First of all, great podcast, thanks for all your hard work.
Having finished listening to Windy on the latest FC I just wanted to say how disgusting some of the behaviour of some people towards him on Twitter. As a long-time listener of The Extra Inch I find myself more often than not disagreeing with Windy’s takes but the fact that some people can be such nasty pieces of work makes me sick. Easier said than done but ignore the haters and keep being true to yourself.
That said, Windy I can’t wait to see you at the Lane... so I can buy you a pint!

Decent crew lads - varied responses from all involved. Some responses extremely positive for some bizarre reason but mostly thought out debates which drive the pod.

You wanted reviews to include the match that meant a lot to me so here goes. It didn’t end in glory(quite the opposite) but it did make me realise how much Spurs meant to me and may explain why after 34 years, they remain a big part of my life. The game was the League Cup semi-final replay against Woolwich in 1987. Obviously at the time I didn't know that the season, despite its highs, would ultimately end in failure (3rd place wasn't considered success back in those days!) . At the time we knew we were still up for 3 trophies and we just needed a victory against them to enjoy another Wembley day out. I struggle to remember the details, although I seem to remember there was some tougue-in-cheek talk about how we had won the first leg at their place and lost the second leg at WHL, and perhaps we should have asked for the replay to be played away despite winning the toss! I remember feeling extremely tense for the whole 90 mins despite taking the lead. They equalised near the end and as we were getting prepared for extra time and penalties they scored the winner in the 90th minute and there was no time for any response. I stood on the Paxton Road (pre - all seater stadium) and cried. And that's when I knew I cared. So in spite of what has happened since then, the monotonous mid table finishes during the 90s/00s, the 8 Cup SF losses, the amazing Champions league run, ending in despair in Madrid and the numerous other things that have all Spurs fans saying 'this could only happen at Spurs' I just 'care' about it too much to walk away. And when I think about it, I always come back to that game on 4 March 1987 as the the game when I realised I was 'Spurs'.

Most Meaningful Spurs Game

A bit long but stick with me... I SHOULD say my first match at the Lane, the '91 Sixth Round vs Notts County. Having truly, deeply fallen in love with football at Italia '90 the previous year with two of the world's best, Lineker and Gascoigne being Spurs players (I did a 20 minute presentation in Year 6 on David Platt converting Gazza's free kick in the last minute of extra time vs Belgium with the blackboard as a tactics board), seeing my hero, Gazza scoring the winner on my first visit SHOULD get the pick. However, I think it has to go the Final that year even though I only watched at home on the telly. I remember the day so vividly. The Quarter-Final, my 11 year old self honestly only remembers the customary 7 hour walk from the nearest car parking spot to the ground. But the Final... Me and my friends started the day walking down town for some pick-a-mix but got picked up by my friend's step-dad in a 56-seater coach. He then preceeded to stop off in a lay-by and test the brakes by repeatedly speeding up and slamming down on them hard as we sat on the back row in full Spurs kits getting thrown head-first into the seats in front of us. Good times. As for the game, seeing my hero stretchered from the field was only tempered later on by singing a new hero's name - Des Walker! Thirty years hence, I have had only 2 further cup wins to experience and milk cups at that. Put in those terms, it's mystifying, almost incomprehensible but of course, I always have hope. Fantastic pod, guys. All the others have fallen by the wayside in my world. Cheers, Kus.

10,000 rats

Thanks to Cole for derailing my workday. Some solid logic from the three of you, I worked out that taking the Hunter and rats, each of your assailants would be swarmed by ~227 rats while the Hunter picks them off. However, there are two flaws in this plan that I can see. Firstly, can rats nibble through a crocodile’s tough exterior before they drown? Secondly, the hawks would be difficult for the Hunter to shoot and the rats wouldn’t stand a chance while the hawks are airborne. In my head I’m imagining to be like Van Pelt from Jumanji so I’m going to say the crocodiles (average saltwater croc is 1000kg) plus the hawks for distraction.

