I love the topics Ella explores, how she makes it all easy to understand and that the episodes are not too long. Such an inspirational lady.

This brand is fantastic. Thanks to Ella and her guests I’ve learned a lot on my own wellness journey. But please stop with the sneak previews, they clog up my podcast feed and are no way to treat loyal subscribers. We can honestly wait until podcast day. If you do want to do a sneak preview, please do it via socials but not by dropping yet another non-episode in my podcast library.

I love this podcast/Ella and have been an avid follower for years and years but this new format I feel is so disappointing. Nowhere near as interesting as the specialist guests they used to bring on weekly. Sorry but these celebrity tell all stories are dull. Bring back your old format please.

I think the podcast has come a very long way. I have listened to ALL episodes and love how the format has changed and evolved. You have a natural way of teasing out brilliant insights and whilst I love all things wellness understanding how tools help and how they play out in the normal day to day for people, is I feel, as useful as having the highly regarded experts on. This format brings all the knowledge gained from last season to life. Thank you

Superficial and disappointing

Ella Mills occupies a position of extreme privilege that is very rarely acknowledged. Taking into account her influence, it is worrying that topics are covered here in such a superficial way and guests are almost always speaking from the white wealthy position. Very few guests are of colour, from diverse backgrounds or offering topics for discussion that are underpinned by solid, wide reaching research that would take the listener out of the narrowest ‘wellness’ echo chamber occupied by both Ella and her followers. If we’re not dismantling the systems inside which topics such as diet culture, calorie counting, fasting, ‘manifesting’ and others exist, then we are remaining part of the inherent problem. This podcast is a lazy attempt at entering an increasingly complex arena and seems to attract guests with an equally worrying lack of critical thinking. As so many other reviewers have commented here, this podcast is incredibly disappointing. The world is not only white and wealthy, and especially given where we are now politically and socially, these topics and guests feel tone deaf. I’d love Ella and the producers to take a break, consult a wider demographic, do their hard work and come back with something that can really tackle ‘wellness’ through a non-white, non-wealthy lens.

Loved the old version. This is just rich kids talking about how they ‘found themselves’ thanks to having the money to pay for therapy and a load of alternative therapies that most people can’t afford. Very unrelatable. No take aways.

Please go back to the old format!

See my review from 2020 below… sadly I don’t feel this way anymore! Everything feels a bit unnatural and forced. Way preferred it when you had experts on.
My absolute go-to podcast. Every episode inspires me, makes me feel a little less confused and motivates me to do the things I know I should be doing! Such a great pick-me-up & I genuinely believe this podcast has the power to change the world!

Long time listener and fan, and really disappointed in the new season format - just celebrities chatting to each other feels overdone and out of touch. I loved hearing from actual experts before - it was informative, interesting and educative. Please bring that back!

I’m a big fan of everything Deliciously Ella & this podcast has been my favourite for a long time but sadly the new format for season 9 with people’s personal stories, rather than experts giving advice isn’t for me. Really hope it reverts back to how it was for the next series.

I preferred the previous seasons with qualified experts.
Not keen on celebrity, or the upper class London network all endorsing each other, no thanks.
Don’t like the move towards spirituality, everyone has personal preferences on this.

I used to really love the podcast where you had topics and interviewed different people connected to each topic. I’m afraid I’m just not interested in hearing celebrity stories, which this new series seems to be, plus there are so many podcasts who already do that - I think what you had before was much more unique and helpful to normal non-celebrity people. :)

This podcast is literally life changing and transforming. I’ve been listening for about 3 years now and have learnt so much from Ella and her incredible guests. This podcast was part of what propelled me on my journey to become a health and wellness coach. I believe so much in the Deliciously Ella mission and vision and applaud the DE team for all their amazing work educating us on how to live a healthier, better life.

Each week each podcast gives me that little bit more guidance as to how I can improve mine & my families’ quality of life. I love how inspired I feel after listening to each insightful and informative podcast and how energised I feel. I look forward to taking my pup for a walk and listening to the podcast each week, which then spurs me on to go over to my Feel Better app to do my meal planner for the week (still work in progress 😂). Huge thank you for making a fantastic and inspiring resource accessible to the masses.

