The weird energy of Nightvale, standing far too close for comfort.
In three episodes this podcast threatins to overtake Nightvale as my fav. The voice acting from Dane is pitch-perfect, and brings the uneasy, paranoied air that permiates this show to exactly the ambient tempreature of my skin so i can feel it bleeding into my from the outside.
To some extent how you react to this will be personal, and this show has a harmonic respnance with my paranoied manic depression, and the schizoaffective worldview of the friends I share with with, that even Nightvale cannot achieve. But to be neurotypical is not to be without access to this show. The story of young, damaged, self-destructive, queer people who care deeply about things outside of themselves whilst trying to insulate them from their feelings springs to mind.
Listen to this podcast. it is good!
update: so, it's finished, and I love it.
It's still really Murakami-ish, and dense and paranoied. Best listened to in headphones, pitch blackness, while you lie alone at night.
There were one or two episodes that felt a little fillery, which made it drag slightly when it when being relieased, but sitting to relisten to it all, that's not a problem.
Bring us the secodn season! :D
