You cats rule! My cousin Tala (who’s AWESOME) recommended your brilliantly prolific and poignant podcast and now I pass it on to everyone I know who would appreciate you as much as we do.
Thank you so much for all the work you put in, it emanates a joy that’s delightfully virulent and encourages kindness and understanding in every possible regard. No pressure but please don’t ever stop enjoying making this as much as it’s clear you both do. We love you hugely; every topic is evocative of my young presumptions about the world that are sobering to review as an increasingly inquisitive 30-something and I don’t think I’ll never get tired of questioning them!
I wish I had your insights. You sharing them really helps me to understand society here in the UK today and paints the USA vividly.
Thank you so much for everything you do.

Fascinating, hilarious, sad, and thought-provoking. Also, the reviewer who WAS enjoying this podcast (consisting of evidence-based counters to populist narratives that were fabricated to dupe a desperate and ignorant public) UNTIL Sarah made fun of Brexiteers. Amazing.

I really enjoyed this podcast - interesting & insightful. The hosts have good chemistry & I’ve learnt a lot.
Which is why I was ....SO disappointed in hearing the last 20 seconds of “A dingo got my baby” ....Sarah gives an example of stupidity, actually stating “well we’re living in a world where people vote for Brexit...”
..Really???
Quite a sweeping, not to mention insulting statement there - thrown out at the majority of the UK, for voting for their independence.
This is pretty offensive & narrow-minded.
Disappointed in my new favourite podcast :(

I’m about 2 minutes into today’s episode 23/03/20 and I am genuinely crying with appreciation. I have currently lost my income due to the crisis and wanted to express gratitude and I want to support in some way by leaving this review. Thank you.
This is a great podcast, it does what it says on the tin but also it’s a podcast that is actually well researched. Topics that I wouldn’t have expected to find interesting are made to be. A lot of research and facts but not dry. Also genuine, I don’t feel like there are any fake concerns or ‘fake wokeness’ here. This podcast gives me new perspectives on people’s lives and choices. Thank you.

I wasn’t interested in podcasts then I saw You’re Wrong about mentioned in a tweet and investigated.
I love it, there’s so much work that goes in to it in terms of the research Sarah and Michael do for each episode. I’ve learned a lot from it ... and also sometimes despaired about how much as a society we’ve failed to learn.
I’ve recommended it left right and centre! The only thing I’d not recommend is listening without headphones when there are kids around to avoid tricky conversations.

Before anything else, I have to say how much I love how Mike and Sarah interact with one another. There is mutual respect, affection and gentle teasing that is delightful to hear, even when (maybe especially when) they discuss things that can be tricky to navigate.
The subjects handled here (Columbine, the murders of Kitty Genovese and, later, Nicole Brown Simpson, for examples) are very difficult to discuss and hear about. I have seen some other reviews complain about the jokes and laughter present. To me, it makes sense. These are journalists who are talking about ugly incidents, which often leads to “gallows humour” and nervous laughter at some of the more idiotic coverage that arises from the stories (all the papers seemed to care about the murder of Nicole Simpson was what she was wearing and the fact that there were candles burning in her home). The sarcasm that Sarah employs in discussing the “importance” of these details is heavy, and extremely well warranted.
I love how these conversations go, and am grateful that they are free-flowing, yet sensible and intelligent. Very few, if any, “likes” and “ya knows,” I’m deeply relieved to say. I’ve learned so much about issues I thought I already knew pretty well, and the information is presented in an entertaining and un-annoying (I’ve decided that that’s a word) way.
My favourite recent podcast discovery.

The Columbine Episode

As a non-American, is like to offer some of my insights into the way this massacre is treated during the first few minutes of this podcast.
1. It amazes me how blasé the ‘casters are about the school shootings that had happened in the couple of years before the Columbine shootings. The ‘casters give the impression that kids going into school and shooting is no big deal (I’m paraphrasing, but it was a bit like ‘Well...you know...there’d been a few shootings in schools before Columbine but they were only small...maybe one or two kids shot by some kid who didn’t like them’). I think the way this part of the back-story was presented is a good illustration of how desensitised people in the USA are to gun violence.
2. Laughing about anything to do with a school massacre (yes, actually laughing about the killers’ poor planning) and comparing it to the never-achievable expectations associated with a wedding just strikes me as completely insensitive to the facts of what you were discussing. It felt as though you were all giddy with excitement while talking about this terrible event.
I know your target audience is probably not people like me, but I thought you might find it interesting to re-listen to the ‘cast having heard the perspective of someone from outside the US...I’m an Australian who lived in the U.K. for a long time and now live in France. In none of these three countries could I imagine an incident such as this being treated with such a light-hearted approach.
Thanks for reading. I hope I’ve given you some useful insights into how your podcast could be received outside of your target market.
Much of the world looks at the US approach to gun (un?)control with open-mouthed astonishment.

