I bloody love this podcast! Not writing a long review because I have been bingeing and I HAVE to go to bed now or I won’t get up for work tomorrow. Just so hard to stop!

Fascinating cases. I love hearing about true crime where the cases have been solved so there isn’t that frustration at the end of not knowing for sure what happened.

The detectives are amazing and it’s so interesting hearing how they work to catch their suspects.

Love love love the format, really dreading catching up!

So I’m largely a fan but on the other hand slightly concerned. There is an early episode that tracks the deeply saddening case of a man that kills his wife and then has a stand off with the police. He’s addicted to opioids and has clearly been in mind bending pain for years and hasn’t received any form of help. This won’t always result in somebody going to these lengths of course but where there is mental health issues it’s not really surprising that there will be some serious and distressing fall out. The episode does not in anyway pay any attention to the root cause of this tragedy and how such cases come about and can be stopped. It focuses on the events before and during, the crime aspect. This is what the show is about so I’m 100% ok with that however these are human beings! It’s a little gratuitous to tell the story without giving the listeners the chance to see how these crimes come to pass, to understand the laws in the States that 1. Allow people to own a gun and 2. Allow people to become addicted to opioids.

For the record I like this show, the straight up bad man did bad thing because he’s just a bad man are really really good but sometimes you’ll hear a case that could have been prevented had there been an intervention from either government or family. It’s short sighted to tell people some of the story and in a way that paints people at the end of their mental rope as just animalistic and crazy. I think it’d serve the show really well to do an episode on the cause the actual root cause of some of these crimes. Some people get sick and are simply left to their own devises.

This is a great podcast. Some of the things you hear might make you gasp but the tone is always kept light enough (without downplaying the seriousness of the issue like some podcasts... MFM!)

I love the true crime genre & small town dicks stands out from the crowd due to the cases being from the detectives point of view.

The first hand account really adds to the impact of these interesting stories.

Really good content.

I love the whole concept of the show it flows so well.

Both hosts clearly have a passion for victims of Crime & tell their stories with compassion.

With the added bonus of identical twins Dan & Dave,both of which are veteran detectives that have possibly lived through our worst nightmares.

This podcast truly is a must listen to for those interested in true crime

Such a well produced, interesting podcast. Really good true crime cases with the niche being the real detectives are in the studio telling the story! It just gets better as the series continues. Really pleased to have found Small Town Dicks after binging my other fave true crime shows.

Small Town Dicks is a well-put together, fascinating podcast which never fails to entertain. Yeardly and Zibby obviously love what they do, they research well and broadcast with confidence. Detective’s Dan and Dave offer factual authenticity with clear explanations on things the listener may struggle to understand. They also - with their calm manner and gentle humour - manage to make us all feel a little safer. I look forward to every new podcast.
