Daniel P Carter (BBC Radio 1) talking to artists about music, art, culture and the esoteric...
Daniel is an incredible force for positive thought in this bleak wasteland of a world we’re living in. His way of thinking and stream of consciousness with his guests is something to be admired. A genuine artist that really resonates with myself and a lot of people.
Dan has an incredible knack for nurturing conversations with each guest. Each episode takes on its own life around the art and process of creating music, incredibly insightful.
This isn’t a music journo getting a scoop and this isn’t a music pushing a product. Thanks for putting these out there, big up Above All
Much appreciated work, interviews with some of the finest artists/magicians around. Cheers.
The thing about Daniel P. Carter is that every time you leave one of his podcast you have a variety of feelings. In the first instance I always feel pensive because his interview, if you can call them that, no disrespect meant. Are always very thought provoking. I often think about them for several days afterwards.
The interview comment is because of the ease with which Dan allows you to have a windows into. Conversation between two people. These podcasts are not interviews in the truest sense of the word they are deeper than that. It’s a wind into engaging conversations between friends and acquaintances of which you wouldn’t have such depth in a regular music interview.
I can speak highly enough of the way Dan draws you in with his disarming, calm and guiding manner. There is no sensationalising or looking to work an angle to pull a story that can be twisted into other mediums. It’s like listening to a top not documentarian and I can not speak higher than that. Check them out, enjoy them for what they are and consider yourself blessed to be able to look into places you wouldn’t normally be able to.
Awesome from the get go, great subjects and insight with some really interesting hat tips to other related media to check out. Loved it 👌🏻
Big fan of DPC’s radio show, and this is a great compliment. In depth interviews and chat that you don’t get in a four minute radio cut. Eagerly await each episode.
Hey Dan, really enjoying the podcast. Great guests and interviews. “It’s a beautiful thing” is becoming part of my everyday language now, thanks! :)
Terrific assortment of guests with candid and engaging interviews...thanks!
A great Podcast exploring the creative process with a stellar lineup of guests looking at the seemingly mystical and spiritual elements of the artistic process
These interviews are engaging and are always more than just a standard interview about the music/ art but about the people themselves and what drives them. The interviews are always with interesting artists too!
SWIM podcasts by Daniel P Carter are like nothing else out there, delivered by one of the best in the music business. Candid conversations no matter who appears, the podcast offers a glimpse deeper than just music or art but to the people themselves.
If you’re not listening then your missing out on something special.
Because of his empathy for his subjects, Dan P. Carter's 'Someone Who Isn't Me' podcast works in subtle yet revealing fashion as he prompts his interviewees into slowly revealing their most innermost thoughts on the creative & everything else in-between.
Loved this series of interviews. DPC goes in like a hard rocking Louis Theroux with people who've lived interesting dark lives and aren't afraid to tell their stories. Anyone with a passing interest in alternative lifestyles and cultures will dig this. My two favourite episodes have been with Alan Moore (both parts) and Jaz Coleman, cos I like Magick and that. This should be mandatory if you like the R1 Rock Show cos it's all about going deeper than the BBC would like. Wicked show, get some.
Love Daniel P Carter’s interviewing style, very conversational. Often goes into incredibly interesting topics out of left field. Good work
Best podcast out there by a mile. Always insightful with a great mix of guests. Just got round to listening to the Billy Corgan interview. As with the majority I’ll be listening to it again.
Dan makes for a great interviewer and whether or not your a fan of the rock show it’s well worth subscribing. Brilliant.
Been listening to Dan on the radio for a long time now,got switched on to this from his twitter feed a few months back and am now ploughing through all of them. Fantastic in-depth interviews with super interesting folks, not just a standard music interview. Get on board folks, ace work Dan
All the episodes I’ve listened to are really interesting and they give you an insight on certain topics that the guests wouldn’t normally talk about in your average interview. Natural.
One of the best podcasts I’ve listened to, it never disappoints! It’s always in-depth and interesting no matter who is on.
Literally the best podcast I’ve ever come across with some of the most talented artists around!
It’s great if you want to learn more or even zone out from the world, and honestly the best content!!
Thank you for S.W.I.M
Only recently I stumbled upon Daniel P Carter's SWIM podcast and instantly fell in love with it. Well researched in-depth interviews with interesting musicians/ artists. It doesn't feel scripted or forced in any way but more like a natural conversation about music and art. Favourite episodes include Chino Moreno, Oliver Sykes and Kat Von D.
A beautiful podcast for anyone. The conversations Dan has with his guests are mind blowing and opened my mind up to concepts and theories I wasn’t aware of. Personal highlight for me was Sam Carter’s episode, as it opened my mind up to Veganism, which since I have actively perused. <3
Of the many I've had the pleasure of listening to, (not quite got through them all, just yet!), Dan really gets the most out of his guests, all of which have fascinating stories to tell and ideas to share.
