Every week in the Writer's Routine, we'll have a look at the daily diary of a creative person to find out how they organise their time to use for maximum innovation and imagination.
Some are frantic night-owls, others roll out of bed into their desks, and a few lock themselves away for days in the woods - but none have a regular 9 to 5, and we'll try to find out how they've managed it.
Fantastic podcast enjoy learning more about specific genre styles and listening to new writers, opening me up to new books. Highly recommend if your keen to learn new tips. Fantastic one of my favourite podcasts.

Now writing daily!
I have been a procrastinating writer for years, always putting it off and convincing myself that I’ll be rubbish. The Ian Rankin episode changed all that! His style of just going for it with the first draft inspired me to try and write something without getting hung up about if it’s any good. I feel liberated! Thank you Writers Routine!

Wonderful that somebody has thought of this.
Have been trying not to go through back catalogue too fast! Amazing who Dan persuades to tell how they do it eg Frank Cottrell Boyce and Ian Rankin. Always helpful.

Worth a listen
I’m not a writer but stumbled across this thanks to my daughter. Dan is a curious and thoughtful interviewer who elicits great stories and insights from his guests as well as hints & tips about their approach and routines. Whether you are struggling to produce your own opus or just looking for a gentle listen to make your commute a little less painful, Writer’s Routine is a joy

I don’t even want to be an author, but there’s inspiration and advice that can be applied to all kinds of creative endeavours in each episode.

Thank you!
As an aspiring writer desperately curious about the writing routines of successful authors I want to thank you for you amazing podcasts and the insights into what professional writing life is really about. I have just finished listening to the episode with Cecilia Aherne and it has quite literally changed the way I write! I now have the confidence to write the way I love; with a pen and paper, instead of forcing myself to tap away at my keyboard. Again, thanks. Can’t wait for the next episode!

Interesting insights
I’m really enjoying this podcast. The authors share such interesting insights about their process. It’s fascinating to hear the common themes and the ways in which authors are also so different. The format is slightly awkward, but it really doesn’t matter. It’s actually refreshing.

Best podcast of 2018
I stumbled across this podcast with most of 2018 already crossed off the calendar. After listening to a few new episodes I have to admit to going back to the beginning and listening to them all. The format may have been smoothed a little since the first one, but they are all of interest to anyone who enjoys books and stories, regardless of whether you dream of writing yourself. Keep up them coming.

The joy of routine
While ‘routine’ might sound tedious, what this excellent podcast is tells us about the craft of writing, how authors cope with a solo working life and much, much more. Well produced content and plenty of inspiration. Cheers!

Inspiring is an understatement
I have had an idea for a book for over 15 years. After a lot of non-starters and real life getting in the way, I found that listening to WR inspired me to get my bum in gear. A great show for all aspiring writers out there.
