Description

Lance Armstrong was considered one of the greatest sports figures of all time and put competitive cycling into the global spotlight, by beating cancer and winning the Tour de France seven times. That success earned him an immense fortune and worldwide fame. His was also one of the most influential and inspiring sports stories of recent memory and became a pop culture phenomenon, thanks to his Livestrong initiative. Beginning in 2009, Academy Award winning documentarian Alex Gibney followed Armstrong for four years chronicling his return to cycling after retirement, as he tried to win his eighth title. Unexpectedly, Gibney was also there in 2012 when Armstrong admitted to doping, following a federal criminal investigation, public accusations of doping by his ex-teammates, and an investigation by the US Anti-Doping Agency, that led USADA's CEO, Travis Tygart, to conclude that Armstrong's team had run 'the most sophisticated, professionalized and successful doping program that sport has ever seen.

Very informative documentary. It is very difficult to maintain peoples attention on one specific topic for 2 hours, but Gibney does it brilliantly by combining a mixture of interview, videos and facts. He brings to light a lot of information previously unknown about the Armstrong lie and educates anyone who wasn’t completely aware of the scandal and it’s background.
Superb Film.

LA did what he needed to do to win, something that is inbuilt in his DNA. Did he lie, yes, did invent doping, no. He came into a sport that was already deeply routed in doping, how many people would give up on their dream? This film shows more contrition than Oprah interviews, so hats off to LA and the film maker. People are too quick to judge LA having never walked a day in his shoes.

A disgrace to cycling

A pure and simple cheat, to watch this film is to endorse an already disgraced sportsman and throw more money at someone who doesn't deserve to be in the public eye at all!

Anyone still care?

Interesting documentary but there’s nothing new here. The movie doesn’t add anything more to the story. I wish it had been much more aggressive in it’s research and questioning but it skirted over the most of the same issues that have been heard already elsewhere. I wonder why Lance still won’t spill the beans about the hospital room incident.

A cheat then goes on to explain himself and makes a (potentially) great deal of cash? There is something wrong with this. Should not Mr Armstrong be relived of his ability to earn when in actual fact, he “made it” through drugs? Or is it me?
Mr Armstrong? Put your earnings, all of it, back into cycling, were YOU don’t make a single penny from it. Go on, I dare you.