Keep up the great work.
Still one of the best podcasts around. Superb guests!
Always talks to interesting people about interesting subjects. Some really emotional conversations occur too. Really love the individual artwork for each episode too. I highly recommend this podcast!!!
I think as human beings, it’s only natural to have an opinion about bands, musicians and even people.
Sometimes we won’t understand the effort that goes into a project or how much passion, time, effort etc can go into something like an album or a painting.
Listening to SWIM gives you a genuine connection to the guest on such a human level.
For me personally, I’ve found myself being more understanding than say, a gut response to ‘just the music out of context’ towards these talented folks and their life directions after hearing their personal stories.
I’ve discovered some incredible bands I’ve (crazily) never thought to look into before (Baroness for example) and to top it all off, Daniel P. Carter is such a great host, it’s like sitting round a table with friends and hearing snippets of their life.
Wonderful stuff, highly recommend.
Brilliantly frank and compelling interview.
If other podcasts started the long format conversation, this one nails it for being genuinely about the guests, the diversity of the flow of the topics, the intelligence, and openness to discuss seemingly anything.
Genuinely the most interesting podcast I listen to.
Hearing people I respect and admire talking so candidly is one of the best ways to get to work!
All episodes are highly recommended with the Jaz Coleman and Alan Moore ones being personal favourites.......DOWNLOAD THEM ALL NOW.
ADDENDUM - I have now listened to the Alan Moore ones multiple times and get more information each time I do. more please.
Great artists interviewed really well. Love it. Would be sick if it was uploaded more often!!!
Great podcast. Dan comes up with some great questions and episode 18 with Dan Searle is just incredible.
Love listening to this podcast, especially with certain band members who I know, and enjoy getting an insight into their thoughts about various matters. Particularly enjoyed Oli Sykes, Sam Carter, Jason Butler and Dan Searle.
Have listened to ALL of the episodes - always enlightening in some way with interesting guests.
Have just been on an emotional rollercoaster listening to Dan Searle from Architect talking about the loss of his twin brother Tom. Thank you, for baring your soul and answering all of the questions we all thought it too crass to ask.
A must for any fan. Thank me later
The way that Carter discusses, reflects and contemplates with each guest is brilliant. Really inspires topics of thought and gives you an insight into some of most brilliant minds in the industry. Especially Ross Robinson and the purity and "blackout" of the art form. Basically if you subscribe you'll only be doing yourself a favour!
Every single podcast is so interesting. I love that Dan doesn't just talk "shop" with each of his guests and the interviews go off into places you don't expect. Always get excited when a new episode appears. Great job!
truely great hosting by daniel p carter. i only wish that the interviewees continue to be as intresting and inspiring. so far, 2 of my personal heroes have been on (alan moore & chino moreno) to people i no little about (Ross robinson, ben wienmann). Proper good stuff. Well worth a listen
If you love art, music, creativity, meaning, depth, knowledge, inspiration & want a deeper meaning to live/stuff then this is the podcast for YOOOOOU! ✌🏼
The kind of long form, in-depth interviews that few people do with musicians. Carter's knowledge and love of the art form shines through and he never fails to get something fascinating out of the discussions.
I had never herd of this podcast nor the band architects, but I have simply never felt so connected to the voices of strangers on a podcast and agree so actively with everything they said. LISTEN TO THIS!!!! Peace Out
Dan has great guests and stays away from the usual promotional side of radio interviews. The guests have all been engaging and insightful. One tiny criticism is that the podcasts can be really quiet. Dan seems a quiet laid back kind of guy naturally but damn I have to crank it in the car to hear properly. Keep up the good work
Being the important figure in the music scene that he is, Daniel P. Carter is perfectly positioned to host and develop a podcast like this. With so many connections spanning the entire Rock/Metal spectrum, each guest is unique, engaging and full of insight that is always fascinating and makes my commute infiitely more enjoyable. Even the episodes with people I don't have as much of an interest in are enjoyable, because the conversations are always relevant to my interests. I look forward to hearing some of the extended interviews you have in the vault that have been mentioned a couple of times! Thanks Dan. Keep up the stellar work.
A great music podcast. Every episode has been interesting, even those of artists I have little to no interest in. Great sound quality too. One of the best music/art podcasts out there
Not been into this genre of music for a bit but great intelligent interviews has once again turned my head.Great work Daniel
Excellent podcasts with well thought out questions. Always great to hear an interviewer give their subject time to expand, elucidate and wander on topics. The Alan Moore episodes in particular are excellent and it seems to be a rare gift for interviewers to just let ther subject talk, rather than having to hear their own voice.
Of insights and open existential discussion. Magick ➕
Just finished the Sam Carter podcast and will listen to many more.
