Always strikes the right balance between entertaining and informative. There’s a good nod to stats but doesn’t overload the show with them. Ali and George are excellent hosts as well as football enthusiasts. Always look forward to show dropping Monday teatime!

Excellent pod from guys who are erudite, articulate and often funny without trying to be comedians. George & Ali are also extremely analytical and knowledgeable, which really makes the pod what it is. No tired old cliches here, just a really informative and entertaining listen.

I really enjoy this pod. It’s reignited my interest in the EFL. Every episode I hear something interesting about a team, a manager or a player and I find myself going down rabbit holes reading more about them afterwards.

The betting show is great too.

Not thrilled about the relationship with The Athletic, given some of the owner’s comments, but everyone’s got to make a living.

Tuned in a few times over the years, never really got into it because of the morbid tones.

Not a lot of back and forth, feels like they don’t really gel? No idea, not an expert. Just heard better out there. Also, just a commentary on betting which isn’t really why I’m there.

Started listening 17/18 season when Sunderland were getting relegated from the Championship. Fairly insightful comment from both, however the rhetoric from George Elek about the lads is bitter and unnecessary. Sunderland fans don’t expect to be in the Premier League, we aren’t good enough. We’re a very well supported club in League One and that’s where we deserve to be at the moment. Without anymore mediocre signings such as Grigg, hopefully we can win the league this year, although we don’t expect to do so; not without proper investment anyway. I am only one listener, genuinely thought it was a good pod but for i won’t be bothering.

Hugely enjoyable podcast stewarded by Ali Maxwell and George Elek. It’s a balanced run through of a Football League week and the knowledge shown by the presenters is very wide ranging – I know from experience as the co-editor and founder of The Two Unfortunates website how difficult it is to keep up with 72 clubs and how easy it is to get into trouble with partisan fans on social media. George and Ali are always good humoured. Despite what some say, it’s actually nowhere near as statistical as claimed – there is heavy emphasis on just one stat – expected goals – while there the podcast concerns itself overwhelmingly with what happens on the pitch – football finance and other issues are generally left to others. There is also a betting show which appears in the feed and which I don’t always listen to but I find it to be interesting when I do. A great effort to maintain a pod for so long.

Excellent podcast, really interesting listen every week the guys really know their stuff about the glorious Skybet and the interview podcasts are usually brilliantly researched and good fun!

Can get a bit statty (is that a word?) and obviously a lot of gambling talk too, so if that’s not your thing then probably not for you, fortunately that’s right up my street!

Easily the best podcast that covers the EFL. The presenters have a great in depth knowledge of all three divisions and their NTT20 Meets episodes are brilliant. I can’t recommend this highly enough!

Nice guys but the content is completely sponsor driven. Revolves entirely about the odds their sponsor offers, talk of little else.

.... there are problems and it might that I’m not the right demographic as I’m aged late 30’s.

There is no doubt the guys pay a lot of attention to stats and a lot of this is very good. However, the weekly ‘narrative’ (because it isn’t analysis) of teams performances is based on stats and a few fans opinions on Twitter is starting to get on my nerves as someone who is a Championship club season ticket holder and avid watcher of other EFL games.

I really want the podcast to improve as its promising, and for George in particular to stop using betting (not everyone gambles...!) as his go to comfort zone for justifying his opinion. It’s at times a bit convenient to do so. Stats should be there to back up their analysis for sure but not as the only indicator as to whether a team has done ‘well’ or not.

What I do like is the fact they have regularly give time to all of the EFL and their preview show is good. I am being constructive and speaking to others who have tried it and binned it, their consistent feedback is that it sounds like the presenters are winging it, which I don’t believe they are, but I can see why people might think this when the narrative is often quite lazy.

Simply the best. The best insight and knowledge of the football league you will find in a podcast. Also excellent impressions of Daniel Farke.

