I listened to this episode twice - once before and once after seeing the wonderful self portraits exhibition at the Royal Academy. It really added to the experience, so I’d highly recommend both. Other episodes have featured artists whose work I am less familiar with, but the excitement and passion that Russell and Robert have for their subject is really infectious, making every episode both informative and very entertaining :)

Michael Stipe is best episode they’ve done which considering some of the earlier ones were my favourites like Tracey Emin, Rose Wylie and Jamie Hawkesworth, is pretty good going. Such an uplifting, fun and surprisingly educational podcast. Amazing line-up of guest!! May this continue forever...

Can’t recommend this gem of a podcast enough. My word; the silky smooth, laidback tones of Robert Diament, mixed with the boundless, raw energy of Russell Tovey, both delivering education, insight and damn good guests, makes this a perfect podcast for experts and art plebs alike.

Since we sat down to listen to our first episode together which was an engaging and hilarious but richly informative introduction into the practice of Michael Craig-Martin, we have made sure to set aside time for Robert and Russell every week.

I am quite new to this amazing podcast and I have been binge listening and loving it. Great to hear two passionate people talking about something they love. Enhancements - 5 minutes each time talking about up and coming exhibitions. I know this is a podcast is for the world but they are UK based so why not reference stuff up and coming that they/we might want to see. Also mention ways to find the best stuff coming up eg Art Rabbit app - tell us about ways to discover things for those of us not in the know. Maybe review websites or art magazines. Finally maybe some discssion about what they like, how they discovered X, why they bought piece Y and who inspires them. Innovate and make it super superb. thanks Robert and Russell.

Talk Art is a constant source of education, exploration and inspiration for me. It is always wonderful to be introduced to new artists, hear about their experiences and learn more about their techniques and skills. It feels very inclusive and is a comfortable place to engage with and learn about art, which can be very overwhelming, even for somebody who loves it.

It is always refreshing and uplifting to hear about an artist before their recognition, where they lived, where they learned and the challenges they had to overcome to get to this point. I frequently need to be reminded that the path to success, in whatever form is entirely indirect and Talk Art always find fantastic guests and topics which provide that reassurance and in general, keep me company day to day. Thank you!

This is a brilliant podcast that takes you behind the curtain of the artworld. It always feels like eves dropping on a private conversation. The passion Russell and Robert have for art comes across in every sentence. These are two people who love art and want to share their passion. The best podcast on art out there.

Talk Art is my go to podcast for a long journey - engaging and amusing but also I always come away having learnt something new and been given something to think about.

Both Robert and Russell have their own knowledge and opinions on art and the world which encapsulates it. Paired with their wealth of connections this podcast offers an insight into a fascinating area. Having recently become a gallerist, I am finding every guest full of intrigue and have been opened to plenty of new art and information!

Petulant and pretentious - don’t know how the interviewers held it together, such a boring man, full of his own self importance. But great podcast none the less!

Oh god I’m sorry guys but I couldn’t bear it after a few minutes in with Billy childish.. riding on the back of the summer local Fete, the end of the pier exhibit.. what you doing asking a hang on the coat tails of emin guy about anything??? You’re better than this.. aim higher please.. that was arrogance and delusion personified.

They manage a good balance between seriousness and levity. They handle Billy Childish ( I think handle is better word than interview in this case ) very well. Keep them coming.

This podcast needs to continue forever, it’s wonderful.

My favourite thing to listen too whilst I am painting at the moment. Love Rob and Russell’s enthusiasm for art, and the guests are really interesting.

The only podcast I have ever listened to where I laugh out loud as if I were with friends. Also love the Margate undertone, more Margate please.

This podcast has single-handedly rekindled my interest in contemporary art after a few years in the wilderness. Approachable without being patronising, Russell and Robert provide a grounded yet nuanced perspective on topics that could be alienating and elitist. Great stuff!

I got into this podcast after hearing Russell on Art Matters. I’ve listened to all the episodes and eagerly await each new one. Great insight to the contemporary art scene and entertaining interviews; not a bad or dull one yet. Keep going please, it brightens my day when a new episode becomes available.

At last!!!! I’ve been waiting for an accessible and entertaining art podcast. Thank you Russell and Robert for doing this, your choice of guests is inspiring and surprising. Please please keep up the great work as I’m loving listening.

This episode was superb in many ways. It was great to hear Tracey Emin speaking relaxed and amongst friends. It gave a real insight to her as a person which can get lost sometimes with her reputation as one of the biggest artists of the last 20 years. The way they walked around the exhibition gave a great feeling, as if you were almost there with them. It’s the first one I’ve heard from the lads but I can’t wait to hear more. Tracey is awesome and I loved the whole thing.

I have just visited Tracey Emin’s exhibition while listening to your podcast. What a brilliant way to see it. Unstuffy, intelligent and very personal, I felt like she was taking me on my own personal tour. Really enjoying your podcasts, thanks guys.

Art, like wine, comes with its own language. In an effort to maintain exclusivity in a subject some people who claim to be knowledgeable about art often pepper their chat with pretentious terminology that serves only to alienate the less familiar consumer.

Rob and Russell are both phenomenally knowledgeable about contemporary art, but rather than freeze out anyone who might be interested in finding out more about it (and how to start collecting it), they have set out to democratise art chat for even the most uninitiated gallery visitor.

The duo are warm, erudite and witty. Their obvious rapport inspires you to look up the work, not to be intimated by a pressing the buzzer on a gallery and gives an insight into artists behind the work. They speak to a broad and impressive range of interviewees who are are united not necessarily by an encyclopaedic knowledge of art history, but by a genuine passion to enjoy art on their own terms.