Wimbledon FC 2 - Tottenham 6

In 1998 I was just 9 years old and going to one of my first Spurs games. It was the return of Jurgen Klinsman and the Spurs faithful were playing at Selhust park the then shared ground for Wimbledon FC. Spurs attacking line up consisted of David Ginola, Jurgen Klinsman, Ruel Fox and big Les Ferdinand.
Wimbledon went 2-1 up before a mighty spurs comeback. Klinsman took the spoils that day with 4 goals - which meant we got to see his dive celebration multiple times. The game ended in an ecstatic 6-2 away win. I even got a spurs scarf on the way home. Sensational

Bit of a left field one in all honesty- but it was probably the draw against Manchester United at home in the snow during the 2012-13 season. It was during my first full season supporting Spurs and I remember listening to it on Five Live sat on the landing outside my bedroom in my parents house. The euphoria of Dempsey’s last minute winner in the Narnia-like conditions definitely helped to solidify my ill-fated love affair with Tottenham Hotspur and football in general. Love the pod guys, all the best!

Where to start? The Extra Inch is hands down my favourite podcast, never mind my favourite Spurs podcast. From back in the day as a sister pod to TFC, there’s always been something special about TEI for me. This podcast, and subsequently Nathan’s Twitter account, has opened my eyes to a whole new way of watching and analysing football. It has sparked my keen interest in the tactical analysis and data analytics side of the game, and for that I must thank you guys - especially Nathan!
I used to not be able to get enough of the pod, even though they were pretty frequent. So I have loved the introduction of the Patreon which provides some of the best analysis content around with the videos you put out. As well as this, the Straight Off The Training Ground series of pods with Chris Summersell is fantastic, he is another great Twitter follow btw!
Aside from all this there is just a good dynamic between the three of you guys - especially when it’s comes to he who must not be named... José. Bardi is the optimism, fully on board the José train while Windy is pained by the departure from the philosophy and principles of our beloved Mauricio. Then Nathan finds some reasoned happy medium usually as to why we will probably be pretty good for a while under him before inevitably spontaneously combusting at some stage.
To conclude, if you’re reading this and have never listened... do it and you won’t regret it!
The easiest 5 stars I will ever give to a podcast.
Rhys

This podcast has become a key part of my routine as a Spurs fan: look forward to next fixture; endure (occasionally enjoy) match; look forward to Extra Inch dropping; hope the pod matches with my thoughts; get warm, fuzzy feeling when it does; get a new perspective if it doesn’t. Repeat.
Add in the fair-handedness and humour and it all makes for a great listen - the best Spurs podcast going.

Much like the big man, perfectly balanced.
In-depth analysis without being dry, good-humoured chemistry without getting too blokey, all topped off with the ideal attitude towards Spurs - overwhelming cynicism with a healthy undercurrent of misplaced hope.
You never answer my questions but they are always rubbish so I’ll forgive you that.
The best Spurs podcast without a doubt, standing up for Ndombele, good football and Nathan’s atrocious hair choices when no-one else will.

I’ve listened to The Extra Inch for years now and I’ve never left a review. Why? I have no idea. Insightful, funny, informative and opinionated. I’ve especially enjoyed the All or Nothing Watch along, with Windy’s Attenborough-esk tones. All in all a fantastic Spurs pod, great if you love to talk tac-tics and just enjoy good friends talking. Couldn’t recommend this enjoying. COYS!

If you're interested in actual football and love Spurs this is the best pod around. Intellectual, studious and knowledgeable hosts with a flair for simple explanations of tactics. They keep to the subject at hand and don't bother with too many "banter" dead end interludes that so many other pods attempt and fail at. Still it's a funny, entertaining, educational and most importantly original listen every time. Fantastic work. Thanks Windy, Bardi and Nathan and keep it up! X

Pandemic episode

Both the episodes with Alex discussing the pandemic were fascinating, nicely linked to how football is managing the situation and sadly quite chilling.
Alex is highly articulate and explains very clearly his thoughts based on academic study - Windy, as you would expect asks the right questions to really explore the subject in detail.
Alex’s opinion on how the government has handled the situation (with very clear links to previous government approaches to other pandemics) will be very clear from the title alone and as a layman his argument is compelling and altogether very frightening. However, as an a-level history student (20 years ago!) I have learned to question opinions and though it may be confirmation bias I get the distinct impression that Alex may be quite anti government (and Tory too) so may affect his judgement and what is becoming clear is that different scientists have developed polar opposite assessments so perhaps an extension of these pods would be for Windy to interview a different scientist who could counter some of Alex’s opinions for balance.
Once again an outstanding listen and windy does brilliantly to navigate a non football theme by incorporating football very cleanly!
