Watching the trailer for the first time I was not impressed, excited, yes, but not impressed. To my ignorant and stereotypical expectant-self it seemed to be just another classic cheesy Hollywood blockbuster. If you have read my reviews before you will know I'm not a man to acknowledge many of my 'errors', as a previous friend once put it. But this time I was wrong.
Watching the film for the first time after its release on my iPod at school my excitement from the trailer was retained. But this time there was something else, from the opening shot I was hooked. I didn't properly take in the first words due to my hookageness, so hastily rewound the film to listen again. This does not normally happen to me, but then this film is not normal.
Every once in a while a film comes along. A film with the air of magical brilliance; that both captivates and entices the viewer into a instinctive desire for more. This film has that and more.
In order not to ruin the plot I will attempt not to reveal much of it, that is always the interesting part of reviews, but from the first yell of the genius that is Christopher Nolan we are transported across the dimensions and galaxies to a world that seems so close and yet so far. The problem in the film is simple, earth is not happy. Solution - Find a new earth for human race. The man for the plan is a seemingly calm and calculated yet fervently charged Matthew McConaughey, if I was gay he'd be the man for me. The graphics are that as one would expect for a Christopher Nolan film. Although there are one or two questions and slight preferences for me, such as the endless stream of infuriating tears from the bottomless pit that is Anne Hathaway's tear duct. The film works and works beyond compare, this film should have won Oscars. But don't worry Christopher Nolan it has won me instead.
