Amazing podcast BUT ...

Absolutely love the podcast - so funny and really informative (especially for a Brit interested in US politics like myself)
BUT
Only 4 stars because of the lack of women on the show and would like a few more dissenting voices now and then (maybe debate a few Republicans?)

So disappointed ..

..to tune in and discover that it’s not that Jon Favreau. From Swingers. It’s some skid mark students calling Trump naughty names and dreaming of the faded glory of the Obama administration.

Please do not call Trump a clown. I am a professional clown and find it offensive. Clowns and Buffons throw the mirror up at society and they are fun and funny. Trump is dangerous let’s keep it at that.
Thanks

Great to hear knowledgeable opinions of current affairs. Obviously these guys sit on one side of the fence but then, it’s the same side as millions of others. I would be more willing to listen to both sides of the arguments, if the other side had any genuine honest points to make. The only thing I would appreciate is more female contributors and higher profile interviews.

Six stars.

If you’re still not sure how America ended up with an orange walnut rolled in cat hair as president, then listen to this podcast.
These guys are obviously extremely intelligent but their levels of smugness are off the scale. I think if I had to listen to this kind of condescension and arrogance from Democrats for 8 years I’d vote for Trump.

Absolutely awesome podcast offering intelligent, hopeful and measured opinions about policy, practice and current affairs. Crooked media are leading the way in a time where media really needs shaking up. Pro-democrats but not shy about examining the flaws or previous mistakes of their party. And in a trumped up world, the humour and passion of Jon, Jon Dan and Tommy brings sanity and helps you find humour in otherwise bleak seeming times.
Keep up the good work fellas...

I’m an avid supporter of all of crooked media’s podcasts, these guys and girls are incredible, so insightful, interesting, fun and on the pulse of what’s going on in US politics. I can’t wait for each episode, thank you!

Listen for an insight into how warped American political commentary has become

 –
EvieShawty

An attempt at analysing the corruption rife in American politics becomes an illustration of how this corruption has become a rot in US political commentary. The commentators lambast the Republicans Party (rightly so) however refuse to acknowledge and condemn similar or the same behaviour in Democrats and Democratic responsibility for the state of American politics today. They condemn Republicans for the very same behaviour they encourage in a Democratic context (see: encouraging people to vote for Democratic candidates despite disagreeing with those candidates voting history - but Democrats need to get back the majority). It's a self-righteous echo chamber of back patting and refusing to acknowledge their own side's shortcomings - and outright failures. Classic American politics.

I like this show enough to listen semi-regularly but it is not going to save America. Their campaigns are worthy (who can argue with "votes save America"?) but most of the admittedly entertaining 'hot takes' in each episode tend to sit on the pitch of partisan bloodsports. If you don't like current senate and congress Republicans you're unlikely to hear anything here to surprise you. They're all Democrats of a relatively conservative sort and I don't have a strong sense that they understand what underlies more progressively Left movements in the US at the moment. They didn't give Ocasio-Cortez much attention before she won and I think they'll always miss big developments like that because they're former Obama staffers, and pretty uncritical ones at that. I doubt they'd call themselves neoliberal but they accept too much of the status quo.
A recent really awkward example of this was Jon Lovett (on his sister show, Lovett or Leave It) being unable to concede a black activist's point that to some POCs the Republics and the Democrats look pretty similar -- mostly moneyed white guys who haven't done a lot for POCs in America (surely an uncontroversial point on a "Left-leaning" show). For Lovett it was more important to keep insisting that a way out of the Trump mess lay in voting for the Democrats in the mid-terms. The fact the activist was there making her point does credit to Crooked Media's generally varied guest list but Lovett's response was really clueless. He is blinkered by party politics -- they all are.

I always try to resist over-self-confidence and never want to be too certain of my opinions, but if this is the left’s answer to Fox News, then there is no comparison between left and right. Listening from Glasgow, Scotland, watching America with utter dread - the podcast is not only keeping me sane but even, dare I say it, injecting me with some optimism! Praying for a successful mid-terms, let’s see it Beto!!

Could be a great show with insight from staff from a previous administration viewpoint. But the intelligent arguments are lost or diluted by the unnecessary swearing (huge turn off in broadcasting), over the tops name calling and smugness - it comes across as a democratic version of Fox News. Clearly the presenters are intelligent & experienced - so let’s hear the intelligent policy arguments rather then drumbeat an ultra left extremist channel. As I said this could a great show. The current administration & congress are setting a pretty low bar. It’s not a high margin to be on the right side of history.

Steve I have been listening an I find your journey very engaging. Your thoughts and reflections hit inspire some of my own. I wonder though if you are falsely associating your relationship status or lack thereof to your position as entrepreneur. You might want to explore whether it is a symptom of something else. As a young man in many ways speaking for what the potential for millennials men can be and could achieve I would like to understand in you why you are happiest alone when objectively you think you want to be in a relationship. You know no steps will get you no where... great pod anyways! Best

Fantastic podcast, but can’t help but feel it’s getting a little detached from what made it so good - three or four knowledgeable people chatting politics informally. Regular editions are increasingly few and far between, replaced instead by live shows with screaming, loud audiences. Make the Pod Great Again, less of the live shows.

I don’t live in the USA and I’m not American (I’m British) but this podcast is brilliant. The guys are smart, funny and super well informed (as you would expect from former Obama staffers)...basically they’ve been there and done that. However you never feel patronised or talked down to. The content is up to the minute (on occasion literally), informative and always with plenty of laughs along the way...good ones! It’s not a comedy podcast though, it will keep you up to date with what’s going on in Washington and elsewhere and shows those who want to see what right thinking people need to do to turn the Trump disaster around. Probably won’t appeal so much to those of a Republican turn of mind!

Love it!
