How to Be Curious is a podcast about what happens when you lean into life’s questions instead of dodging them. Hosted by Alan Rose, whose own year of fifty curiosity-fuelled challenges became a book, this series dives into the minds of people who’ve said yes — to big adventures, bold experiments, and surprising new chapters.
From Channel swimmers in their seventies to people who’ve changed careers, countries, or long-held beliefs, each guest offers a different answer to the same question:What might happen if you just got curious?
Whether you're looking for inspiration, insight, or just a nudge out of your rut, these stories will make you think differently — about courage, ageing, growth, and what’s still possible.
I listened to this as I have an interest in martial arts. This was an perceptive talk about a personal journey through different martial arts and career. Alan has a relaxed interview style and I will definitely be listening to his earlier Just Chatting Podcasts.

Outstanding
Great guests, great stories and great listening! Really enjoying these pods. Fascintating people with insightful lessons for us all to draw on. Whether it straighforward inspiration you're after (there's pletny of that) or a thought provoking trigger that gets you thinking about your own life choices. Alan nudges the conversation along with real warmth, never forgetting the guests are the stars. Excellent.

What great podcasts
Loving Alan’s interview style and the way he is really getting the interviewees to chat about themselves and talk about their various achievements! It’s addictive listening as each interviewee is so interesting!

Really enjoyed this podcast. Informative and inspirational at the same time. Looking forward to seeing who else Alan is going to interview as he knows everyone there is to know in triathlon.

An informal and relaxed interview by Alan with Kate Mason, who has achieved some pretty amazing things to date. What a great outlook on life and the way she approaches her events.
Looking forward to the next podcast.

Great new podcast to add to my sporting collection
I’m not the biggest sports fan - but I do love inspirational podcasts that keep me going with my personal training.
This was a no-brainer choice from the guy behind Just Racing, who looks after big events in numerous locations across the year (I’m booked in to run the Weymouth Half Marathon that he’s behind).
The charm of this series (so far) has been finding people with great stories to tell - and whether or not the actual discipline is of interest to me, the conversation runs so smoothly with great ‘nuggets’ to remember, that it actually opens up my mind to a different sporting style that I can apply to my interests.
And if I end up doing a personal best in the Weymouth Half Marathon this year, I’ll put it down to this podcast!
