I am a student of language and literature. I have been reading, writing, and studying for most of my life. I received a B.A. in English from Fresno State and then went on to receive an M.A. and Ph.D. in English at Indiana University. I am interested in literature, philosophy, history and gardening. For the last 16 years, I have been a teacher at Peninsula College and, when not working, reading, or writing, spend much of my time in my garden.

I’ve been listening to these lectures for about two years now and though I’ve recently fallen behind in my listening I must say that I love the work of Dr Cecil. It rekindled my love of philosophy and literature and thinking for thinking’s sake and I must thank him for it.
A wonderful set of lectures on famous (and some not-so-famous) thinkers that doesn’t just rattle through their writings. Wes introduces the thinkers, gives their historical context and importance and also selves into their personal lives. This gives the subject matter so much more life and makes it extremely engaging and enjoyable. What’s more, it’s often pretty funny!
Wes, I’ll continue to listen and relentlessly recommend your work to my friends, coworkers, and anyone who’ll listen to me.
Thanks for doing what you do.

If you are looking for philosophy lectures that are grounded introductions then look no further.
A mixture of philosophy, history and humanity filtered through an articulate and funny individual. You'll be gripped, you'll laugh and you will most certainly learn.
A perfect place for philosophy novices like myself to find their feet and get going. I cannot recommend it enough.
Thank you Wes!
