Variety, passion for reading and humour

Love this podcast. There are a wide variety of guests and genres, so there is always something new to hear. The host is funny, generous and knows her stuff. She can probe into people’s tastes and extract real nuggets about what and why people read in a very entertaining (yet kind) way. Everyone’s passion for reading in every format and genre shines through making it a pleasure to listen to.
The only little niggle is that a lot of the recommendations are for US books and I’m in the UK, so I can’t always get them. And the fact that my TBR list is now massive...

My favourite

I save this podcast for my drive to a work on a night shift. I savour it as l feel l’m chatting with like-minded friends. Even when the type of books chosen feels not my style at all, l always gain something from the discussion, even if it’s a thought to try the book not for the participant! Truly my favourite podcast to listen to.

Readers safe haven!!

I just found this podcast and I’m already obsessed with it!
I usually listen to it while working and I find myself pausing my work every 5 minutes to write down a title or an author that I ought to check out later.
There might be episodes that don’t resonate with every one but the overall book-talk is literally readers safe haven!
It’s a fantastic idea and I love that every episode is a discussion with a listener instead of just general book suggestions.

Love it!

Just discovered this fab podcast and am working my way through the backlist. Love to hear people talking about their reading habits and favourite books. A perfect formula - only problem it’s resulting in yet more books on my TBR list!

Fantastic new friend

I have just discovered this podcast and I feel that I have made a new friend. A classy friend who really cares about me and my love of books and writing. I have a feeling that my bookshelves will end up like Anne's - with lots of books that I am reading all at the same time. I am looking forward to taking part in the book club in 2018.

I’m binge listening to this podcast

I heard Anne ages ago on the Happy Hour with Jamie Ivey. I didn’t really get into the podcast until I saw Rider Strong was on. I loved Boy Meets World in my childhood so immediately put it on and what I found was my new favourite podcast. I think I’ve listened to half the show in the last week. I’m loving this podcast and it’s helping to renew my love of reading.

Slowly catching up with Anne, & Adding to my Wishlist

Anne Bogel has a lovely voice and this podcast is conversational and friendly. I enjoy hearing from her guests, and finding out the connections between their reads. Those who seek clean and family friendly reading, or at least content warnings about things that aren't, will appreciate her recommendations. I quite heartily enjoy all the naughty stuff I encounter, so many of her recommendations, because they are mostly wholesome, are new to me. This helps me broaden my reading horizons.
I've been keeping a list of the books I finish since 1988, and I've already consulted it for purposes of applying to be a guest. I'm not a particularly interesting person, but I am particularly interestED in knowing what Anne might suggest for me.

Brilliant recommendations

I love listening to this podcast - even if I can't keep up with all of the books I would love to read after listening to it! It feels like a book club with friends listening to Anne chat with her guests, and she makes connections between books that I would never have considered. It has made me think much more about what my favourites say about me and be more discerning in what I choose to read. I look forward to it every week!

Really great podcast

Really great podcast - my list of "To Be Read" books has grown exponentially due to Anne's recommendations. Plus as she talks to the guests about what books they love before she makes her recommendations to them, you can get an idea of what kind of books she is going come up with - which means it's easy to tell if you are likely to like them.

My new favourite bookish podcast!

I discovered What Should I Read Next? at the beginning of the year & have been listening to all of the episodes ever since. I love the format, & all of the wonderful guests that Anne invites on (& of course Anne herself!) My TBR list had increased dramatically since I started listening, which is no bad thing.

Great!

This filled the hole left when Bookriot's Reading Lives was cancelled. Engaging discussions about books with interesting bookish people.

Great conversation about great books

This podcast really just feels like you are having coffee with a good friend and discussing books - perfect.
I especially love the 'what did they read next' episodes, but they aren't sequential so just find one with at least a few books you recognise or have read and jump in!
Highly recommend for book lovers and readers of the blog Modern Mrs. Darcy.

Wonderful :)

I love love this podcast. As an English Lit graduate and reader it's so fun to hear what others are reading. This podcast always inspires me to read more, and of course adds to my TBR list! It's definitely helping me out of a reading funk and it's nice to feel part of the bookloving community that Anne has created.

Great format, great conversation

This is a great books podcast - the format of a guest discussing books they love, hate and are currently reading means the discussion is often wide-ranging.
Anne's suggestions are occasionally a bit 'samey', but I always come away with at least 1 new book to add to my wish list.
The discussion is informed and thoughtful without being pretentious, and I really enjoy listening every week.

What I have been waiting for

If there was one person who I had been willing to start a podcast it is she, Anne Bogel. 2 episodes in and already I am hooked. Her choices are usually spot on and her opinion I value highly! Great podcast.

Awesome new podcast for book lovers

Anne Bogel is the perfect person to host a book related podcast. Not only is she personable and knowledgeable about books but also she has great taste in books and has a great voice for podcasting. With her expertise and literary connections, I am excited to she who she will have as guests on her show. If you don't want your TBR list to expand then don't listen 😉
