I dont go with the its brilliant comments but would agree its well worth watching mainly because its taken an old theme ie alien invasion and maniulated it very cleverly it is definetly well worth a watch

Well the title says it all really, but anyway I'm 14 and I adore Stephanie Meyer, and i was torn between getting this book and not and I never actually got around to it, well I wish I had! I watched the movie and fell in love! It's amazing and I plan on reading the book so I hope it's as good or even better!!

Never read the book, haven't seen the twilight saga and not bothered to.

Having watched this film a few times now, I really enjoy it's use of emotionally charged music and slow filming style to make it one of the few films to try and protray the emotional strugle of two souls within one body and with the emergence of a delicate friendship between them and the love of others to see past appearances, and with that gives a new embrace to alien invasions and the strength of emotions not weapons to fight back. Supurb twist to the story at the end.

Only downside was not enough open dialog between the two souls to create a more in depth picture of the friendship created, so lacked the 5th star for this.

This is one of my favourite films I loved it so much it's so different and it was just amazing. I'm hoping there's going to be a sequel for this because I loved it so much.

For once, the characters in this film don't try to outdo each other by behaving in unrealistic and unmotivated ways just to make a spectacle.

There is plenty of spectacular stuff in this film, and it is all well built, well acted and well edited. Blimey, that's unusual!!!

I thought this might be a decent time-waster of a sci-fi movie, but it's so much more. Destined to become a sci-fi classic.

Only the most die-hard action fan would have any trouble with this, and even then only in the more intimate sections. Loved it.

The plot seemed promising, however there was no emotional development to the characters and your left just not giving a crap what happens! Very Poor acting from main characters also! Shame really as had potential and the directors missed it!

Typical book is ALOT better than film version and they shouldn't of bothered spending the money!

This movie started off very well and I was optimistic that it could turn into a really great movie. It actually just about manages to be reasonable.

Its biggest problem is that it suffers from what I call "the Twilight problem" - a complete overload of slow, "romantic" scenes that becomes extremely tedious. Perhaps this is an inevitable consequence of the book being aimed at teenage girls.

The early scenes establish an intriguing premise, but it then trails off into a predictable "humans learn to trust the alien" saga set in a dreary desert location. The ending is also rather unsatisfactory.

It's worth a watch but could have been so much better.

Worst movie I've seen in years.

As a bloke who traditionally likes action films, I sneered at this film at first. When I finally swallowed my pride and watched it, I was fantastically surprised. The star actress of this film, really makes it a oscar worthy title. All of the reviewers who clicked anything below 4 stars for this movie don't know what they're talking about. This movie has gone straight into my favourites list.

The premise of the story is ok, but it is so badly done with 2D characters and the viewer gets no real feeling for what has happened in the world, or any info on the alien race. Mel's thought inside her own head are irritating and not well acted at all and the whole thing is boring, slow moving, predictable and just plain dull.

If I had a time machine and could only use it once before it broke I would go back two hours and save myself that pain

It's such a breath taking film it's a must watch!

I had quite forgotten that it was written by Stephanie Myers (author or the Twilight series) when I downloaded this, and was wondering what I'd done... But the story is great, with deep themes (surprisingly) and brought to life by the wonderful Saoirse Ronan who brings so much credibility to her character. The sets are amazing and beautiful, and so are the men...

Cheesey, slow, all looks like it was filmed in a set. Worst film I've seen for a long time.

Good film, well made, lots of human (alien) drama, love and emotion.

Enjoyed it and despite wanting a bit more action settled in to an easy film with some good actors.

I loved it. I had read the book and so wasn't sure that the film would live up to the book , but now i've seen it, I would see it over and over again. i loved the music because it really emphasised the emotions of the characters.

When I read the book I was staggered so when I was going to see the film I didnt think it could live up to my expectations but I was surprised at how great it is. Saoirse Ronan is a fantastic actress and so is Max Irons, they are now my favourites! The movie had action which I'm new to but I thought it was good, not enough romance for me but even if there was more I would still imagine my own. This is a good adaption of a book that leaves non-crucial events out but an even better movie by itself. This is definatly better than the Twilight movies and worth watching.

Seriously, this is the worst film I've ever watched, by far. I only watched it due to a girlfriend unfortunately wanting to see it. I couldn't understand what soppy emotions were possibly being conveyed as I watched in disbelieve at all the sobbing 12 year olds crying their eyes out at this poor excuse for a 'good' film.

The Host is such a great film, I really wanted to see it and my Mum took me and she wasn't too keen on going but she loved it! Its the best film since Twilight

This is definitely a chick flick and more biased towards teenagers.Pace a little slow at times but some good performances from female leads.If you like the twilight films you will love this.

...it was from the twilight author I wouldn't have bothered. I was expecting so much more but the silly love triangle, ridiculous voice of Melanie trapped inside her body. Arg! So so messy with continuity issues in nearly every major scene. I am really disappointed. Don't. Waste. Your. Money. Or. Time!

I was expecting too much, so I was let down a bit.

I have to say that the book wasn't too bad, but this was terrible.. slow from start to finish with none of the characters standing out from the bunch. Avoid.

it differs from the book at some points but every film has to at some point. I love the way the relationship between Mel and Wanda was done it worked! i am an avid rader and hard to please if a film has been converted from a book but this one wored witch is rare! on a side note leave all thought of twilight behind, this film is somthing else!!

I've read the book and really liked it, and so was curious how they were going to turn it into a film (or possibly destroy it entirely). I was extremely impressed - even having read the book I found myself really getting lost in it.

And for those of you curious, this is NOT like Twilight. (Let's all give thanks for that.) No Kristen Stewart!!! There's actual real acting here.

Loved the book, was super hyped for the film, have never been more disappointed in my life. Poor script that was poorly acted, the plot misses out important chunks and adds in pointless scenes instead. Just an awful adaptation of an actually decent book.

Credit where it's due, the chrome cars and bikes are pretty sweet though.

Plot not bad but could see where it was going nearly all the time except the last minute but still not brilliant. As with poor sci fi little things like super being that can travel faster than light still searches for humans in the dark with a torch, etc. not very much suspense, not bad but would not recommend it to friend or enemy

my wife was a big fan of the twilight saga. This is nothing like that. It does not have the attention to detail. The plot line is the body snatchers one. The group watching with me including the twilight fans were all cracking jokes and groaning as the cliches piled up in the so predictable plot.

After watching what was all three of the best parts on a clip I thought it would have been well worth a watch "WRONG" the story line is thin and stolen from a few other movies

Slow. Very low budget and with no CC or subtitle to watch on apple TV. Plot really for young people. From a product quality point of view, starting to get disappointing with apple to deliver films with no subtitles or CC at all and you always get charge the full price!!
