For over forty years Jim Ross has been the Voice of Wrestling. From starting as referee in the regional territories to becoming the Executive Vice President for WWE, nobody has a story quite like Jim Ross. From recruiting and hiring some of the biggest superstars in the industry to providing the soundtrack for the most important moments in wrestling history, "Good Ole JR" was there for it all. Join us every Thursday morning as Conrad Thompson grills JR like you've never heard before, uncut and uncensored!
JR is awesome and I always enjoyed hearing what he has to say. Sadly, enjoyed is the word, and is in the past tense. It has now gotten ridiculous with the amount of ads that are splattered EVERYWHERE. It is like the terrible mobile games and website ads of the past. I appreciate that people need to be paid, but there needs to be a better balance. I can’t enjoy what is being said because the flow is interrupted.

Far too many ads
I really love to listen to the people that Conrad has on his team but the ads have gone too far. I completely understand the need for ads but the amount in each podcast now is far too extreme and really affects the flow of each show. It’s at the point now that I can’t get invested in the stories that these legends are telling because the ads convolute each episode and I end up sitting here wondering what is going on. I don’t expect this will be looked at by the powers that be but please cut back on the amount of advertising and let these characters tell their stories without it leading to promoting something, it’s what we’re here for!!

Good but too many advert
This would “geico ” be a good “go to geico” podcast and used to be “geico” but now they are constantly “geico GEICO” shilling ad free shows geico, it is impossible to listen to! GEICO GEICO BLU CHEW BLU CHEW

Angry old man
If you want to listen to a legend of professional wrestling constantly argue with the host over absolutely nothing then this is the one for you. He tells the same storeys and refers to the same anecdotes every episode. It’s basically Groundhog Day every episode no matter how hard the host tries to enthuse Jim.

I used to love it
I’m sorry but I’ve stopped listening to this podcast and a few more of Conrad's podcasts as I can’t abide AEW and that about all he seems to want to talk about. With the exception of What Happened When I’ve listened to all of his podcasts and now I listen to only 3

Brilliant listen BUT..
Way to many adverts. Frustrating
2021-07-30
Okay, but too many problems
Occasionally episodes are great and if Jim is in a good mood, it can be really good. Unfortunately that is 1 in every 10, mostly JR is very bitter about a lot of things and constantly goes off on fans, and thats without the ridiculous amount of ad reads, when you do a Q&A episode and you haven’t asked a single question 30 mins in because of all the shilling its beyond ridiculous

Grown Tired of the Ultimate Warrior Negativity
I was a die-hard wrestling fan from the mid-80s to the mid-2000s until it became (for me) an unwatchable product once the competition was gone. Over the last 10 years or so, I’ve engaged with a lot of the nostalgia from this time period - podcasts, books, merchandise, documentaries.
As for the WWE/wrestling, since the mid-2000s I’ve kept up a passing knowledge of what’s been happening.
Always been a big fan of JR, have read both his books - Slobberknocker and Under the Black Hat, both of which I enjoyed.
I have been a listener to this podcast since day one, but as a huge fan of the Ultimate Warrior character from that period, I’ve come to the point where this show is no longer listenable for me. Yes, I get it, JR does not care for him, and Conrad was a fan as a kid, but no longer is. I get it, that’s their opinion and that’s fine. Other “complicated” wrestlers get a free pass as they’re buddies. For instance, one episode covered how Hulk Hogan pretended to be seriously injured after being Tombstoned by the Undertaker at Survivor Series 91, and was telling people Taker isn’t safe to work with. All this on the night Taker became WWF Champion for the first time, after working so hard to reach the pinnacle. His family were there and it ruined his and their night according to JR. But he’s Hulk Hogan, one of the boys, he’s A-OK! It doesn’t sound like the Hogan I know etc…
For me, who listens to these shows to smile and enjoy the nostalgia from that great period of wrestling and how fun it was, for every mention of the Warrior, who for that time period is integral to so much and who as a character I have so many good childhood memories of, and whose name comes up often during these shows, to be referred to negatively EVERY SINGLE TIME he is mentioned has just ruined the enjoyment and I can no longer listen.
A few minutes into the King of the Ring 1996 episode from June 2021, there was the first mention of how watching Warrior was painful. I turned the podcast off, and won’t return to it.
As I previously alluded to, it’s JR’s podcast, and those are his opinions, that’s fine. For me, all I can do is switch it off and listen to alternatives - there is so much negativity around wrestling anyway, what with shoot interviews being their own money-spinning industry and no doubt there are swarms of people who lap up the negativity, otherwise it wouldn’t exist. But that’s not what I want to listen to. To paraphrase JR, he doesn’t want to pack negativity in his carry-on bag. I don’t want to carry it around on my podcasts app.