Have loved the podcast since the start, but the added interview pods are taking it to the next level. The questions they are asking are different to what you get from most and bring out the best in the interviewee. Refreshing, unique and insightful. Keep up the good work.

Very good insight into championship football, would prefer a little more depth of analysis on leagues one and two but this is a small gripe.

Makes a nice change from people repeating the same old cliche’s about the premiere league.

Great pod which provides focus outside of the prem. Only grump is that occasionally the focus is 60-70% on the championship but I guess that’s expected. Great listen and recommend to any long suffering football league fan! Play Up Pompey!

Get on your Premier League pods, sure. It’s one of the greatest leagues around & you’d be foolish not to. But what lies beneath, eh? What makes you a true connoisseur? Dodgy meat pies, the smell of Aldi Deep Heat substitute and dubious scouts with a suitcase stuffed full of illegal tender and broken dreams. Standing astride the dirty underbelly is the Not The Top Twenty Pod; dispensing pellets of wisdom, advice and a fetish for Walsall. Get. On. It.

Whilst you may have started following The EFL due to the mighty Os, I’m not convinced they need a mention every week. Enjoying the betting show a bit more too now.

A well-earned 5 starts. Have listened to the podcast since before the 17/18 season and it’s gone from strength to strength. Always strikes the right balance between opinion and fact and the presenters are very well informed. Essential listening for anyone wanting to keep abreast of the football league.

Been meaning to listen to this podcast for a long time. Finally started last week and immediately binged listened. Refreshing to hear knowledgeable chat about non premier league football. Thank you. You now have a new subscriber and I look forward to every new episode.

As a football fan of a traditionally lower league club, I was sick of the uninformed, lazy and ignorant punditry that we were subject to by the vast majority of media.

I gave NTT20 a listen and I was blown away by the expert analysis, forthright opinions and their use of data analysis to explain trends across the football league.

They demonstrate a balance to their analysis and give all clubs equal coverage in addition to being ahead of the curve when it comes to predicting which teams will falter and which will failure.

Sometimes I listen to a podcast multiple times to glean all I can from every edition and I could not recommend this podcast more to football fans across the country.

They make most other podcasts seem amateur in comparison.

Absolutely brilliant podcast for those interested in things beyond the top League. Hugely insightful and entertaining. Interaction with listeners is great too - love the mini scout reports

Two lads who really know their subject, from top to bottom, inside and out. No fillers, just a one-stop summary of every major talking point since the last episode. Tactics, leadership, politics, analytics, psychology - they don't dwell on any subject for too long, they get straight to the heart of any matter and cram shed-loads of thought-provoking content into 40-50 mins, every single time. If you like the EFL, then I really don't see how you can't like this podcast.

This is a great podcast and gives a good insight into the football league. Nice to hear a podcast that doesn't focus on the premier league and concentrates on the football league. The presenters are knowledgable about the football league and you can hear that they have a passion for it. Would definitely recommend.

The only place to go for all your lower league football

No better place to get weekly EFL updates, season previews and reviews and football betting tips. George and Ali aren't bad either ;)

This is a “must-listen” if you’re a fan of Championship, L1 or L2 football. The presenters have in-depth knowledge of all 72 clubs and provide superb insights on a regular basis. It’s refreshing to see this sort of coverage afforded to tiers 2-4 rather than add to what is already a bloated Premier League. Some non-league coverage would also be good :-)

Absolutely first rate football analysis, this show keeps going from strength to strength.

Their views are often original and buck the trend of some of the more established media / ex-players (Ray Wilkins!). A level of football knowledge that is incredible.

As mentioned in the title, although my team won't be in the EFL next year - I'll be listening throughout. Cheers chaps

I've been crying out for a podcast like this for years. At last people who recognise there are other leagues beyond the top flight and it's actually quite exciting!

Fantastic resource for lower league fans. Both presenters really know their stuff and seem genuinely passionate about providing coverage of EFL clubs (which is sorely lacking elsewhere). Plenty of listener interaction and some great interviews.
