Description

Running is great, so why aren't the podcasts? Bad Boy Running is a podcast for runners who are bored of the dull and dry podcasts currently on offer. Hosted by friends Jody Raynsford and David Hellard, both running journalists, bloggers and lovable idiots, the show features the conversations they'd have in the pub focusing as much on the camaraderie and social side of the sport as well as the technical. Whether you're a 5k, 10k, half marathon, marathon runner or ultramarathon runner, you'll find something in here to be offended by. Bad Boy Guarantee.

Come for the running, stay for the beer

If you want a running podcast that... contains helpful advice, dispenses training tips, and offers serious analysis, then this isn't for you.
If you want a running podcast that... sporadically releases episodes, has a host who barely does any running, spends more time discussing drinking than running, reveals why Eddie Izzard is a child killer, and has an officially sanctioned theme tune from Pato Banton, then GET ON BOARD.
Ba-da-bye b bye bye, ba-da-bye bye bye-bye.

Something to do with running, I think

A very decent mix of banter and guests. The guests that the boys managed to get hold of are excellent, and really open the mind to what humans are capable. Oh, and they like drinking.

Great Banter with some Brilliant guests

A great light hearted podcast which attracts some brilliant, quality guests. Awesome to listen to, especially while out running.

Best podcast ever

I’ve only recently converted to only running from a multi sport background. I love this podcast, it’s down to earth and a real laugh along with some serious and informative interviews.
Keep it up!

Not bad when Hellards WiFi is working properly

If you want boring end to end run chat then this isn’t for you. If you don’t mind listening to people drifting off on occasionally funny tangents with some quality interviews, then you’ll probably like it.
I’m pretty sure Allie Bailey could get a better WiFi signal in the desert though!

There’s a podcast?

Two blokes having a chat about their mutual love of the Edinburgh marathon, their dislike of beer and they are certainly very professional in their recordings. A must listen for anyone who wants to join a cult (not a cult) that “sells” merch with witty remarks that might be delivered within 2 years of ordering. I don’t know what’s more painful, listening to these two or running! FYB

Chris Lamb

I first listened to the episode with that photographer bloke and even though photography or fell running aren’t really my thing I enjoyed it enough to go back and listen to every episode made before that pretty much in consecutive days until I’d caught up and I’ve listened to every one since too. Keep up the average work guys, it’s got me hooked. 🏃‍♂️🍻

Running? If you think this podcast is about running, think again...

Listen to Hellard's voyeurism in Denmark when he "accidentally" runs past "two guys noshing each other off", or learn about stretchual healing, or how Jody still isn't running (at least that's the case in the random episodes I selected after listening to the mediocre interview with Laz Lake). This is the weird and wonderful world of running I never knew existed, and has forever changed my morning commute. FYB!

It's not always about the running...

Great tips, a lot of chat without the cult following, just remember the press ups. Various topics keeping it fresh, getting a PB, perfecting the bank's method, to achieving a DNF at ParkrAce, guests that get you inspired to run, have an adventure or just enjoy a good DNS. FYB!

Without them I’d still only be doing colour runs!

Started listening to get me round my local ParkRace but Jody & Hellard soon let me know that you can run more still while drinking beer and without being in a running club. Great guests and great ‘advise’ most of the time ;)

A nice way to take away the boredom of a long run, listening to two friends chat with some pretty cool guests.

Less enjoyable than wanking into your grandma’s stocking whilst watching Countryfile live.

An important part of endurance training is to prepare your mind for hour after hour of boredom. Mind. Numbing. Boredom.
I used to struggle with this until I found the perfect training aid - The BBR podcast. Survive all of the.....no, ANY of the episodes of this and you will be well-equipped to survive any sort of mental onslaught the world could throw at you.
Except the Allie Bailey episode. Oh, and Laz. And of course the storey of Jodie failing to become the first woman to complete 4 laps of Winter Nuts: those episodes are something else.
So listen if you want.
Unless you’re a triathlete.
Or don’t. I don’t really care.

Mistletoe and wine... I feel fine!

Wahooo!! I finally made it!! Big fan guys, well done on the big 150. I'm so pleased to get a mention on the Podcast! Would love to come on sometime, could give David some sound/microphone tips and dish the dirt on Sue B.... (She was filth!)
If you ever need a new themetune (Although why would you with the legend that is Pato!?!) Check out my oldie - I'll Come Running! I think it might just work! Stay well my friends and... F**k You Buddies!

