While a number of the episodes cover well known mysteries, Dark Histories also delivers lesser known cases. Well produced and clearly a lot of work goes into this podcast. There may be other mystery shows that enjoy a far higher profile, but this show is better than many of them.

Discovered this 2 days ago and I’m already half way through the second series...

Ben has the most relaxing voice and how he writes is awesome. He sounds like the type of guy you’d just want to have a chat about weird happenings over a drink. Halloween must be legitimately great with this lad.

If you like the weird, wonderful and sometimes disturbing this is the show for you.

Unbiased, balanced and super informative! Not cheesy (which so many podcasts on similar subjects are). So interesting!

A friend recommended that I listened to this podcast over our shared love for the supernatural and macabre...it did not disappoint. Ben’s voice is so soothing and the content so well written. It isn’t just spooky or salacious and I really like how it’s formatted with the narrative and then a discussion at the end. More episodes soon please!

I’ve just found this channel (found it on YouTube) and I’m instantly addicted.

The research, narration and presentation of each mystery is flawless.

I love Ben’s open minded commentary after the story has been narrated.

A nice mix of all subjects, and Ben the presenter is fab (his voice reminds me of Naboo from the Mighty Boosh which I love) Definitely worth a listen.

Exceptionally well researched podcast full of interesting and varied stories. As you would expect, the narrator gets better as he learns his craft, so the later episodes feel more professional than the earlier. I would suggest you give this podcast a listen if you like this genre, I don’t think it’ll disappoint.

I originally started listening as a way to help me fall asleep as Ben has such a lovely voice but I soon found myself staying awake to hear these strange tales. Now I download the episodes and listen to them whilst marching my sons pram around trying to get him to sleep.

I recently discovered this podcast , and have now rinsed the entire body of work, its really very good and has shed light on quite a few mysteries that had so far eluded me ,the author clearly takes the time to carefully research and read up on each case before compiling the episodes. And had a great fanbase who at the end of each year submit their own chilling tales ., excellent! well worth adding to the cv of the author,

This podcast has rapidly become one of my most eagerly anticipated arrivals every two weeks.

Ben manages to get into the nitty gritty of the topics with a comprehensive and well laid out research base.

These days Too many podcasts of this genre start by saying that Wikipedia is where most of the material has been sourced from not the most reputable.

Every week is a new journey into a topic that is not covered by many others leaving each episode fresh and interesting.

The first episode I clicked on was “The Clapham Wood mystery: Satanism & the Occult” I have very quickly caught up with what are always fantastic podcasts!

Ben has perfect voice for storytelling & his mixture of facts, humour & storytelling abilities have converted me to a Podcast person (Dark Histories is still my number one though)

It makes the commute to & from work so much better & if I have had a bad day or I have been rushed off my feet at work - Dark Histories always manages to cheer me up!

I am slightly obsessed with this podcast. The first episode I listened to was the one dealing with ‘Room 1046’ and that was enough to hook me in!

It’s informative, well researched, not over-dramatised but still fun, and so well presented!

The choice of subjects is fantastic, too, covering a variety of interesting incidents from the well known to the obscure.

I can’t recommend this podcast enough if you love true crime or history. Give it a listen; you won’t be disappointed!

I was first hooked to this podcast by the mysterious Lighthouse episode, the well researched stories and great narrating voice Ben has with his sombre tones. Wouldn’t work half as well if Joe Pasquale narrated it (high pitched voiced U.K. comic for listeners abroad). The discussion at the end of each show of the possibles of what could have happened is great too. All analyses with a common sense head on top. Only have 2 or 3 podcasts I listen to without fail the day of release and this is one of them. Comes recommend.

A stumbled across the brilliant Dark Histories podcast when searched for a podcast related to the Green Bicycle Mystery. Once I had listened to that episode I was hooked.

Ben’s delivery and his research is spot on. The extra chat at the end of each episode is fascinating and raises more questions for additional research of your own.

Ben comes across as a genuinely thankful person and always takes the time to thank his listeners. It’s a refreshing change from many other podcasts. Keep up the good work Ben!

Found this podcast when I started my first ever ‘proper’ job. It is fantastic, approaching mythology, folklore and all things dark and mysterious with a historians touch. Everything I love, it has got me through many a day, allowing me to escape into some of the most intriguing stories.

Just found this podcast a couple of weeks back and love it. Ben is an excellent host and the tales are all well researched and thought through. So good I’ve listened to them all!

There are some really interesting stories featured in this podcast that you just wouldn’t hear anywhere else. The host is great and he covers broad areas of very well researched history/mystery each episode. I prefer the episodes that are more grounded in reality, as opposed to ghosts etc. However this deserves 5 out of 5 and I always look forward to a new episode coming out. Keep up the great work. 👍

This is an excellent and well researched podcast dealing with crime, history and other events.

Unlike other similar podcasts , Ben the presenter doesn’t go over the same subjects that have been done to death but looks at forgotten areas such as numbers stations, London illustrated news, buster crabbe and the spider man of Denver. When he does look at more familiar areas such as the Enfield haunting he looks at them with fresh eyes.

Ben also has some excellent references that he uses for the podcast ( he references them on the website and on the end of the podcast notes) . He really surprised me with one particular reference that I haven’t seen used outside of academia. Coming from a hardcore history graduate he really knows his stuff!

Love this podcast. Has great interesting, mysterious stories told in an excellent manner, though the host of the show. The ambient sounds during the telling of these true stories really set the mood as well as the host's voice who’s voice really seems fitting perfectly for this type of material. Keep putting out the episodes and I will keep listening.

I think the delivery and format are fantastic. Each episode is well researched and written, the topics are all interesting.

You can tell a lot of work goes into the production and reaserch of this show. The sublte creepy background music really adds an extra layer. Top shelf stuff!

I really love this show. I only found it about a month or two ago and it’s already one of my very favourites. The host is great, his interest in his subject really comes through and his level of research is brilliant. I love that he does a lot of primary research and doesn’t just rely on the same old-same old recycled info. This means the show sometimes covers cases that are less familiar which is great. Thank you!

I’ve recently come across this podcast and really enjoy it - a good mix of historic murders and other interesting mysteries. Discussion at the end is a nice change from other podcasts (although I don’t always agree with the analysis:) would recommend! Keep up the good work

Always insightful and meticulously researched this is a podcast that positively exudes the pleasure of telling a story properly even when that story resides in some pretty dark history.

A podcast for others to rate themselves against....and no doubt find themselves wanting.

At last, a mysteries/true crime podcast that doesn’t spend the first 20 minutes filling space with inane chatter. Much more in depth than many competing podcasts too.

Fantastic podcast, very detailed stories and you can tell a lot of effort and hard work goes into each episode. No long intros or 10 minute adverts, just a brief introduction and straight into the episode! Keep up the good work.

This is probably my favourite Podcast. Since finding it I have burned through the back episodes and am nearly up to date. Ben’s delivery and the amount of research that goes in must be staggering. Sad Sallly has gone but the podcast continues to get better. Recommend to anyone who likes unexplained mysteries or... just anyone. Thank you, Ben. Great work.

Good storys well presented and interesting down to earth discusion afterwards.

Subjects I’d not come across before as well as a pair of presenters who play off well against each other in the conclusion.

The second season has improved on the first, increasing in length and the depth of the research - introduction of a co-host to balance out the views at the end.

A great podcast, definitely worth subscribing to.
