Was my favourite…

This podcast used to be my favourite of all podcasts. Wonderfully funny and something I looked forward to. I’m sorry to say, my opinion on this has now changed. Because I do not subscribe to the show, the only podcasts I am able to listen to are mostly the ‘collection’ stories. These collections concentrate on one topic with clips being used from past shows, no doubt previously broadcasted to the subscribing listeners. They may well be funny when played amongst other story lines in a podcast, but when they are all the same, the podcast becomes boring. Additionally, the podcast used to be mainly around football with a number of other character sketches in between. Perhaps it still is if you subscribe!

Actually makes you laugh out loud

Find myself laughing to this more than any other podcast. How does he come up with so much unique, clever content? Very enjoyable!

The greatest podcast ever

I drive home listening to this and it’s a wonder I don’t crash, I’m laughing that much.
A joyous window in to the mind of Bob Mortimer. And he’s found another perfect comedy partner in Andy Dawson. The way they make each other laugh is so endearing. I’d give it six stars if I could.

Disappointed

Not kidding when i say this podcast is the funniest one out there.
But lack of regular episodes has killed it, need to get back in the studio lads.

So funny

I absolutely love this podcast, it has me laughing out loud at work or when I’m running. I love it as much as I love a lumpy lumpy chicken wrap.

Bob

is one of those lucky people who is impossible not to love. Imagine our cosmic good fortune that he found Jim Moir. The fact that Andy can’t hope to keep up, and that his characters are as unlikeable and unfunny as Bob’s are effortlessly hilarious and lovable, is not therefore a criticism. It’s just inevitable. Imagine the curse of being asked by Maradona to go for a kick around. There is so much to love on here regardless. Ps the brass hands were Vic’s idea, he uses them in interviews 20 years ago.

Have you ever noticed?

When you’re listening to this podcast you forget to buy oil for your brass hand, and you end up knocking your iPhone onto the floor and can’t pick it back up because your brass hand has gone all rusty? Have ya? Have ya noticed that?!

No new episodes in months

Really sad to write this as I used to love this podcast and think Bob is hilarious, but there’s been no new content in months, just re runs of old episodes and compilations. I’m a subscriber, and I appreciate its not a lot of money, but when you’re paying for a podcast you expect new content every now and then, but today is yet another re run. Probably going to unsubscribe, and it’s a real shame to have to say that.

Like Bob’s brass hand oil, missing!

Oof, where to start with Mince? Well, the truth is, if you’re new to the pod and love Bob Mortimer you are in for the loveliest treat of your life, as since it started and up to about 2022 Athletico Mince was the funniest of the podcasts hands down, just for Bob’s fantastically creative mind. However, his cohost Andy Dawson has got a comedy strike rate of about 5% and either piggybacks on Bobs work or his own stuff just doesn’t land, so that’s problem one: Bob is and always has carried the pod. Problem two is, I think the podcast has just run out of juice. Bob’s health has not been great as we know and he’s been so tied up with the fishing show, I just don’t know how much time he can invest in this. Subsequently all we’ve had for quite some time now are compilations and parsnips episodes and even Bob has become guilty of beating a concept to death (if I have to hear “country effing music” one more time, I’m giving up). I think much like Reeves and Mortimer, herein lies comedy gold! But there does come a time when people move on to pastures new as Bob has with Paul Whitehouse and even that’s now got a few seasons under its belt. It might be time to put mince to bed and we can all revisit it in its finery for years to come instead of churning out a spent force.

Re-hashed dog dirt

I agree with another listener…. This used to be the best podcast around but lack of new episodes has killed it.
I suggest it gets retired or shot as it’s legs have gone and it fells like you’re asking for money for k not a lot of output…

D’ya remember when it used to be frequent?