I way preferred the old formal of longer and more in depth interviews with the guests.
I really can’t stand the “fact or fad” section, I find it so superficial and lacking in nuance.
I was a big fan of old format so I hope they go back to that.

Latest episode with Dan

 –

2022-09-12
The latest ep with Dan was so full of contradictions, a black and white view of wellness and there were so many assumptions. Believe it or not there are plenty of people that can’t afford a few beans and grains at the supermarket, coming from America I don’t know why he would assume something like that. Food education - not everyone knows how to whip up the meals he is suggesting. All I got from him was privilege. Ella you were great as per usual, I just wish there was more discussion around his problematic points. Toast isn’t bad for you. That comes down to education and knowing what to eat. The list goes on. I had to stop listening, but look forward to your next ep.

Previous format was much better

I understand there is a brand to promote, snacks and books to sell…but the previous podcast managed to give lots of evidence information, in depth conversation and knowledge translation for listeners with experts. This format seems just chatting to people she knows for 20’, assuming we all know about the topic already. The GP opinions are again just opinions and it’s quite polarising to have a fad/fact format as there is much more nuance to every of those topics.
I would love for Ella to reconsider the format as previous podcasts were lush!

An improvement on the original series

Enjoyed the first few episodes of this new podcast series (under the new name). There is a lot less over talking from Ella and speaking over the guests which is a big improvement. However, the fact or fad section is not the best. Multiple publications, research and scientific findings support intermittent fasting but episode 1 concludes this as a ‘fad’. Based on most of the Deliciously Ella products being on the go items and essentially snacks, it’s no wonder the notion of snacking rather than fasting is encouraged which is a shame. Would be interested to hear more about episodes from this new series but definitely an improvement on the other series under the previous name.

Interview good but Fact/ Fad too superficial

 –
healthdoctor21

Enjoyed Michael Pollan as always but I felt the fact or fad segment was far too superficial and that you didn’t have time to go into the nuances of a long standing practice and a way that was natural to eat in the past. i felt the intermittent fasting study that was focused on gave a squewed picture. just one study comparing calorie controlled diet in an 8 hour or the normal chinese 10.5 hour eating window - took no account of the fact most people in the west eat in much longer windows so this isn’t really applicable - what about talking about insulin levels , how so many in the west and increasingly with the change in diet in the east have too high insulin levels and so are at risk of developing metabolic disorders. Really recommend The Obesity Code written by Dr Jason Fung, Fast feast Repeat by Gin Stephens and the Mark Matson paper in the New England Journal of Medicine Dec 2019 about the beneficial effects of autophagy with intermittent fasting - this way of life is not a weight loss diet it is a way to balance hormones and health with a side effect of weight loss. Felt this was a very superficial view of the research - it is very difficult to cover in such a short time Rangan Chatterjee has several really balanced podcasts about the subject as he has been able to cover it in a long form conversation - maybe think again about fact or fad section ??

Disappointing change of pace

I found this podcast at the beginning of the 2022 and went back and listened to several years worth of episodes. I was very much looking forward to it coming back.
I am however disappointed by the changes in format. I think the changes are a disservice to the interviewee, only giving a very light snapshot/overview rather than a really in depth chat that I found so enlightening previously. Also not enough background information for me, it felt assumed I new them, and their body of work.
I also don’t think the discussing of fads section works well as again, it is given such a small amount of time. It’s not by experts in the field. (Yes a GP but used to the info being from specialists) - frankly it sounds like people having a chat in their lunch break. Very anecdotal, and without discussing both sides of the science (which I what I was really looking forward to).
It seems to be much more of a ‘radio show/light entertainment’ concept now. Which sadly doesn’t serve me.
I loved the old content and I used to find myself learning so much from this podcast but found todays episode frustrating.
I have given 3 stars as I loved the old content so much but if the format continues I will very sadly not be listening.
The previous content I would have said was 5 stars.. even episodes on information not directly of interest to me were just great learning experiences.
