With Trump's time in the Oval Office throwing up story after story, the Spectator's Americano podcast delivers in-depth discussions with the best American pundits. Presented by Freddy Gray.
Pretty much anti trump from start to end. Trumps dumb stupid etc etc.

Now featuring interviews with racists and fascists
This podcast is pretty inept at the best of times, but the last straw for me was the extraordinarily weak and unchallenging interview with an actual fascist.

Good job
Good job that you gave Nicholas J Fuentes a fair interview, I’m not a supporter of his but really enjoyed the interview. For me that shows that you are genuine journalists. There are too many charlatans and ideologues masquerading as journalists today. Fantastic work Freddy Gray!

Variable...
Good with Freddie Gray, but when he hands over the reigns for the Washington Shots podcast it becomes painfully pedestrian. Especially when compared to Coffee Shots.

Special relationship
How many times can you say “special relationship’ on a podcast!
Great insights the how the other America thinks.
Keep up the great work

Always interesting perspectives
This podcast often has very interesting and engaging guests. The only exception is Jacob Heilbrunn, who although has a nice voice, is so blinded by his disdain for Donald Trump that almost all his predictions are wrong.

Seems to have changed tack
Having listened to and enjoyed nearly all past Americano podcasts, I found the latest was way too pro Trump in its tone. I’ll continue to listen, but not if this is how it’s going to be in future

One sided and ignorant.
This pod is very pro Trump. It labels those who dislike him in Britain as ‘impotent left wing intellectuals’ and snobs. It seems surprised Brits protest a state visit due to his comments on Muslims, not to mention his politics. Analysis is often thin and misses the key facts in order to keep up its one sided approach.

Cannot listen anymore
What a joke this podcast has become. Previously this podcast was listenable, but now, not so much. Just right wing Trump loving drivel. The guest calls Corbyn a terrorist and Freddie admiringly defends Trump, calling out the British political class for daring to be critical of Trump. And to top it off, he suggests the reason is his hair, with no sense of Irony. For someone who covers Trump i thought you might provide a more nuanced, and perhaps balanced argument. Unfortunately i was mistaken. Before I unsubscribe i will comply with your request to rate and review. Bye.

A mixed bag
This podcast isn’t devoid of thoughtful analysis, though it is a bit of a lucky dip each episode regarding whether or not you’ll get any. In one episode, the presenter sits back and allows the guest to explain in detail why Bernie Sanders is brilliant and why Joe Biden is terrible. In another, the presenter enthusiastically contributes to what can only be described as a pro-Trump echo chamber. In both cases, the occasional counter argument wouldn’t have gone amiss.

Gruesome Trump polishing
Freddy gives the impression that he’s running an add campaign for Brand Trump. Terrible stuff when compared to the rest of the Spectator’s podcast output.

Can’t believe what I just heard
The presenters claimed in the latest episode that the British political class don’t like Trump because of snobbery - his hair, his tie being out of place. How about, y’know, the lies, the crimes, the fact that he’s a blindingly obvious moron who has absolutely no idea what he’s doing? No no. Must be the tie.

Jolly interesting
A good take on what’s happening

Perspective
I have a former colleague who emigrated to America. His political viewpoint changed within a couple of years to a more Republican view from a Liberal one. Having a perspective from the other guy's viewpoint is helpful. it's the right speed and pitched at the level to question the decisions against the background.

Revisit in 3 months
Freddie Gray is now defending Trump beyond reason and rationality (even his guests disagree!). Sometimes the podcast has a nuanced viewpoint but recently it’s got a bit.... odd.

Why is the Spectator doing this?
I want to enjoy this podcast, but like other reviewers say, the unquestioning journalism here does the Spectator no favours.
The recent Ann Coulter interview was more or less a party political; I would have expected some challenges: ‘but the Republicans also did...’, no challenges to her view of the world.
The articles in the Spectator US offer a balanced view of what is going on: this podcast is an insight only into one side with no critical viewpoints available.
Shame really.

Make it longer please.
I look forward to this podcast every week, but I’m usually left feeling a little hard done by. It’s not that the content isn’t good. It is. Everything from the Speccie is.
I just think that there’s soooo much going on in the US and you could easily fill an hour. You could probably fill an hour a day.
I give 5* because the little I get is worth it. Go 5***.

Bannon Rant
This podcast was virtually unlistenable and I terminated it.Gray was unable to manage the interview and allowed Bannon to ramble on.The podcast either needs a more robust presenter and a complete re-think.

Lack of critical analysis
I've been listening to the podcast for a while and have broadly been able to accept the strong bias of an alternative persuasion to mine as "educationally insightful".
However the recent release following the Singapore summit was truly dreadful with a complete lack of critical analysis of the guest's statements - most of which have already been trashed by the MSM.
Unsubscription followed shortly thereafter.

This is not a Spectator Podcast
I've dipped in and out of this podcast several times since November 2016. It is unlistenable and is now going to the unsubscribe pile. The recent interview with Jacob Heibrunn is a good example of a profoundly biased podcast with Freddy Gray unwilling, but also entirely unable to counter the so-called progressive view of Trump's presidency.
Listening to this, provides an insight into the reasons many in the U.S. felt it necessary to vote for anyone, but an establishment politician. Heilbrunn's examination of the Trump/North Korea interaction had to be rewound and listened to again, to fully believe the way certain instances of Trump Derangement Syndrome manifest themselves in a deliberately contrived and irrational view.
I have my doubts that Freddy is up to this task, as it seems that his overview of the American political scene is drawn from either the BBC and CNN.

Pod fan
My least favourite Spectator podcast. Would fit in more at the Guardian or NYT

Polemical and Prejudiced
I wanted to like this podcast because of the subject matter but the analysis lacks any sense of political objectivity. Reasoned argument, not partisan point scoring, would make this a more reliable source.

Bias
I’m sorry to write this. I normally enjoy this Pod. The journalism is witty and good albeit partial, but it is the Spectator (so that’s OK); but the recent Iran discussion really was unlistenable. There was clearly a bias in basic air time allotted to the pro- Trump and anti-Trump speakers, as well as a clear mismatch between the generalist anti-Trumper and the Trumpist. Mr Trumper was articulate and self-confident, but any half knowledgeable expert could have easily punctured his post-NeoCon smugness. Can do much better Mr Gray. You usually do!