I recommend this podcast to everyone I meet. Hands down my absolute all-time go-to favourite, and every episode can be listened to several times over because there’s just so much food for thought packed into each fascinating discussion (please never stop doing new ones though!?). Michael and Sarah are the most intelligent friends you wish you had and their chemistry is unreal; both do SERIOUS homework on their episode’s topic, conveying information and - equally importantly - analysing it thoughtfully, wittily and humanely without a trace of ego or po-faced pontificating. Look - it’s just brilliant. You’ll laugh and think about it for ages after and argue about points from it with all your friends. If you listen to anything, listen to this.

Started with the obesity episode, recommended by a fat friend who was surprised to hear two thin people talk with such nuance about something that has deeply affected her life. Picked and chose a few more episodes, and have now been drawn into the entire series. Every episode is as thoughtful and sensitive as the first I heard, and though I don’t listen to many other podcasts I definitely hope to stick with this one.
The chemistry between the hosts is so good that I’m almost disappointed when they have special guests! I feel like they’re my super interesting friends who teach me all about the weird world we live in.

This was recommended to me so I gave it a good try but very hard going.
The main host is competent and presents her thoughts and the narrative well but is oddly joined by an uber enthusiastic hype man who seems to never know anything about what they’re discussing but is utterly amazed by everything. Odd.
Perhaps it was just the episodes I chose but the tl;dr of all of them seemed to be that the women in them weren’t responsible for any of their own choices or actions.

This very quickly rose to become my favourite podcast. It's intelligent, compassionate, detailed, and thoroughly-researched; but some of its key appeal lies in its hosts, and their chemistry with each other. They're not afraid of nuance; and they're either very good at picking interesting topics, or at making everything interesting!
There were some I didn't think I wanted to listen to, but some of those have ended up being my favourites. I've listened to the back catalogue twice now. More episodes, please!

I’ve just spent three days listening to the back catalogue (50+ one-hour-ish episodes) of this podcast like it was my JOB. New favourite podcast? I THINK SO.
You’re Wrong About... is informative, funny, smart, and compassionate, as are its hosts. Some of the episodes I enjoyed the most were ones I didn’t think I’d connect with, or ones where I already knew the debunked version, so I honestly think there’s something here for everyone. Highly recommended!

Hands down favourite podcast.

I’ve listened to this podcast from the start, and have enjoyed every episode, however varied the topic. The presenters are knowledgeable, respectful of different narratives, and always go a layer deeper than you expect. Their interactions are charming and natural. It feels like listening to two clever, funny friends sharing a cup of tea and talking.

This has become my favourite podcast - I listen to podcasts fairly frequently and I was finding many of the American ones either too condescending and smug (albeit informative) or too vapid and light.
You're Wrong About... feels like listening to my peers, like listening to people like me. But unlike me, Sarah and Michael really take the time to commit to in-depth research on a broad range of topics. They aren't trying to shock you or impress you, they aren't trying to make you laugh. But THEY DO.
Unlike other podcasts, You're Wrong About... doesn't shy away from criticising capitalism, corrupt institutions or abusive men. There are so many journalists who seemingly find their trail of inquiry has run cold before they get to the obvious conclusion: Capitalism is THE problem. Patriarchy is THE problem. Sarah and Mike don't mince their words, they don't shrug and say 'oh dear' - they bring clarity to historic events and topics that were shrouded in misinformation. This should be the goal of every journalist and storyteller. For me, in these distressing times, this podcast is almost utopian in its fearlessness and clear-headedness.
Very grateful to have found it by chance, at a time when I really needed it.
p.s. great voices.

As I'm not American I haven't heard of much of these topics so it's more You Didn't Know About for me but it's no less fascinating. I'm always absolutely captivated by this podcast. Brilliant stuff!

I love this podcast. Being British, I was only vaguely aware of some of the topics/people discussed and really have been given more of an insight and, in some cases, inspired t to read up on the subject. I love how the presenters speak up for women who have been silenced by shame, death or ostracism. Just the right balance of seriousness and brevity for someone new to some of the cases discussed. More please!

Enlightening stuff with extremely engaging, charming, well-informed and thoughtful hosts. As a Gen-X English man I lived through a lot of the things discussed but paid little attention to most as they were American things and I was young, this is extremely informative about lazy assumptions that I had. I first listened to the Halloween episode and was struck by a couple of things, with no intent at offense, firstly by how 'millennial' both the voices and the opinions were but secondly how well they mapped onto classical film theory (I cannot recall whether precisely the book 'Men, Women and Chainshaws' was referenced but the overlap was striking). This is all very charming and really rather refreshing, stentorian male professionals on more accessable outlets are usually quite hidebound about understanding these historical events and not very helpful. Here and there I do wonder about some of the interpretations of events, from my side of the pond the Republicans seemed rather uniformly ravenous about taking that disgusting old goat, Clinton, down but, again, I was more paying attention to the many insidious evils of Tony Blair over here. BTW if Michael wants to do his epic rant about Brexit, I, for one, would be delighted, although it might be lost amidst all the other epic rants about Brexit and/or incur the wrath of the UK's very own beloved, xenophobic, extremely right-wing fantasists, of which there are many. I would have thought that a Facebook page was needed for 'shares' but I might be showing my advanced years here and Twitter might be the venue you currently use, being youthful and all.... :) Highly recommended
