The pure, stripped down, real emotion version rather than the commercial "how high can you sing it" version which could be said to be more well known. For those people who have not heard it - they have no idea what their missing. If you're looking for real, powerful music then you've got it =)

Amazing

I still can't believe that someone gave this 1 star, the person who gave this one star must be death seeing as this is one of the best recordings ever made, Jeff is an amazing singer and his guitar playing is also.
it's sad that some people don't understand true music anymore..

Just Brilliant

This has to be one of the most haunting video/songs ever produced. Fantastic.

Lets face facts, this was written by Mr Cohen and was therefore never a sing of joy or fulfillment - Jeff does it as it was meant with angst and pain and makes the current releases look like exactly what they are - Bland commercialised renditions without soul, meaning or thought.

This version is definitely the best, i first heard it in the OC and absolutely loved it since. i love how simple it is and just about his amazing voice, instead of any dramatic background music. The video shows this perfectly, amazing!

Probably the most monotonous and dreary version of a song I have heard in a long time. After all the fuss on the internet with people trying to get this to number one, I was expecting something special.
Unfortunately, even the good visual aspect of the video can't save this dismal rendition of what is a very good song. Good camera work and lighting, awful music and singing. I am surprised this got anywhere near number 2 in the chart, but I am not surprised it was outsold on a ratio of 7:1.
Make sure you watch the preview first.

Neither "Definitive" nor "rubbish"!!

This is a great VERSION of this song, yeah, no doubt - but hardly DEFINITIVE - that accolade belongs firmly with the master Leonard Cohen who WROTE the song!!! As for Rach4gers - HELLO????? Alexandra better at this??? Which planet are you listening to this from???

One of the great performances

Tremendous, one of the great emotional performances, certainly one of my top ten songs of all time. Popularised in the UK by the X-Factor, this version is a world apart from the number one selling single.
This is all about raw emotion, no special effects, no backing singers, in fact nothing except voice, a couple of guitars and talent. Truly special and a song I could listen to over and over again.
For pure, raw, emotion, this is it.

Simply the very best rendition of one of the greatest and most moving songs of all time. The only bad point is that by buying it you're lining Simon Cowells pockets with more gold. Oh well. Alexandra who ?

Thanx X Factor!

Thank you X Factor for emphasising to us that the definitive Jeff Buckley version of Hallelujah is sooooo good. This is one of the most moving and heart-wrenching versions of this classic and to watch the late Jeff Buckley sing with such feeling gives you goosebumps. He has to go to number one for Xmas.

I discovered this on "Acoustic Songbook Collection" some years ago but I keep coming back to it as one my favourites. The video is haunting and personal and really captures the spirit of Jeff Buckley. Without doubt the best rendition of this classic - Jonathan

this song is one of my best songs of all time, seriously i could listen to it over and over and still think its amazing, Jeff Buckley's version of it is amazing, and this video is so simply its gd, no tricks, just a dude in the studio playing his guitar, and its got that weird sense to it that makes you feel like your there.
yea buy its well worth the money

A haunting video to accompany a truly great and melodic song......it almost feels like you're intruding in the studio.
