Rugby intellectuals

I like these guys a lot. I’m an England fan so don’t get as much exposure to Irish rugby as English, so it’s always very interesting to hear their views. They’re clearly long-time fans with a deep appreciation for the game, rather more knowledgeable than your average rugby podcaster. Thanks for the pod!

Brilliant!

Excellent podcast. Informative and knowledgeable hosts (their blog archive is still a must read even if it hasn’t been updated in a while) who come at things from a different angle and cover Irish rugby which much more depth compared to the usual rugby slots you hear on OTB and Second Captains. Keep it up lads! Enjoying the weekly podcasts and looking forward to your views on the rest of the Heineken Cup, AI series and 6 Nations this season!

Too infrequent

Excellent analysis and thoroughly engaging pod. Sound quality could be better but that’s a minor gripe. Biggest gripe is that it’s too infrequent.

“Well Hot Dog! We have a wiener!”

The natural progression from the excellent, if now sporadic, Digging Like A Demented Mole” blog, really fresh to hear a dedicated mainly Irish rugby-focussed podcast with a different voice to the IT/ Indo-affiliated pack of rugby journalists and ex-players and coaches.
Really like the audio from Jonah Lomu rugby (Bill McClaren) and older commentaries from when Irish rugby was in the doldrums up to its re-birth in the professional era (Fred Cogley) and the little bit of levity that exists but doesn’t go as far as the Rugby Pod’s “banter”.
Obviously plenty to talk about with the 6 Nations ongoing but think that if the gang reproduce the level of analysis with enough cultural references (basically Simpsons quotes) as they do in the written format, this should develop quite nicely
