Would be top draw, but sadly Tony Evans cannot go a single show without taking shots at Manchester United. 2 stars.

Football Podcast for Brexiteers

I think the clue is in the title - Football Writers. They maybe good at writing but not so good at speaking. If you like sentences which include all the classics such as obviously, honestly, at the end of the day and you know. This is perfect for my Dad or any other white middle aged male who isn't that keen on foreigners and likes to state opinion as facts. Dull, little Englander views on football expressed in a fashion not out of place down the local boozer. I'm guessing time to think and other people editing their views is what makes them successful writers? Avoid if you are tired of cliches and moronic chat.

It should be FIVE but Darren Lewis goes off on his ill informed nonsensical rants and I have to skip it. That is the beauty of not listening live but none the less, gotta mark you down guys. sorry......
Blame Darren.

Used to listen to this regularly but they need to fact check more and not feed off sensationalist headlines and click bait.
“Man City have a small fan base”, check the average attendance now and when we were in league 1.
This is still playing catch up to Sunday supp.

I’ve always really enjoyed this podcast, subscriber for about a year, but in the past few months I have found it more and more unlistenable.
For a group of journalists to just pick out headlines, not analyse their contexts, and throw rash statements based on a click-bait headline, doesn’t make for good listening.

Certainly the best of its type by far. Journalists who have a genuine feel for the English game. Michael Calvin a great anchor man.

Top notch football insight, but the show clearly has an obsession with Mourinho/Manchester United

Top notch football insight, but the show clearly has an obsession with Manchester United/Mourinho that takes discussion time away from even more pressing topics of the week when twenty minutes every week is dedicated to the aforementioned subjects.
This coming from a United fan, but the panel is clearly given a directive by BT Sport to dedicate a large chunk of time every week to United/Moutinho at the top of the show even when, as mentioned, other topics are clearly more urgent/pressing/fresh/logical to lead with. For instance, this week Gareth Southgate and England would have been more appropriate as the lead discussion topic.
It’s a shame, though, considering the format and discussion is very interesting otherwise.

Poor. Time to change. Can Mike keep his job?

I’d like to remind you guys that there are 19 other teams in the Premier League other than Manchester United. I would also like to remind you that means there are 19 other managers in the premier league also. It disgusts and angers me that you would put so much air time to the manager of Manchester United just because he is struggling in his role. I would also like to point out some massive flaws in your research. One of the “experts” described Jose as lucky with the run of fixtures prior to Christmas meaning that he won’t face one of the big sides. A very quick glance at the Sky Sports schedule will show United live on TV away at Chelsea and Man City before the third international break and then away at Liverpool two weekends before Christmas. A basic knowledge of the workings of the premier league will tell us that you pretty much play all opposition before Christmas. Not always all away from home! A Liverpool fan predicting a “spanking” in that fixture is not an educated opinion and one that I can hear down the pub. Is it a form of Bias that he allows opinions to be formed based on his knowledge of his own club? Possibly casual bias at best. Agenda plaid out at BT and our expense at worst
Looking over the titles of these podcasts shows one mans name repeated and the tone of the comments are alarming “Can Europe save Mourinho?” etc. I would also think that when you are taking about Spurs vs Barca you can take the time to preview that game properly. Not bring up Jose once again, linking Jose with Barca or Inter what on earth has that got to do with Spurs vs Barca! No vacancy at either club, and the comments that followed were so disrespectful on somebody who has won more than most and in over two full seasons at United has won the Europa League, the league cup and led United to second well above a Liverpool side you very occasionally praise!
As you can tell from reading this I support United home and away and consider myself reasonably measured in the way I view the club. My opinion for what it’s worth? Are United better than City or Liverpool right now? No, I don’t think so at all. Over 38 games will they be better than Chelsea, Spurs, Arsenal, Everton etc? Probably at least most of them but they have to win games to prove that. It’s certainly not up to me if they sack the manager, it’s even less so your concern. If it happens, it happens. Speculation is lazy and pointless. We don’t make these decisions. Especially not after four or seven games. Am I disappointed that United loose ground in fixtures against Brighton and West Ham? Yes, but no team has a right to show up and win at these places and praise should be given to those teams who won games more. Am I surprised when they lose those fixtures and don’t show the same consistency as City and Liverpool? No, not really as I said. Right now and this season United are not as good. As sad as it is they have fallen away because of the way the club is run as much if not more than how the team is managed. Every time they drop points as sad as it is to me, it shouldn’t cause a podcast title. It’s not the only thing happening across the premier league. I feel disappointed with how we play, I’ve been to many games when we haven’t played well. There are 11 players on the pitch who mostly aren’t performing and the focus shouldn’t be on one man who isn’t on that pitch. There are a lot of individuals in that side hiding behind the manager and the star player. I don’t do a crap days work and then blame my boss, it shouldn’t be accepted in football either. I don’t hear you guys praising Chris Hughton for an unreal job or the West Ham manager for turning things around. You won’t talk about Pep in glowing terms even 10% of the time you slate Jose and it needs to stop. I watch a game and I feel disappointed with my team, I listen to you guys and I hear inaccuracies and opinions that put me on a real downer! Times are changing, we need better from podcasts like this you can’t get away with padding out your own beliefs. You need to be telling us things we don’t know about the game not ramming your personal beliefs about this and that. Always negative, always brings me down.
I will listen to one more podcast in the hope you address this. Otherwise I’m giving up and spending my time listening to those more informed. Down the pub maybe, you’ve driven me to that! Cheers!

Why oh why do you have Alyson Rudd on this podcast? Her views and opinions are outlandishly biased and she can’t go 5 minutes without mentioning Gylfi Sigurdsson, despite the fact he hasn’t done anything in about 15 months!

Consistently excellent, something I look forward to each week. Football opinions or talking points that differ from the standard fare, and all the better for it. Regularly delve into the lower leagues to highlight stories often ignored. Just classy all round.

I've been listening since day one and was delighted to hear a football podcast without having to listen to the unwanted opinions of Alison Rudd. It's been a serious challenge to find a regular pod without her whiny voice on it and I was delighted to find my safe haven.
Unfortunately, she's found the secret room this was being recorded in and i'm back on the search again.
Would have been 5 star, but you're losing one for not double locking the recording studio door.

Biased tosh. 3/4 of the podcast covers Arsenal, the other quarter covers the rest of the top 4.
What about the rest of the PL teams?
Ah right, you don't care because you're based in London.
Utter garbage.

Good round up of the weekly football games and talking points. Decent content apart from Tony Evans who talks of his own opinion as if it's fact and comes across as quite overbearing. The host is good and it's worth a listen.

The analysis is top notch but the producer and audio editor has some questions to answer. There are huge amounts of sibilance when you listen to this on headphones. Every single 's' sound in the speech rips through your ears. Few plugins (a dynamic EQ or a De-esser) and a bit of time would get this 5 stars.
