Absolutely brilliant

I think this is one of the very best true crime podcasts. I like the delivery, the amount of detail in each case and I like Robin’s own observations - he often says exactly what I was just thinking. I also like the fact that he often gives his own ideas about the most likely scenario in each mystery. Just great ! Definitely recommend.

A must listen!

I listen to a lot of true crime podcasts, but this one is simply unique and a must listen! Robin (The host) has a great delivery, an upbeat story teller with enthusiasm and passion, someone who tells the stories who genuinely has interest, rather than just reading notes and making it sound like a chore. Research is well done, credit given to others when it should be and a podcast I can literally listen to at any time, any mood, any situation - it’s one from a small group that I always come back to. Keep up the great work Robin.

Exceptionally high quality and respectful

This is one of the outstanding true crime podcasts active today, and deserves a much wider listener base. An excellent choice of cases, very varied and engaging, and the production is A+. Most importantly, it never feels exploitative or takes cheap shots.

Best crime podcast!

I’ve been looking for a good crime podcast for a while, glad I found the trail went cold! Love how the narrator doesn’t have a mono boring voice so it makes listening so much easier. Really interesting cases, can’t wait to hear more!

Good solid pod!

I like this pod - the host Is great, moves well from opening to storytelling and includes enough bells and whistles to keep things engaging. The audio could do with being cleaned up a little but otherwise top marks.

So high pitched!

This guy needs to calm down! Take a breath and stop screeching! Absolutely awful, which is a shame cause the cases could be interesting

Trevor Deely

I agree with the narrator’s conclusions about what might have happened to Trevor. I hope his family get some closure to this case soon. So sad.

Interesting, respectful and in depth

Very compelling and well researched, with touches of personality without being disrespectful towards the subject matter.
Nb - Having listened to pretty much the whole back catalogue, the host really hits his stride after Episode 10, so if you're listening to an episode to see if you'll like it, I recommend trying one after the first ten.

Brilliant

Love this podcast. Only request is please bring back the creepy piece of music from early episodes (sounds like it’s on a xylophone, maybe but probably not!) it really enhances the creep factor.

Good podcast!!

I love Robin from all his crime post on list verse however, I wish there were more recent content all of the cases seem to be at least 50 years old!! I would love more cases from the last 20 years at least. Overall a good podcast

Clue Man Group

I'm fairly green to the true crime podcast scene (aside from Serial and a handful of others) but I really enjoy this show. The presenter's voice seems to be garnering a lot of negative attention (I think he sounds like Tobias Funke) but the guy clearly knows his stuff and he doesn't sound as bad as people are saying. He does seem to have a major hard on for the Unsolved Mysteries show, which is mildly amusing to me, but he does his research, spins a good yarns and genuinely seems to want these mysteries to be solved.

It’s ok

I really want to like this podcast and have persevered with it as there are some interesting cases, but I find it difficult to listen to, because of the tone of voice of the presenter. I feel bad for saying it but he sounds like Kermit the frog and it can be so off putting. Also the episodes don’t seem long enough and the content isn’t as in-depth as other crime podcasts.

Unsubscribed

The host is so annoyingly jolly and high-pitched. Makes for a hard listening experience. In the 2nd episode the up-and-down singsong voice and unneccessary dramatics drove me mad. Enough.

This is the first podcast I ever listened to!

I love the way Warder approaches this topic: with respect and logic. It can be hard to find true crime stories that aren't too sensationalistic or insensitive which has put me off the genre in the past. There are some really fascinating cases here that are well worth a listen.

Love it.

I love this podcast. It's just totally straightforward and informative. No stupid quirky crap. I don't know how I feel about the adverts starting to creep in. I really hope it doesn't ruin the podcast.

My favourite True Crime podcast

This show is perfect. Interesting, gripping, well researched and not too lurid. More about the mysteries than the gory details. Robin Warder is one of my favourite podcast hosts - really easy to listen to and his research seems great.

Ruined by host's voice

The host is so annoying! This was recommended to me as I listen to pretty much all true crime podcasts. Started the first episode and had to switch off after the host kept going on and on about himself. Tried another 3 episode and nope, can't do it. He needs to stop the dramatisation in his voice, the high pitches hurt.

Interesting but

I think someone told the narrator to 'speak with gravitas', the result is slow and affected. Like Robert Peston meets James Bond.

Highly addictive podcast!

I very rarely write reviews for anything, but I felt I had to do one for The Trail Went Cold as it is one of my favourite podcasts. Actually, it may even be my favourite! Robin Warder does excellent research and covers each case in an informative and interesting manner, and there are many cases which I wasn’t previously familiar with. I find Robin's voice very easy to listen to, and eagerly await each new episode. Long may it continue!

Format Works

Well done on a fantastic show. Interesting cases which are well presented in a format that works. No issues with the presenting style which aims for a professional approach similar to the shows which inspiration is being drawn from.

Fascinating and compelling

I love the long episode and minisodes The presenter researchers each case extremely well displaying such enthusiasm/passion for his subject area that his delivery is sometimes A little too effervescent at times! Although, I have to admit I find his overly cheerful almost preachy teacher like delivery sometimes irritating but he cannot help this little defect. One cannot help the way one speaks. I accidentally found this on iTunes while looking for something els. I am so glad I stumbled upon this little gem because I can't stop listening to past episodes

Indelicate.

I cannot stand this guy. He has the worst tone for a show for missing people. He sounds entertained and disrespectful to the victims and their families. He thinks he's hilarious.

Really puzzling and enjoyable

I like how these aren't stories I've heard before - this just makes it more enjoyable whilst raising the profile of these forgotten people. The host is unwaveringly enthusiastic.

Just keeps getting better!

Excellent cases covered! Sound quality is improving. Voice isn't my favourite in the podcasting world. But, enthusiasm makes up for it in my opinion! I do think the music playing under the narration is a bit of a distraction. Tend to need to rewind & replay sections bc I've missed what was said. Either needs to omit completely, or adjust the volume of the music much lower.
Hope they continue to improve! Recommend.