Good, but…
Jim Ross possesses a level of paranoia which grates before too long. Multiple times per episode he will invent a criticism of himself from an imaginary group of trolls or naysayers, and then ridicule those imaginary people for challenging him. He will often derail himself from an interesting anecdote or story for no reason. It’s a shame because it becomes distracting and frustrating in an otherwise entertaining show.

Awesome stuff.
Loving the insights, fascinating stuff. Only minor complaint would be JR moaning in the later episodes about the losers moaning about him online. Just ignore them JR and stop the “someone on Twitter is now gonna say...” stuff.

Tough listen
I love Conrad’s other podcasts, but man this is a hard listen. If you want to hear someone not answer if barely questions ,go of on a tangent about wrestling fans, have a battle with his inner self for half an hour. This podcast is for you.

Mr Garrison
I’m from the UK, love the show, but this Conrad guy sounds too much like Mr Garrison and I can’t take him seriously
2021-03-04
Fantastic
Great show never miss a episode

Great show but too many ads
Would easily be 5 stars, but the ads are getting a little silly now. Not everyone can afford Patreon. Other than that, fantastic show.

JR&Conrad
top show as per usual .. everything Conrad touches turns to gold .. immaculate story recollection from JR gives you a great insight in to the goings on of the business of professional wrestling

Brilliant, but FAR too many ads.
Love the podcast, could listen to JR talk all day and Conrad as a host is great. However, there are way too many ads, it seems like they’re every 10 minutes. Still, I think it deserves 5 stars because the two gentleman do a great job and the content is top class.

Too Many Ads
I understand (ad) that these multi millionaires (ad) need more money (ad) but there’s an unsociable (ad) amount of ads in these podcasts (ad).

Great podcast
Interesting insight and stories from JR. Lots of humour thrown in for good measure too. Have listened to tons of different episodes over the last few weeks and great content every week.

Too many adds
Far too many adds, I understand you’ve got to make some money but I swear nearly 30 minutes is taken up by plugging adds

Oh my god!!
i could listen to JR talk all day!

Beat it like a government mule!!!
What a podcast!! Love the combination of JR and Conrad and working my way through the archives. The Podcast has rekindled my love for Wrestling and now an avid AEW fan.
I could listen to JR all day and love his stories- especially from the Attitude Era.
JRs promotion of blue chew is absolutely superb!!!
Keep up the great work fellas.

The voice of wrestling, and the voice of podcasts
Loved JRs previous podcast format, and do miss the pet-goon-goofy award. Was nervous of the change when Conrad came into the fold, but the life he’s brought into the show is incredible. It’s rekindled my interest and love for wrestling.
Love the rapport between JR and Conrad and enjoy their personal banter. Their passion for wrestling and providing an entertaining and content driven couple of hours shines through. JR’s candidness with his feelings, his ambitions, and especially talking about the joy that Jan seemed to be is refreshing and makes my week.
Just received my first book in years for my birthday, I’m starting with Slobberknocker.
The top wrestling podcast, and in my opinion; in the top 3 of all podcasts.
Bravo guys. You don’t need to change a thing 💎💎💎💎💎

Too many ads
How does anyone listen to this? The adverts are constant. Absolutely ruins the show.

I could listen to JR all day the things he has seen throughout his career. Great podcast!

More miss than hit now
I love JR, always have, but have to be honest, it feels like there’s no point listening to his podcast these days unless you have a WWE Network subscription or a photographic memory of every WWE PPV of the last 30yrs. As a fan of JR on AEW it puzzles me why this podcast is still so focused on WWE. Does Conrad not realise there are tons of us who stopped watching / finding WWE a long time ago?
2020-04-05
Mixed
Conrad does a good job hosting and JR’s insights into the context and behind the scenes are obviously a USP. However, Ross frequently goes off into furious tangents, or forgets what the question he was answering was to the major detriment of the podcast. Conrad is often either unable or unwilling to steer Ross back to the question at hand. The tidbits are interesting and Ross’ decades in the industry lead to valuable insight and perspective, when he is calm and focused but this is increasingly smaller doses. The podcast frequently derails into Ross ranting about the same five or six talking points, which he incorrectly believes are unique, insightful or contrarian points, to the extent that the bad outweighs the good and it is no longer listenable.

Great podcast
As usual Conrad does an excellent job as host and Jim Ross is excellent as he gives his honest opinion on topics such as WrestleMania 2000 and Mr Kennedy.

University of JR
Listening to Grilling JR (following on after listening to every episode of The Ross Report) is like taking a degree in booking & the wrestling business at the University of JR! Cannot recommend the insights of Jim Ross and Conrad Thompson any higher than its THE must listen to podcast

Thank you
Hi JR, I don’t know if you will ever see this but I felt the urge to write. You were the voice of my childhood during the attitude era when I was growing up in the U.K.
I teach English for a living and have spent most of the last 8 years in Europe and Asia. I’m currently in Vietnam and don’t get to see my friends and family and sometimes feel very isolated.
Watching you on AEW and listening to your excellent podcast brings me a lot of joy and makes me feel like I’m back home for a few hours every week.
2020-01-22
A lot of carry on luggage
Liked Jim's old podcast and love all of Conrad's but lately jr seems so angry giving out about everything putting me off to be honest arn and eric seem much more upbeat feel jr is mad he's in AEW and not on raw with the king instead of embracing what hes got.

