Every song means something and isn't that what a song needs. Brilliantly done in every album. Recommended.

His songs started to get quite boring and dreary from his first album after the songs were played on the radio again and again. This song, however, I could never get tired of. Straight from the heart (as are most of his songs) and very clear. Well done Mr. Blunt. Great comeback from the critisms!

the songs a bit catchy but he probably wasnt even alive in 1973! its a bit pointless that he's written about a year he was either not yet born in or was really young at the time!

This is the sort of bland rubbish you expect Elton John to release when he gets a large florist's bill through the mail. I must concede, however, that this song is remarkable in the one respect that it DOESN'T ACTUALLY SAY OR MEAN ANYTHING! He's ripping you off, people! And then laughing at you from his Ibiza bachelor pad....

nice concept but the idea could have been developed so much further. gets very samey very quickly - just watch the 30 sec preview, that will be enough.

Loved the debut album and think this new song is really great.Have heard several of the songs from the upcoming album and therefore have high hopes that on the whole it will some up to the standards of BTB.

Also Mr Blunt is looking very fine these days obviously living outside of the UK agrees with him ...I wouldn't mind joining you anytime JamesX

James blunt was a hit wonder his songs have always made it high in the uk, he is a good artist has powerful lyrics from the heart but in this song he is going more upbeat and thinking outside the box, what he said was thinking with his band in mind, this is a great song which grows on you everytime you hear it, really really good and worth it, cant wait for the album, dont let anyone fool you into thinking it isnt any good, it is and is well worth it, definatly get it.

i was a fan of his previous album, with all of his tracks having a true meaning. I think he's now done a brilliant job with 1973, as it has nostalgic value and heart-found lyrics. great beat, great song.

I think it is rather immature for people to be judging James Blunt's music, just because of his background. grow up.

At last he's back and I'm not disappointed.......I think Blunt's new single is great. Still in his style but this is a catchy number that if you're a blunt fan you'll definitely enjoy!

I too grew bored of Mr Blunt after the over playing of all his last album and indeed grew bored of the criticism levelled at him after it did so well. This however is a quality song that is very catchy yet not too cliche....hope it is not too overplayed!!

A fantastic song, all that we have come to expect from Mr Blunt is here once again. Beautiful melodies mixed with his unique voice makes for another heart felt, moving song. The video is well worth it....just buy it and youll see......

Funkier and less mawkish than his previous opus. But delightful all the same. 15 minutes of fame has not withered him. His remains a voice to care about. James Blunt has sharpened his licks. I'd go and see him. And that's saying alot. I weigh 50 tonnes and smell like Manchester United after an impromptu sumo wrestling contest. Da man Rocks. Or at least..socks.

When James Blunt First realeased 'You're Beautiful', I thought that none of his other work could surpass it...but when I heared this song, i was totally blown away by his greatness as a singer/songwriter. I hope that there is more to come from Mr. Blunt and none of his work comes under critisism.

Blunt is such an easy target. Posh, boring, whiny, over-rated, under-talented. The best thing to do is not criticise, but ignore. He will one day go away and just whine pitifully to himself in a dark corner of his large mansion, that you fools all contributed to. Tell you what, keep the money in your pockets and I'll keep my money in mine.. the world will be a better place when Blunt stops receiving our attention. Okay I'm putting my hands over my ears now and turning away... put the microphone and guitar down Blunt... this is your last chance... put them down now..... and in the blissful silence that followed we could then hear one another.. beautiful.

I was a fan of james' 1st album and particularly liked that most of the songs were from the heart, it not all! This just strikes me as trying to hit the market that the people wanna hear, problem is, it's all been done so many times by others who are far better at producing awful pop tracks. Lost his status as singer/songwriter in my book, not impressed.

It s a shame that, as soon as an artist becomes popular in this country, they are there to be shot down. There is a movement of sad wannabes that cannot help but be critical. My advice: go on then, release something better. This IS a catchy tune and the video's not bad either.

I thought this song was quite average on first hearing, but the more I listened to it the more I like it and now I think it is an exellent song. James Blunt is very talented and his music and vocals are an acquired taste but you have to respect his song writing ability and that his songs are enduring. Anyone who says this isnt a good track does not know good music when they hear it.

I think 1973 is a great song with a unique bass track. Very catchy. Think it will only be poo pooed by the 'too cool for school' gang who secretly love a bit of blunt but have to critisise it anyway - bit like what happend to Ali G.
