Description
One of the greatest films of all time, Akira Kurosawa's Seven Samurai has influenced the work of directors from George Lucas to Steven Spielberg, and spawned remakes, such as John Sturges' acclaimed The Magnificent Seven. With their village raided every year by vicious bandits, a group of peasants hire seven warriors to protect them. Initially met with suspicion, the warriors eventually gain the trust of the peasants and they join forces to face the bandits. Endlessly copied but never surpassed, Seven Samurai is a truly timeless classic.

This is an undisputed classic, often imitated but never bettered.
But come on iTunes. Although the picture and sound quality are superb, the second line of the subtitles are half cut off. Let's fix this ASAP!!

It's over 3 hours long, which I wasn't expecting, but nonetheless what a great movie, wonderful characters and great storyline which is far more interesting than the Western remake.. This is the magnificent Seven with swords, in black & white, in Japanese and with subtitles... But wow what a ride! Worth the 3 hours+ of time needed to watch it.
Is this new to Apple? Is it a Criterion Collection print?

Does it really take until 2015 to have this movie shown as new on the itunes store?
This is a classic.
Can someone say whether this is the 'Criteria Collection' 2010 remastered version of the 1954 original?
I've got this 'Criteria Collection' version on BluRay and it cost me over £25 last year, but well worth every penny. Simply superb. The way you wish all movies would be . (Well at least the classics)
I'd buy it again from Apple but it's only a movie trailer, so I can't judge the quality.
Anyone know?

This is my all time greatest film. You don't have to be into martial arts to enjoy it and since its screening its story line has been the theme for many films.

The film gets five stars. One of the greatest movies ever made but...
Whoever encoded this for the BFI has placed the burnt in subtitles far too low in frame so if you are planning on watching this on your Apple TV, the lower half of the text is going to be missing. A terrible shame. Come on guys. You're supposed to follow guidelines set by Apple.
