Description

Living Adventurously, with Alastair Humphreys, is the story of ordinary people choosing to live extraordinary lives.
Over the course of a month-long cycling journey, Alastair interviewed artists and chefs, students and pensioners, athletes and travellers. He wanted to discover what living adventurously means to different people, what universal obstacles stand in the way, and how each of these people took the first step to overcome them and begin their own fascinating journeys.

Loving it!

The first podcast series I’ve listened to. Having read Alastair’s books, I looked forward to this and am really enjoying it on my way to work. Only disappointment was when I had realised I had caught up on past episodes so now have to wait for the next! Alastair talks to some really interesting people. Certainly makes me think a lot about my own choices. Love the chatty nature of it.

Different adventure podcast

Like the twist on living Adventurously. Always thought podcasts about adventure can seem so out of reach, so nice to hear about Everyday people doing things a bit more exciting, and being ok with living “normal” lives!

Thoroughly engaging!

A fascinating insight in to the lives of so many different people delivered in a lovey informal friendly style. Not just interesting but also educational with lots of points that can be of help for anyone, regardless of whether they are interested in adventure in terms of “outdoor pursuits” or not.

Thoroughly enjoyed Clare’s podcast

It was like listening to myself- 27 myself, I found her inspiring. I resonated with her on so many levels. Especially about loving life and never having enough time in the day, week etc, to do all the amazing things life has to offer. Wish you all the best Clare, keep exploring, keep living your best life.
Look forward to listening to the others :)

Who doesn’t love Al?

I’ve read a lot of Al’s books, gifted some to my young nephew, and in return I’ve been a little more adventurous in my life. Everest can wait for now but my local fields and woods have nicely fit the bill. A nice podcast and who doesn’t like hearing people’s stories?

Living Adventurously

Love it, love it, love it. Inspirational stories from normal, everyday people that proves living adventurously doesn’t mean abandoning conventional life to live on the road or climb a huge mountain. Small adventures can bring just as much joy but also lead to great things and sometimes a change for the better 😁

I'm hooked!

I've only just found these and listened to my first one, an interview with Hetty Key. This was thoughtful, considered and a delight to listen to. I'll definitely be listening to the others!

Has great potential

And I like that he is interviewing people that are not known. Easy to listen to and interesting. Only 4 stars as I’d like the episodes to be a little longer and his interviewing skills still require some polishing but I’ve subscribed and I’m excited to watch the show grow

Brilliant!

This podcast has rapidly become one of my favourites. The format is simple and straightforward; however, Alistair is opening up a rich seam of material and I am finding the question ‘what is living adventurously’ compelling food for thought. More importantly, it’s making me get out of my box and kick-start a more adventure-filled life again! So a big thanks to you, Alistair, for doing this. Please keep them coming!

Continuing the theme of many of Alastairs books of recent years, this podcast is about finding the adventure in everyday life with everyday people. Absolutely brilliant, as always.

So nice to hear....

Having just listened to the first episode, so lovely to hear ‘normal’ folk talking about this subject! I could relate to everything she said about living Adventurously - especially not needing to travel far! I enjoyed listening to it while taking one of my rare quiet moments - knitting in a sunny window! Another great project Alistair - looking forward to more quiet moments to listen to this podcast!

Thought provoking and inspiring

I am a big fan of Al Humphreys and have not been disappointed by the podcast. He interviews ordinary people about how they lead an adventurous life. As with his microadventures, the lesson here that adventure is accessible and can be achievable. I love that he asks thought provoking questions that will make you consider your own adventurous life. Have a listen.

It’s very entertaining

Accessible adventuring

As ever, Alastair brings his affable charm to the question of how to get a bit more adventure into your life. For ordinary human beings, who are struggling with competing demands of work, social life, finances etc. Nothing intimidating- just good old fashioned blether about what excites people to stand on top of hills or swim in rivers, and how to make sure we get out and do it. Accessible inspiration for us mere mortals who are never going to run an ultra marathon, but might sleep out on a hill every so often, when we can fit it in with the rest of our busy lives. Top listen!

It’s like chatting with a friend!

I discovered this yesterday and have listened to all the available podcasts so far. I love it, and all the guests are great!
I do try to live a bit more adventurously than average, and encourage my kids to do the same, but it’s all within the boundaries of a typical 9-5 desk job, a family and a mortgage.
The chat in this podcast is just like talking to friends about planning new adventures - I love it!

As with everything that Alistair does, this new podcast is honest and fresh - and if his books are anything to go by, they will all be really interesting.

Thought provoking and inspiring

I listened to the first three episodes this evening, I can’t stop! It’s the first time I’ve ever listened to a podcast but I am totally hooked and I feel so inspired by all the wonderfully deep and thought provoking ideas discussed in each episode. I laughed out loud walking down the road and on the tube 😁
I am going to adopt the Mike’s Magic Moments of stillness whenever I head out on an adventure in the future ☺️

Slightly outdoorsy? Listen to this!

Not really a podcast person, but it didn’t even take the first half of the first episode to make me realise this was a podcast for me! Friendly and easy to listen to, if you spend any amount of time outdoors or are thinking of doing so - this is for you!

AWESOME! Can’t recommend enough

Hi Alister! (I know you’ll be reading this because I’ve followed you enough to know that you care lots about reviews and stuff!)
Well, where do I start (without sounding like a total weirdo). So basically I’m an avid follower of Al’s and have been for several years. I’ve ready his books and I’m obsessed with his idea of Microadventures and thanks to him I have been on LOTS of Microadventures and I love it! (Thanks Al!)
I also LOVE podcasts and have actually been really geeky and searched all over the podcast world to find ones where he’s talking on other peoples. And FINALLY now he’s made his own! HOORAY!
I’ve been listening to them back to back all day and they’re totally EPIC! He nailed it as I totally expected. I love his humility and honesty.
Keep being awesome!
Thank you.

A great way to ponder about, and how to appreciate today

I’m already on episode 5 and have really enjoyed the insight of (relatively) ordinary, interesting people sharing what makes them tick. It’s thought provoking and I love the balance of making the most of today in your own individual way, without being superhuman, which is very inspiring.
I would love to see the range of questions on the cards, as these would be fantastic topics for discussions with loved ones and friends, especially with the onset of a New Year soon! Can they be published?
