Like the podcast but please keep off the politics (Feeling hot, hot, hot). We get enough of that in mainstream media. Need escapism, not Rishi bashing.
Comedians Paul Tonkinson and Rob Deering talk about life and comedy - but mainly running. Whilst running. Support this show at http://supporter.acast.com/runningcommentary
I’m relatively new to running due to corona induced pool closures and after completing Couch to 5K embarked on some longer runs. I was so happy to come across this podcast. It’s like running with two friends who offer words of wisdom, encouragement and the odd bit of nonsense and laughter. Exactly what you need when your legs are feeling heavy and a stitch is setting in. Cheers lads! Love Georgie Xxx 😊👍🏻🏃♀️❤️
I love this podcast, I listen to the podcast on the way to work in the van, it is really easy to listen to, it’s funny and interesting at the same time. I would highly recommend Paul’s book too, I’ve listened to it three times, it is really, really good. The book could convince anyone to run a marathon.
Listened from the start mainly when in the car or walking the dog. Two top guys and a really good listen.
Good balance between left wing Rob and right wing sub three bloke (sorry can’t remember his name)
I’ve been a listener right from the start thanks to Paul’s runnersworld column and have to say it’s been a great listen right from day one. Both Paul and Rob are enthusiastic runners however both have a different relationship and enjoyment of running and it’s great to listen to them chat about anything & everything & nothing all at the same time. They have both kept me company on some great memorable runs and I hope they will continue too do so.
Thanks to you both for keeping this going and thank you Marshall.
I always look forward to listening to Paul & Rob on my long runs. Great banter and decent conversations. Still waiting to hear Sienna Miller......
Have listened to every episode - absolutely brilliant. Easy to listen to, great story telling, love the fact you really get to know Paul and Rob over the weeks and months.
Good guests, lots of running insights, loads of laughs.
Really enjoyed your latest podcast, only just found them ...... will listen to the rest, like running with a couple of mates and keeping my social distance
This podcast is extremely helpful when you are running on your own as it’s just like talking rubbish with a running mate in between being out of breath, just very funny rubbish. Looking forward to Thursdays which means a new episode which I then usually will listen to on a run on Friday. Can’t live without this podcast anymore.
This is quite possibly my favourite podcast - not just about running but it has so much more in it.
I really like the friendly chat - almost as if you are running alongside Rob and Paul, along with hearing about their comedy gigs, their families, their goals and thoughts on the future events.
Keep it going guys - it keeps us going on our runs!
Love listening to this on a run, funny, interesting and great to listen to Rob and Pauls take on films, books and everyday life events. On the downside I have got in the habit of interrupting the wife with “ look at those daffodils, they’re lovely”
This podcast came across my radar on and off over the months but I figured it would just be two guys talking about pace and events with a few funny bits thrown in.
But strangely, I find myself being absorbed in their run, getting caught up in dodging puddles, pedestrians, running with a cold, avoiding that van, family tidbits, and sometimes trying to guess the punchline. I can barely run and talk, and my brain l’m trying to figure out what kind of pace they’re doing where they can be so articulate during a run?
For a slow runner like myself, this is an enjoyable, accessible podcast. I’m still listening from the beginning and pacing myself 😀
Only just discovered this podcast, and it’s superb. Helps with my night shifts and looking forward to listening to one on a run soon.
I’d be lost if I had to run on my own now without these superb humans. I love these podcasts...I started listening in July 2019 from the very beginning. Still catching up to current day but I’m loving every episode.
Just good company on a run👍🏿
Brilliant !! can’t run without these two anymore, great bantz
Simply the best. Better than all the rest.
Listened to Sophie Raworth’s episode on today’s run. Inspiring, entertaining & kept me running for my first no walking run this year. It’s been a difficult year mentally & my running has really suffered. So a great podcast to support a gwelcome return to running form.
Funny, interesting and genuinely helpful. It’s like going on a long run with two very funny friends you don’t actually have. It’s not all about comedy and it’s not all about running. I think to really get the best out of it take it with you on your run... it makes so much more sense.
The marathon episode alone is worth 5 starts .
It’s all great except the weird looks you get when you laugh out loud while running down the road
Love listening to this on my runs. Thanks for the company guys!
Perfect combo of humour and info. Love it that they’re running whilst doing the podcast. Very relatable guys.
Not for me. Found the running-while-talking, wind-on-mics, slightly-out-of-breath nature of it just too chaotic and couldnt concentrate on the content.
I started listening to this podcast as entertainment while running. Pretty soon it started to feel like I was running with a couple of mates. I can’t give this podcast any higher praise than saying it has become one of the ‘flags’ for my week. Something I look forward to and enjoy catching up with.
