A forensic review of the unsolved murders of two young women who were killed in 1987 turns up new evidence. Genetic genealogy tests lead to one man who left DNA at both crime scenes. During a search of the suspect's home, investigators learn that he not only evaded justice for the murders for over three decades, but the killer had continued to offend in the most horrific manner…

Brilliant but voice is slowed down!

I listen on increased speed (x1.25) and it’s perfect.

A shame

Feel awful for criticising this very well researched podcast but it’s so challenging to make it through an episode with the narrator’s voice, I mean WOW. I appreciate his professionalism but the sound of the voice literally makes me sleepy to the point I drift off and end up missing huge chunks of the episode and have to rewind it. It’s a shame, as like I said it’s a well researched, professional show

Worst narrator, ever

Really terrible monotone delivery ruins what is clearly a well researched podcast. Why has a person least equipped to narrate been given this job?! It really is surprising so many tune in regularly. For me, it is impossible to make it through an episode.

I can’t deal with the narrated voice

I really wanted to like this however his voice is beyond dull it makes it hard to listen to. Interesting podcast if someone else with better inflection was doing it.

This chap needs to learn when and when not to use the word “quote” he needs to look up punctuation and use the word unquote also. Notice how he pauses after the word quote…totally spoils the narrative for me.

They Walk Among Us, the best True Crime Podcast. It’s absolutely brilliant. Don’t change a thing I’ve listened to a few T.C. Podcasts & it’s the best.
May be a little slow however, it’s brilliant!

One of my favourite time crime podcasts, been listening for years, hoping many many more years of listening to come. Factual and informative which is what you need from crime podcasts.

I am a true crime enthusiast, however, I am very particular with what I like and what I don’t like. First of all I must commend you on the content of these podcasts as they are fantastic, it is evident that they are well researched keeping me hooked from start to finish. I love the first few seasons, benjamins voice is so gentle and easy to listen to, he never gives his opinions which allows the listener form their own opinion.
The latter podcast, I hate to say and I really hope you read the reviews and take them on board, are very aggressive and difficult to listen to. This pains me to say as the content is top quality but I can’t listen to them as the harsh voice puts me off. There was nothing wrong with the voice used in the earlier seasons.

Dull and boring

I love the podcast. Despite others opinions, I find Benjamin’s voice makes it easier to listen to some quite disturbing facts. He has a very calming tone and even pace that gives you time to take everything in. It’s oddly relaxing to me, despite the subject matters.

Another interesting and captivating True Crime podcast. However I have to listen at 1.25 speed as the speech is just too sloooow at normal speed. I prefer the episodes about older cases and tend to skip the newer better known ones.

I like the show but I do not understand why Benjamin has to talk SO slowly. Have to listen on 1.25x the speed but then need to slow down to normal speed to listen to clips or inserts of other people talking. Please. Just. Speak. Normally.

Lasted about 30 seconds and had to turn off due to the terrible narration ! Is that even a human speaking ?
When will podcasters realise that it’s best to just talk normally ? How about stop trying to be dramatic or mysterious or sinister or whatever . Just deliver the podcast .

The voice?!

Does anyone really tolerate the weird, slow, robotic narration of this?! Two minutes in, I was rushing to hit “stop” as in “for the love of God, make it stop!!”. I’m pretty easygoing about vocal delivery but this is so bad I almost think it’s a joke. However meticulously this podcast may be researched, it’s all wasted if you can’t make it listenable.

I’ve been listening to this podcast since 2016 and it’s literally my religion now checking every midweek for the new update or for a bonus episode, it’s the only podcast i can listen to, if there’s no new episodes and I’m commuting to work or in work I’ll scroll back a couple seasons and re listen! Please don’t ever stop this podcast!! Thank you

I’ve listened to this podcast for a couple of years now. It is well researched and written, and delivered in a way that is respectful of the subject and the seriousness of the content. I highly recommend this podcast and only wish there were more episodes! Thank you Benjamin and Rosanna for the time and care you quite obviously put into producing this show.

I’ve been listening to this podcast for months now. It’s very detailed and informative! There is a lot of effort put into the research for the cases; and it’s definitely helped with some case studies towards my law qualifications!

I’ve listened to TWAU for a few years now, which I discovered via the Murdertown podcast. Always a good listen told with a very journalistic viewpoint.
Don’t listen to the people moaning about the cost. It only costs to get early access to episodes. Bonus episodes appear for free, although maybe much later and the weekly episodes are available 3 days early for subscribers. But I know episodes are available every Wednesday so that’s when I expect to listen to them. You don’t miss out by not subscribing.

I will never pay for a podcast used to share this podcast everyday, probably helped in giving the host the idea it is worth money, will never share again, start paying for one and they will all think they can get pay , lol for a couple of podcasts, I’m going back to audio books , top quality that’s worth money, I can’t pay for background noise to put on in the background, I’m putting the radio back on again more now , it’s free background noise that I require!!

What on earth is with the awful narration? It never used to be so ludicrously slow — this has got worse in later series. Even sped up it sounds bizarrely slow and the intonation is completely weird, with the words incorrectly stressed. Gone is the serious, paced delivery, it’s now as if it’s a speech computer programme instead of human: Unlistenable. Or should that be unlistenAAAAHble.

Seeing some comments about the narration but I think some just don’t understand it - the narration is a little ‘detached’ but it’s delivered factually without putting emotional or opinionated load onto the details. However it also stays away from sensationalism. Listen if you want to hear and understand the details, the impact and the consequences of true crime on peoples lives

I quite like this podcast. Interesting to have solely U.K. cases. I haven’t listened for a while though and have just started season 7. It feels as if the narrator’s voice has got even stranger. I never had an issue with his slow and deadpan delivery, but he now sounds super robotic. The phrasing seems weird, with emphasis on the wrong words or syllables and I find it very distracting. I know YouTube and TikTok has led to this robot voice being a kind of trend but it’s almost too much for me in this context.

Well put together

Listened to Series 2 / Ep 1. While it was an interesting case, I found the narrator really hard to listen to. It’s not that you want a sensational or upbeat style for such a sensitive subject but the phrasing is just off.
Recently came back to the podcast to give it another try. But I still can’t get on with narrator’s style of delivery.
It’s in its seventh series so obviously there’s an audience for it, just not me.

Unlike some of the other people here I really, really enjoy the narrater’s voice.
I listen to this podcast whilst I am at work or when I cannot sleep. Unfortunately his voice is so soothing that there have been evenings where I fall asleep and 14 episodes later I have to rewind (I am not sure on the 14 episodes but I have fallen asleep whilst the podcast kept playing!)
Very interesting cases, I love how it’s been told. I love how the narrater states facts and does not state his opinion to leave this up to the listener.
Great work 👍🏻
