The end of an era

The Athletic's Adam Hurrey is joined by Charlie Eccleshare and - in his final appearance - David Walker for the closing Adjudication Panel of the season.
Time: 1:00:19
The Athletic's Adam Hurrey is joined by Charlie Eccleshare and - in his final appearance - David Walker for the closing Adjudication Panel of the season. On the agenda: the Premier League's "Pure Referee's Name XI", a deep data dive on footballers' appearances on celebrity TV shows, the criteria for "waltzing through" a defence, a textbook end-of-season rallying cry from Sean Dyche and Richard Keys' Premier League predictions revisited.
Meanwhile, the panel decide who is and isn't allowed to be included in the "spine" of a team and enjoy David's best bits from his three years of the Clichés pod.

Unbelievable finds from the podcast - piecing together the puzzle of the century. Love the people, love the pod! But now it’s found, I think it’s bad news for the English pod. Will they be creative enough, will they be positive enough? ❤️

I’m not saying it’s the best podcast on the language of football. But it is in the top one.
Particularly enjoyed the Euro 2020 coverage as an alternative to the mainstream coverage.

One of the rare football pods which is generally very accurate, clever and always funny.
They keep the content pure and cliche related without falling in to the trap many others do where is becomes a pure and narcissistic ‘banter fest’. Keep it up Adam and the team!

The Tuesday podcast is excellent and is a highlight of the week (especially Keys and Gray corner). However, the Thursday interview style podcast is fairly boring and very repetitive. Scrap the chats with z listers & more Tuesday style pods

After 3 years consuming most the football podcasts out there. Football Ramble got dropped from rotation completely for Cliches to become the most anticipated of the lot. A real burst on the scene podcast

Been listening since Ep.1 having enjoyed Adam’s book, but the show has never really found it’s niche, unfortunately. Having stuck with it, finally gave up and clicked Unsubscribe after the frequent retreads of the same themes; namely nostalgia for 90s PL football and misguided fawning over Sky’s Sports clickbait style of sports coverage. The unseemly fetishising of Gray and Keys was the final straw. If I wanted to go on my weekly jog with a group of middle aged men who incorrectly believe that I have an interest in their Sunday League side or their Twitter bubble, that Sky is the “pinnacle” of sports broadcasting and football reached it’s peak in the 90s, I could go down the pub and find plenty of parochial fans who think they know something about the global game.

This is a brilliantly funny podcast and I’ve recommended it to a few friends and family.
However, only 4 stars instead of 5 because that Dominik Diamond is absolute garbage...
1. Posh boarding school educated guy trying to act all working class ☑️
2. Obviously made up story about priests scalping tickets☑️
3. Lazy stereotypes about Glasgow kids having foetal alcohol disorder☑️
4. Passing off the Alsatian in the car / fire story that has been heard millions of times and attributed to almost every club in the U.K. ☑️
Had to switch off halfway through (no I’m not a rangers fan)

Wondered how they would keep this going after the first few episodes, I need not have worried. One of the most refreshing additions to the world of football podcasts in years. Delightfully holding up a mirror to the quirks and absurdities that make football what it is. Keep up the fine work!

Adam and co. offer their critique of football’s foibles in a funny and informative manner. Range of topics keep it fresh and means the episodes are not lost to the context of the week they were recorded in, unlike other football pods.