Decent

Not bad, who’d thought a couple of poshos talking vaguely about running would be a good listen. I’ve played RL all my life but retired due to injury and started running. If you like beer, cheating, casual racism and hate cycling listen to this, it’s actually pretty funny and there’s a few running tips thrown in now and again. 👍🏻

Love this

Great podcast. Luckily my commute to work has been awful over the past few days and or had allowed me to binge listen to about 10 of these episodes. Love the A to Z guide and just finished the one with Ian McNamara and no training for a marathon. Hilarious.

Wait there’s a podcast

I formerly remember the first episode where David and Jody declaimed that this was a running podcast that wasn’t going to be about guest interviews or talking for hours at a time. It also had an astonishingly low production value with terrible sound quality.
The most recent episode was nearly two and a half hours long and had another excellent guest. Sound quality has certainly improved and they now have a sponsor.

As if by magic...

I thought you couldn't wind my wife up anymore just with your annoying voices and trying to be funny for no reason...and then...episode with Mike SEAMAN took place.
She is a physio and now thinks 'the one with the most annoying voice' is a good for nothing work-shy Matrix impersonator. Her nemesis is any osteopath/chiropracter.

A tickle in the gentleman’s stretch

Loved the nostalgic feel to Jody’s Muttley-sque laugh. Since listening I have quit running and used the free time to watch repeats of The Wacky Races. Brilliant, exactly what I expect from a podcast about running.
Have also enjoyed being shot with Caffeine Bullets which hurt only slightly more than the real bullets fired at me for shout “F**k You Buddy”. Great work boys.

Not suitable for Running geeks

If you love hearing about PB’s, the latest gear and other serious running chat this might not be the show for you. (Maybe check out Marathon Talk) However if you want to listen to two blokes talk about all things related to endurance sports with some great useful tips (mainly from David!) and entertaining lads humour along the way this is the place to be.
This is my number 1 podcast! FYB!

Disgusting effort to make running interesting and dare I even say amusing. I didn’t get into this hobby because it was fun. I’d have bought a bike if I wanted fun.

Runners version of Wayne’s World...

Or maybe Beavis and Butthead given David’s laugh. Some fab interviews made far more interesting by their laidback style sounding more like a chat down the pub than a formal interview, meaning you get a real feel for the personality of the interviewee and not just their achievements. Lots of chat, most not necessarily running related but entertaining and often laugh out loud funny. Makes my commute fly by, unfortunately my running is still interminably slow though! FYB

Unpleasant cr*p

Tried listening to a few episodes and find some bits funny, but so much emphasis on pi55-taking without offering recourse and building a Facebook group of followers trotting out the same rubbish.
The real running content and interviews were good, but Jody in particular is trying so hard to be funny without a reason.

Makes you look bonkers on a run..!

Stumbled on this by accident looking for alternatives to a tired music collection and have not looked back. When I’m out on a 6or 10 Miller (or v occasionally beyond😅) I plug them in. Only problem is they do have you regularly laughing out loud on the moors - Gets you strange looks - especially from those kitted out “pro” thinking runners with “all the gear....🧐🤑” and the “raldie-rars“ who insist on tripping us up with “sticks & no skis”..!
Keep it up lads... you have given a new variety to a 48 year old farts running fun....!!! I’m spreading the word and can’t wait for the brand shop to open...😜👍😁💪

Bad Boys n Girls. So BAD it’s awesome!

I started listening 4 months ago, having entered a marathon and looking for some training advice and tips.
I listened to 3 episodes, and learnt absolutely nothing useful. I didn’t understand the “humour “ (or lack there of, and it seemed like two blokes sitting chatting about not much, with dubious sound quality to break up the monotony.
However, during a very long car journey, I needed a break from my usual choices of humorous or informative Podcasts, so listened again. Suddenly, something clicked, it’s not supposed to be professional quality audio*, informative or even necessarily full on entertaining, it’s a couple of blokes chatting about stuff (sometimes running related, usually not), supported by the wider Do Badder Facebook community, supporting each other in some amazing challenges, often raising money for brilliant causes.
I recently ran my marathon, and smashed it - information I actually absorbed while listening without realising made a huge difference to my training and result.
I’d highly recommend trying this Podcast, provided you’re not too easily offended, but if you don’t enjoy it, don’t judge, you’re just not the right personality to join the Do Badder community.
FYB!
*p.s. while the sound quality is not always perfect, it adds a huge degree of charm to proceedings!

FMB, this is comedy!

I have no idea how I came across this podcast, but I'm glad I did. A welcome relief from the running podcasts that take themselves a little too seriously. Jody and David have great banter, and excellent chemistry. 5/7 will eat again.

Relaxed with a bit of running and life stuff

Running features of course but relaxed wide ranging chats. The two blokes nattering format is working brilliantly here. The reason why podcasts are loved.
