'Minions' are nothing more than a marketing scheme at this point. I saw their value as simple humour for children in the first Despicable Me, but that was in small doses. Now it's like an overdose of unfunny yellow ovals which have nothing creative about them whatsoever.

Yet millions of people have bought into the IDEA of minions due to the ridiculous advertising (minion tic tacs, soap, balloons, clothing, etc) and this mediocre kids film is now one of the highest grossing movies of all time.

In my opinion if you bought this movie then you've been fooled into it by the Universal Pictures marketing team.

My three-year-old (who loves the minion shorts) laughed just once. A few mildly amusing bits but we found it incredibly boring and I wished we'd just watched any Pixar film instead.

this movie is really awesome it is definitely worth a watch. it is appropriate for all ages and has anyone ever wondered where the minions came from well this is the answer to that question. For what its worth we have 3 and 5 year old boys who do struggle to “sit still” but they both watched this end to end and laughed out loud throughout the film (which doesn’t always come easy/naturally for our eldest). I thought it was very entertaining and hilarious in places.

When I heard the minions were going to have a whole movie about them, I had high hopes as both the Despicable movies were filled with plot and humour. Sadly, while the beginning of the movie was great at introducing us to the minions backstory, I felt the plot was incredibly weak and lazily written. Disappointing. On the plus side, the animation was excellent and, for me, way better than the Despicable Me films.

We were looking forward to the release of Minions, but it hasn't made the same impact as the originals on our children or us.

Film doesn't really build up to the same level in both story and humor. We were laughing so much with DM 1&2, but this time round not much more than smiles.

TL;DR - Classic Minions, Fantastic, Funny and definitely worth a watch.

I’ve loved the Despicable Me series, Minions being the main reason why I love the first two films. When I heard that they were making a prequel, I was overjoyed as well as slightly sceptical. Why? Most films that have a create prequels mess it up. This is NOT the case with the Minions. It’s nice to see their backstory and how they eventually meet up with Gru.

Following the story of Kevin, Stuart and Bob they search to find their ultimate villain master for all the minions. It’s great story with a lot of classic Minion behaviour, which is to be expected. When I went to the cinema to view it with some friends of different age ranges and we were all very impressed with the film. Obviously slightly falling short of being the great film it could have been, because of the order they were made. But despite that being said, it’s worth watching, because who doesn’t love the banana loving, pill shaped creatures.

The trailer sucked me into believing this would be an expansion of the best bits of the original movies, whereas in fact they used all the best bits for the trailer. Don't buy it, if you have kids wait for the rental version, if you don't have kids avoid it altogether.

My littel boy loves this film he 19 month old and the smile on his faces is great. I even like. Few bit of the film for good old family fun this is a good chooses and it different so keeps it new for you.

STORY

A prequel to "despicable me" telling the origin story of the minions, and there hunt for a evil villain master to follow.

OPINION

I rather enjoyed despicable me, I liked the second one so was looking forward to a separate minions movie, question is can the side characters withstand a feature length movie.......yes the bloody can!!!

This was so much better than I first anticipated, the story is good, it's fast paced, very very funny, sweet, mad, slightly dark, but very pleasing film that all families should enjoy.

Sandra Bullock as the baddie is ok, although the weakest element, she still has moments to shine, but feels a little underdeveloped, however we aren't mainly here for her, were here for the minions, led by three Kevin, Stuart and Bob ( my personal fave )

The films humour mostly hits with very few that don't.

The animation is breathtaking at times, it's just a lovely family cartoon that I think is better than the despicable me films

The ending is perfect too!!!!

Go see it, it's one in a minion!

OVERALL. 9:5/10