For years Athletico Mince had been the only podcast I listened to religiously, and certainly the only one I subscribed to.
But, the lack of new episodes over the past year has made me stop subscribing. Granted, it’s not a huge amount of money, but it still feels like paying something to get nothing. Or paying to hear the same thing you heard (and paid for) 18 months ago.
Bob, Andy - Mince is brilliant. But if you haven’t got the time to keep it going, just tell us, and that.

Peanutsssssss

Was introduced to this by a friend who said, “ just listen......I can’t explain what it is”. It’s worth the looks I get at work when there’s silence in the office and I start crying with laughter. It’s a great injection of humour, that I’ve desperately needed over the last year.
Update to this review. I am now on my second warning due to listening to this in the office. Crying with laughter is apparently distracting

Beyond Me

I’m afraid this just confirms to me that whilst I loved Bob on Shooting Stars (not the later series) and WILTY and also his autobiography, most of his stuff just ain’t for me. I’ve sat through two episodes and don’t get it.

Dog dirt

Beautifully crafted, exceptional, mostly-scripted comedy from the excellent Bob Mortimer & Andrew Dawson, who have wonderful podcast chemistry and have put together a ripping show. My personal favourite are the Peter Beardsley bits. It must be a lot of work to put it all together, unlike the boys I have no creative talent so can’t imagine. To Bob & Andy I say a heartfelt “thanks” and “please keep it up!’ To my fellow listeners I recommend this highly and add - Don’t wait as long as I did to leave a 5-star review & subscribe to the show! The bonus content is more than worth it :-)

A new appreciation of football

If I had known that real life footballers have pet snakes and provide their wives with boiled eggs and then pop down to the meat salon for Armadillo nostril fritters then I would have been a big fan years ago. Sort it out FIFA.

Blue drinks and Alsatian Tod

Very tasty, visible from a considerable distance and almost totally hypoallergenic. The two presenters sound quite clean and punctual. Some of the stories don’t sound like they are true, however.

Absolutely Hilarious! 😂

I’ve loved Bob Mortimer since Vic Reeves Big Night Out but I’ve only recently discovered this podcast. I can honestly say that it’s Bob Mortimer at his hilarious best! Andy Parsons is the perfect foil for him to bounce off and it’s left me absolutely crying with laughter! Brilliant stuff!

Ace but Sweary

I’m in no way a prude, a well placed and presented four letter word can be comic genius but Im not used to this fowl language from Bob. It detracts slightly but I like it, though at a reduced volume so as not to offend other family members.

Best Podcast out there

Always been a massive fan of Robert. Seen a lot of people say he should drop Andy or work with another comedian. It’s such an amazing podcast that clearly Andy is doing something right! Who doesn’t love the waiter at Slaughter’s or hearing him try not to piss his pants laughing?!
Have got so many people into this but always recommend starting at the beginning and investing in at least 10. Not one disappointed customer yet!

JOE SWASH

Genius. Utter genius. National treasure Bob Mortimers left of centre outlook on life makes for a 30 minute dog walk listen that more often than not leaves me wheezing for breath at the end of it, and has helped me firmly cement my place in the village as the madman who guffaws out loud whilst walking his dog in the morning. Dog dirt.

Brilliant, often snot-inducingly so

At its best it’s unbelievably good, and another part of Bob cementing himself as one of the funniest people we have. Andy clings on for dear life at times, as anyone would have to, but if all he ever did in life was the first instalment of Roy Hodgson’s “Warrramma” he could retire proud

Leave Andy alone

Bob is clearly a genius but I reckon Andy holds his own. To begin with I thought the layered stories that build over countless episodes meant I wouldn’t be able to dip in and out of the awesome back catalogue but, like Neighbours or a test match, it turns out you can. You don’t need to know much about footy but you do need to enjoy ludicrous, surreal comedy and cheap meat.

5 Stars for Bob

Bob, fantastic as always, so so funny. The other bloke not so much. Bob could make anything funny, so I’d love to see him drop the dead wood and work with someone funny. But whether he does or not Bob will always carry the show
