Description

I’ve spent over 20 years studying the emotions and experiences that bring meaning and purpose to our lives, and if there’s one thing I’ve learned it’s this: we are hardwired for connection, and connecting requires courage, vulnerability, and conversation. I want this to be a podcast that’s real, unpolished, honest, and reflects both the magic and the messiness of what it means to be human. Episodes will include conversations with the people who are teaching me, challenging me, confusing me, or maybe even ticking me off a little. I'll also have direct conversations with you about what I’m learning from new research, and we'll do some episodes dedicated to answering your questions. We don’t have to do life alone. We were never meant to.

Deeply sad about move to Spotify

This podcast literally helped me survive the pandemic— I was insufferable, recommending it to anyone who would listen. Now that it has moved to Spotify I feel such a sense of loss, it’s like I lost my church! Spotify has one of the worst user agreements as far as respecting privacy is concerned, I will not download that app. And listening to their content via the browser is an intentionally frustrating experience because they’re trying to force users to let them in so they can snoop on your web activity and location data, no thanks. I would gladly pay to the subscribe to the podcast if you used a platform that respected user privacy. As a wise woman once said, daring leaders are never silent about hard things.

Just listened to Brené’s interview with Melinda French Gates and count this as the best episode ever, and that’s saying something. So insightful and inspiring.
Would recommend men and women, girls and boys to listen to this one.
Kudos to Brené and team.

Actions dehumanising and accountability

There are moments in history when one must bow ones head down and simply weep for the murderous intent of those who killed five lives
Murder took place and riots that taken place in history in the past took with a toxic nazi theme
A new Hitler Trump style narrative where far right hater came out proud and murder was going happen and it did
What shocked me was the unpreparedness of the attack that DT had publicly declared he would do! And he did but will he be held accountable? Likely not he gotten away with so much more thus far
Accountable humans seem to be in short sipmm

So sad that it’s going to Spotify!

I’m so glad I’ve found this podcast, and am working my way through the earlier episodes. They are brilliant. I’ve just heard the two on apologising with Harriet Lerner and was blown away by them - understanding the self-esteem issue for non-apologisers was eye opening, as were other lessons. Thank you Brené, I’m so looking forward to hearing more.

You know you get that question, who would be your dinner date? Without sounding to intense and creepy It would be you every day. you’ve changed my world. I came from a very shaming, perfectionism never enough household and still as an adult live with the exhaustion of trying to break free from this curse I was put under as a child. I seem to have so many parallels to you, my Nan was my support my safe person and I also named my daughter after the her. I can ramble on with comparisons but I just wanted to know you’ve inspired me! I’m currently starting a podcast, getting my life coaching qualifications and most importantly I’ve changed and broken the behaviours I was taught as a child. My children no longer have to live under that immense pressure. I have you to thanks for that! Your awesome if you ever come to the U.K. I’ll be there! Thank you for giving me freedom. I have listened to quite a few podcasts and this is my favourite. Brene (podcast host) is wonderful, warm and knowledgable that it is very enjoyable and enlightening to be in her company. Great music. Conversations are in the deep end of the conversation swimming pool but you don’t feel fear that you can’t touch the bottom with your toes. Very authentic - I feel and learn and grow with each conversation. Much love from the Uk.

Sorry buy your laugh seems v fake. I know probably it is not, and you’re just trying a little bit too hard to be funny and please your guests, but I find it very annoying. I cannot stand it, and it is a shame as the guests are great, with smooth voices and fantastic intellects.
Sorry will unsubscribe. Best of luck.

I have been following Brené since I discovered her audiobook, the power of vulnerability, which is a recorded live series of her speech. I am not exaggerating when I say her books, her speech and her study has broadened my visions and helped me looked deeper within and discovered more about myself. This podcast is an extension of what she does. She continues to inspire me, heal me, comfort me and entertain through her witty, unapologetic laughs, and words of encouragement.

Wow. I have no words. I don’t normally write reviews but she just blew me away! I can’t think of anyone who I’ve listened to who has been more eloquent and thoughtful in the way they speak (apart from Barack Obama). Clearly she needs to run for president....

The episodes aren't always super relevant to me (as a Brit I don’t share all the cultural touch points). However, I’ve really enjoyed listening to many of them. Even ones where I haven’t really known the people (eg Sue Monk Kidd). Just listened to the episode with Ibram Kendi, the author of ‘how to be anti racist’. Fascinating discussion and what a charming guy. Loved his giggle especially ☺️ Bought the book off the back of it. Thanks Brene and team (and guests).

I love Brené. After reading one of her books I was hooked, I watched the Netflix documentary and when she announced the podcast I was so excited! And it hasn’t disappointed! This podcast is incredible, and I have recommended it to countless friends and family (I actually came here to forward the link...again)
Brenés episodes and guests she hosts give me words for the way I feel, and me realise that I’m not ‘crazy’.
I was compelled to write after seeing a review complaining about ads? Do you realise this podcast is free to listen to? And you can skip past the ads? I actually quite enjoy them, and have had amazing book recommendations for audible.
Believe me - if you’re wondering if you should give it a listen but reviews like that put you off, you’re REALLY missing out 💚
