A year before I decided to become a counsellor I overheard the word transference being mentioned by a counsellor friend and intrigued decided to look it up and came across this podcast. I haven’t stopped listening to it since and now here I am studying counselling, in part due to this fascinating podcast. Thank you both so much .

I’m coming to the end of my level 4 training and have only just discovered this podcast. I wish I had found it from the beginning! It would have been so helpful for assignments and general info. I’m finding it so useful, picking up tips and getting examples and other views. Fantastic. Thanks Rory and Ken!

I found this podcast when looking for cool things to listen to once I’d been accepted on a MSc course. Well, I’ve not even started it and already feel so calm and ready to take on the challenge of independent, child-focussed, private practice! I’m not the least bit phased knowing that this brilliant support is out there! This no-nonsense approach to the whole spectrum of counselling and psychotherapy training/working is an asset that you’d be crazy to ignore. Business skills, person skills, theory, Q&A...all backed up with masses of free notes and ‘pay for’ resources that can be cited in essays and research papers. I’m listening to them all and when I get my funding will buy the whole student package.
I’ve also learnt just enough about transference/counter transference in just the first 20 to work out why I, up to now, have been really irritated by the Manchester accent! Rory - sorry, I have grown and learnt to love your dulcet tones!! 😂

Thanks so much for the website and podcast. Love that it de-mystifies everything - suddenly everything seems rather less scary! Makes me realise that we non-academics can learn and be included in this amazing world of counselling. Dogs love it too because I walk them for HOURS while listening!

I've just started my level 2 and I can feel the impending requirement for me to take on board a massive amount of information in what will feel like such a short space of time to complete the course.
I pop a podcast on in the car whenever I can and not only am I learning but I'm laughing. Ken in particular oozes a child like enthusiasm which I find infectious.
Very insightful and inspirational. I could listen to each podcast again and again and I'm sure that I will.

Just starting Year 2 of my Level 4 diploma and am so grateful I found this resource early in Year 1; genuinely not sure how I would have coped without it. Rory and Ken give many tips on how to approach studying, together with ideas for assignments, further research, and a level of analysis that gives a trustworthy route into understanding very complex and difficult theories. Huge thanks to Rory and Ken!

I have only recently discovered the Counselling Resource and as such have had a bit of a Counselling Tutor podcast fest over the last few weeks - mainly listening when doing taxi duties for kids in the car! All the podcasts have been brilliant, open and honest. I find them so helpful in further inhancing my understandings for my L4 course and go in to year 2 soon with the knowledge that I have an extra resource to tap in to. I love the back and forth between Rory and Ken too and find myself joining in with what I now feel are catchphrases :) Theory with Rory, Counselling - that's spelt with two Ls the UK way ... and there have been a more than one reference to eating elephants ;) Many Thanks!

I started studying counselling in August 2016 - and discovered the Counselling Tutor podcasts - rather by accident - about a month later. Since that time, I have found them to be an invaluable resource, and coupled with the website and the Facebook group, they really make the learning experience more accessible and easier. Not to mention that they are a great listen - I find myself re-listening to them all the time, and now they are part of my Saturday morning ritual.
I can't emphasise enough how well thought out, informative, well-rounded and enjoyable they are to listen to. Rory and Ken do an excellent job and their impact cannot be underestimated. Fantastic!