Turning bitter
I was always a big fan of JR (bought merch etc.) and love the Conrad network. This however, is hard listening, JR is turning into a bit of a bitter old man, stuck in his ways, angry at both society and wrestling is changing. It’s an absolute shame as his brain is a gold mine of info, but I find myself turning off half the episodes as he keeps complaining about the present.
2019-12-26
Good ol’ JR at his best.
Interesting. Informative. One of wrestling’s best storytellers gives us his take every week! Jr what a hero and there’s nothing better than a crabby JR who doesn’t hold back!

Would you like some content with your Ads?
Ive tapped out, the ads are too much and are way too long.
2019-12-07
Jr is the man
Love this podcast
2019-12-06
JR on top form!
Top pairing with JR and Conrad,JR is at his fiery raw best since the team up.Long may it continue!
2019-11-27
JR, but with the volume turned up!
The voice of wrestling paired with Conrad Thompson = Gold.
Back in “the game”, rejuvenated and refreshed JR talks us through history like only he can!
2019-11-25
God bless JR
the voice of wrestling and what a brilliant person to listen to.
2019-11-25
Good content but ads are horrendous
The content is great, Conrad and JR are both entertaining and knowledgeable. The ads however are completely out of hand, every 10-15 minutes there is an advert that lasts the best part of 5 minutes, which completely ruins the flow of the episode. Either put all the adverts together in the middle or keep them short.
2019-11-22
Bitter old man
It’s such a shame to hear how bitter Jim has become. If you can get through the constant digs at Vince & the WWF, there’s some good stories to be heard. But you’ve gotta put up with a whole lot of whining to hear them.

Taboo Tuesday 5*
Best. Episode. Ever. Please please please collar (and elbow) JR more often the day after the AEW recordings... He’s never been more salty!!! Loved peeling back the curtain and seeing the true emotions come pouring out. 6 star Meltzer rating from me!!!
2019-10-03
JR is like wine & cheese...gets better with age!
Absolutely loving the insight into wrestling’s coming and goings and in depth analysis of various events.
From the territories to the mighty WWE juggernaut, listening to JR’s memories and and a peaking behind the curtain. Just like his book “slobber knocker “ you will be hooked by this WWE HoF’er and if that wasn’t enough his co host is the one and only Conrad Thompson.
Give this pod a try, I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Most honest person who doesn't bulls@#t the past unlike many other former wrestling personalities
Absolutely love J.R's bond with Conrad Thompson which is genuinely a great combination which in other podcasts just isn't the same. Ross is honest, passionate about his time in the business & is obvious how much he loved his experiences calling some of the most memorable moments in WCW, WWF/E etc etc... He's genuine on what he thought wasn't good in storyline angles, business ideas & the way he was treated by Vince McMahon. Bruce
Prichard, Eric Bischoff and the rest are all good podcasts but hold back on certain stuff but Good old J.R never does which makes this podcast the cream of the crop

Great insightful listening
If you’re looking for an insightful and entertaining podcast on the wrestling business in recent times, then this is the podcast for you

Conrad ....have a god damn CONVERSATION
The dialog is almost robotic with conrads style of topic “discussion”. All the facts and figures and gate sellings bla bla bla its like listening to rain man. “Whats going on man HOW ARE YOU “ jesus. You need to actually go back and forth when discussing areas of the business. Its just so blunt and you can almost hear the eye rolling from JR when theres that distinct pause...and then the immediate robotic moving on....”lets talk about” or “i guess we should talk about”no reply, no reciprocation in the art of a conversation just blank. Next. Its so f-ing annoying. Dave Melcher is certainly owed his cut of any financial gain after all this flat out reading. Conrad...sort it out and learn a thing or two from podcasts with presenters that actually TALK to eachother. Sadly i just cannot listen to this conveyor belt painful pace of repetitive dialogue. JR....move on.
Wheres my comment ? I will report this

Brilliant podcast
Loving the podcast up there with 83 weeks, Something to wrestle with which Conrad Thompson is a part of, has great knowledge of the business keep up the great work 👍🏽

Superb new format
Love the new format, JR is so insightful and honest about his career, and “Conny” is the perfect host. Keep it up.

5 star splash
Love all on Conrad’s podcast but listening to good old jr the voice of my childhood is the icing on the cake all the way from London England

It’s a shame.
Sad to see how the podcast has gone. Old format was much better.

Brilliant
Love Jim Ross voice of a children hood and man hood.
This new format is incredible, somehow you’ve managed to improve an already amazing podcast
