Description

Can't quite remember how I stumbled onto this but loved it. LifeAfter is much better in terms of production and audio design. If you liked Black Mirror or Daemon the it will be right up your street.

Fantastic
I genuinely exciting fictional podcast. I listen to my podcasts in broadcast order and I found myself getting excited every time I knew another episode of LifeAfter was coming up. An engaging story with great voice acting. The kind of story that makes you think wonder if something like this will happen one day.

Podcast event of the year
Manages to dovetail AI, technology, FBI and bereavement into a well crafted package. Thought provoking as well as entertaining. Good acting and sound effects, can't wait for the next offering by GE podcast theatre.

A fantastic piece of audio drama that will definitely appeal to fans of the UK TV shows "Black Mirror" and "Humans". Top-notch cast, script and production made for a gripping ten episodes that screen to be binge-listened! Love it!

Both stories are so far incredible.
I went on a podcast download binge recently and therefore missed the fact that "The Message" that I loved was in fact the same as "Life After" until just now. If anything, LA is even better than TM. Absolutely captivating!!!

This is absolutely rubbish, nothing about the script or acting is good. The story is weak and the dialogue cringeworthy. I'm only listening to see if it can get more terrible than it already is....

A huge step up in quality.
I really enjoyed the message, but this new rebooted show is such a step up in quality.
The Message never quite managed to achieve the creepy unnerving tone it was striving for. Although interesting it never quite pulled off the documentary creepy pasta like other podcasts such as TANIS,The Black Tapes or Limetown.
Life After feels much more cohesive and the writing is much tighter. This new narrative is really engaging and has much more potential. There's s sense that there's been a real focus on plot. The central idea in Life After of communicating with a deceased loved one very powerful. It's the kind you find yourself thinking about long after you've finished listening. The new lead is instantly more engaging and easier to feel for.
Fantastic change and I can't wait to see where it heads.

Disappointed
I struggled to get through the first season 'The Message' due to the forced huskiness of most of the voices, they were massively grating on me. I found myself skipping through some of the characters and so missed quite a bit of the plot!
I'm now struggling to get through the second season due to the neuroticism of the main character/narrator. It's so intense and constant, he takes up 90% of the episodes so there is no break from the high strung emotion. I also find him annoying and just want to give him a slap and tell him to get a grip. Sign of great acting, just not great character / script writing. I'm not sure how much of this I can take, there needs to be a break from the neuroticism soon.

This grabbed me right from the beginning and didn't let go, awesomely subversive use of the medium, magnificent acting - like Black Mirror? You'll love After Life!

Enjoyable
This series is pretty short, if you have a long car journey planned you could smash all the episodes in one go. It isn't what I was expecting, I thought it would be a problem solving thriller but it's more like a drama series. I particularly enjoyed the final episode, I wouldn't say I was totally hooked until that point but it tidied things up nicely and made the whole thing definitely worth listening to.

Edgy and compelling narrative.
A brilliantly executed podcast that had me hooked from the first episode. Actually quite unsettling in parts and incredibly believable. Great traditional story telling with a modern delivery twist. Fantastic.

Genius?!
This is truly wonderful - beautifully acted, great production and a script that keeps you coming back for more. A very original idea that weaves its way from what you think at the beginning to a perfect ending. My only negative is that I wish I have not listened to them all and could once again be starting from the beginning as a new listener with all 8 episodes to come… I hope this team comes back wth something new soon!

WTF!!!
Could not work out if this was a real documentary or a play. Completely over acted and telling listeners they'll die if they listened to the message didn't bode well with me. What disappoints me most is that this podcast was a recommendation from 'Stuff you should know' so clearly I won't be taking anymore notice of their advertising.

I don't want to say 'execrable', but...
The actual 'message' itself is 26 seconds of high pitched gibberish, unintelligible claptrap and incomprehensible gobbledygook, that said, it's still more interesting and engaging than the actual podcast.

I won't waste your time with an exhaustive review; suffice it to say that while aspect may require the extensive suspension of belief (particularly at the offset) the claustrophobic narrative reels you in over the whole.

Dreadful ending.
I quite enjoyed the first seven episodes but the end was just abysmal. It really felt like the writers had backed themselves into a corner and handed it off to somebody who had absolutely no knowledge of what had happened before. I won't put in any spoilers but it felt like they were taking the mickey somewhat. Lazy stuff.
