Description

15 years ago, HBO released a show that nobody was talking about.
But then, slowly, everyone started to realise that The Wire might just be the greatest show of all time.
We're Dave and Kobi and we're going back to the Baltimore pits to rewatch EVERY EPISODE in our podcast – The Wire: Stripped.
We’ll breakdown the lingo - like re-ups, burners and wiretaps. We’ll analyse key scenes too.
We talk to key cast members, including Frankie Faison, better known as Deputy Commissioner Burrell, Lance Reddick who played Lieutenant Daniels, And of course, the one, the only… the Bunk. Wendell Pierce. Also listen out for celebrity guests and superfans.
So if you're watching for the first time or the ninth time, join us as we revisit one of the greatest shows ever made.

A decent walk down memory lane.

I am really enjoying emersing myself in The Wire and looking back at it in a deeper way. I haven't been this productive while working in a long time! Sat here hoping that the podcast continues for all five seasons.

Good Contributors!

Great interviews with cast and crew but not enough insight or analysis; just episode recaps

Brilliant

I’ve listened to other shows like his which go through a series but this is by far the best I’ve heard. It might be because The Wire is my favourite show. I think it probably has more to do with the grey chemistry of the presenters, intelligent discussion and fantastic guests which are included with mainly good quality audio which can be hard to do. Top class, I look forward to Thursdays!

Great to revisit a great show

Love listening and remembering along with the very knowledgeable hosts.
I used to watch the series on my own as the rest of the family disapproved of the language! Btw I’m a mum of teenaged sons!

A fantastic reminder of why The Wire is the best thing ever

Witty, well informed and erudite, this is a fantastic reminder of why The Wire is the best thing ever. And who at the time saw so much humour in The Wire? Thank you, Kobi and Dave. Brilliant work.

Judging by the other reviews, I guess I’m missing something here because without the recorded insights from cast and crew, it’s just two guys I’ve never heard of talking about The Wire and missing plot points and mispronouncing names of cast, crew and characters.

Brilliant listen

I'm absolutely loving this podcast. Essential listening for all fans of The Wire. It's great to have a British perspective and the hosts are warm, funny and friendly but it has some wonderful guests from Baltimore and from the show itself which I think is a perfect blend. Great input from listeners as well, it's like sharing your favourite programme with friends. Highly recommended.

Not impressed

Only got about 15 mins in to this. A couple of spurious statements were like red flags to me. Firstly, the idea that The Sopranos is episodic tv is patently untrue and suggests the presenter doesn't know what he's talking about. Or that he's in the business of setting up 'straw men' to bolster his claims. The Wire has so many original things about it, there's no need to make fatuous claims.
Secondly, given that these are supposedly Wire superfans it was surprising to hear that one of the presenters has only watched the show once before (a binge watch 10 years ago).
This is a great idea for a podcast. But it's not a great podcast. At all.

Jesus Christ you nit, don't you see what he's done?. He's legalized drugs!

In a sea of slickly produced talking heads examining the camera angles of cgi dragons and discussing whether batman really loves superman its great that these guys, who are real fans, have produced a raggidity assed fitting tribute to the greatest tv show ever! Made with real love, not so they can advertise a razor...

All the pieces matter

This Podcast is so good that it makes me want to start watching ‘The Wire’ again alongside it despite the fact that I finished my 3rd watch of the series all the way through just recently! Intelligent breakdown of each episode with fantastic cast interviews peppered throughout, like a mix of podcast and radio 4 documentary.

Wonderful!

The first episode of The Wire: Stripped was fantastic! I can’t wait to hear more.
It’s an episode-by-episode discussion of the HBO show The Wire by two very likeable hosts (Kobi and Dave), featuring interviews with cast members, breakdowns of key scenes, and feedback from fans.
The podcast is really well produced and I loved the inclusion of the interview segments, whether those about life on set or those from others who share their favourite moments.
It is evident that Kobi and Dave have a great deal of affection and admiration for the show, and their enthusiasm has encouraged me to go back and watch the show again - something I had been meaning to do for some time.
If you love The Wire, you will love this podcast!
