting too angry so am going to stop and watch Harry potter to restore my faith that there are good films out there.

really great fun for over 35s - i laughed my head off - I'm 40

Whilst the couple are an extreme version of a 40 something pair who have been married for a long time and the romance has been taken over by the mundane realities of family, I think that most of us can relate to them on some level. I even got laughs out of my other half who normally hates my choice. He was particularly impressed with the use of the iPad in the toilet. Great movie for escapism and just having a giggle - it is good for you!!

Ignored the reviews and rented it anyway, such a good film, definitely worth seeing, enjoyed it so much would definitely recommend. :-)

film didnt work properly when I watched it

This actually made me laugh and thats something most modern day teenage slapsick comedies never do. The language was pretty coarse but on a par with most films these days. The actors played it perfectly. If you want to watch a comedy .. for me, this has been this years winner.

It's a turkey. Don't do it. I cant give it no stars because it wont let me.

I honestly thought some of the bad reviews were so bad they seemed personal! Thankfully I ignored them and tried them anyway. It's a really good film, lots of very genuine moments with great chemistry between the family, and very funny moments.

I wanted to like this film but the family it is centred on is so annoying and ghastly I wanted them to be murder one another - which sadly didn't happen . 2 wasted hours of my life that I won't get back!

Don't have much negative to say apart from the women on the cover looks nothing like the women how play her role 😤😑 oh well I love that actress anyway great film 😊😂

I am reluctant to give this one star. It's not funny.. It's a rubbish story line.. Slow ..boring.. Don't waste your time or money. I wish we had not...

I was so bored I went and paid my bills. Self indulgent rubbish. No plot, no laughs, it was like watching someone else's home videos. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