Running Commentary is a vital part of my weekly training routine, not because it’ll make me a better runner, but because It’s just pure pleasure and has jack-all to do with training.
The format is brilliant, two superb comedians having some down time between gigs by going for a run together. Genuinely interesting chitchat and ‘bloke-ish’ cameraderie, and very funny to boot!
They interview interesting guests as well as talk about topical things, and they frequently venture off-piste into the wonderful world of comedy and entertainment as well.
It’s a great show, and one I always look forward to and am never disappointed!
Fantastic podcast, I've listened to this on every commute and most runs since I discovered it, no idea what I'll do when I've caught up 😳 Both presenters are very likeable (even though I wasn't keen on Paul before I heard this!) and it's a perfect blend of general chat, interesting comedy insights and useful running advice. I couldn't run to a podcast before this but the fact you know they're running makes it quite inspiring.
That’s it basically though with some of the worst Bob Dylan impressions I’ve heard for a while (Actually Rob’s arent too bad).
I only discovered this podcast about 3 months ago but have already listened to the first 52 episodes. Brilliant accompaniment to a long run and you also pick up some really good tips. Fantastic
A very amusing podcast that deals with all things running with a healthy dose of anecdotes from 2 very funny guys.
Although I have only listened to 3 episodes, it feels like I am running with friends when I listen during a run.
I can’t recommend this podcast enough.
Keeps me company while driving and keeps me motivated to run
Absolutely love this podcast - I listen to it at all other times than when I'm running (ears-free when I run as no paths here and it's a kind of life-preservation thing) and it makes me laugh as well as feel connected to the running world. Thank you :)
Got me through my half today listening to these guys.
In fact I rarely listen to music now and instead put these guys on.
Easy to listen to and it feels like your running with them.
Keep up the good work guys.
As a new runner I was looking for an informative podcast. I came across Running Commentary and absolutely love it!!! The guys are hilarious!
I have taken to listening to this podcast whilst running and it's almost like being on a run with them.
Highly recommend- keep up the good work guys!
I've really got into the podcast, especially as the chaps built up to then raced Bath half and London marathon. They go through similar experiences to all runners, but insert humour in a natural and unforced manner.
I've now cancelled my 'Runners world' subscription- 'Tonky Talk' was the only consistently good thing in it. This podcast more than satisfies my 'Tonky' fix! Oh, and the other blokes quite funny too!!
Great listen whilst running, listening to people running whilst talking about running sometimes with other runners also talking about running to the runners and repeat :-)
Very funny, insightful, and charming. Just two blokes running and chatting. Laugh out loud moments and the appreciation of their surrounding make this a wonderful listen.
Lovely lighthearted run chat from two comedians (you'll probably have a favourite) who run and talk about all sorts of subjects as their minds and eyes wander. Perfect for lone runners - although I usually listen when I'm driving, which can be odd. Production quality is pretty good thanks to the mcdonalds/Madonna headsets.
Two guys going for a run, chatting about life, the world, running, the things they run. It makes for a great 'companion' to my runs. Excellent!
P.s. Paul you were in the wrong in Episode 2 (it's polite to ask permission). P.p.s. Your column in RunnersWorld was some of the best writing on running I've read. The one where you slow down & help your son get a PB was genuinely moving.
I don't have a running buddy but this podcast is the next best thing.
two friends just chatting away whilst running, great to listen to whatever you are doing.
thanks for making this
Very much enjoy Rob and Pauls podcast, funny, insightful chat to pass the many beautiful miles of running in Galloway. Keep it up!
Best running podcast I’ve listened to yet. Brilliant having the perspective of two ordinary and extremely witty guys who just love running. Being fairly new to London and living around N16 I have got some good tips on running routes, always a bonus. I hope you guys continue this even though London is now over.
What is on the card next? Following Rob and Paul's endeavours towards their first ultra? I hope so!
really enjoying this, I save it to listen to on my runs, thanks everso Rob and Paul, I really hope you keep doing this:)
Feels like you are running just behind listening in to their conversation. I love the unstructured nature of their chat, aimed at runners of all abilities.
After tearing my calf and surrendering my London Marathon place, things were gloomy, but then came across this.
It's funny, motivating, and they seem like genuinely nice guys. Have gone for a rehab run listening to it, it's like being in a conversation where you can save your breath, fantastic.
So enjoying this. Feels like listening in on a great but normal and intelligent conversation.
Interesting podcast. Not the usual Over Motivated Americans trying to fill you full of various interesting waffle. Two great guys off for a run, great chat and interesting comments all the way. Thanks for the time you put into this great podcast
