Very atmospheric and informative podcast. The narrative almost makes you feel you are walking alongside. I have been to the battlefields a number of times and have learnt a great deal more from this fabulous podcast ..

Excellent FWW history and Accounts
Excellent two podcasts so far. Literally close you’re eyes, listen and you are transported there. Very well narrated with very descriptive walk throughs of First World War locations. Ep 2, I have been lucky enough to stand at the graves of the two RWF soldiers and hear this story first hand from Paul. Highly recommend a follow and subscribe.

A delight from start to finish.
A cracking podcast from one of the UK's best Great War historian. OK Im biased having worked with Paul on many TV documentaries about WW1 over the past 20 years. But thats my point, Paul's good, hes very good. His style is relaxed and confident, but its the sheer depth of his knowledge which shines through in this memorable podcast, coupled with wonderful personal anecdotes gathered over many days tramping the battlefields. Cant wait for the next episode!

The perfect podcast
Informative, emotive, accessible.
A successful author of battlefield guides, Paul has produced an enjoyable walk through the First World War using his wealth of experience and knowledge, gained through years of living on the Somme. Something for everyone interested in the FFW whether a newcomer or a seasoned traveller.

Master Storyteller
It’s not easy to differentiate Paul Reed’s ‘virtual walk’ on the Somme Battlefield from a walk that’s actually taking place, as he talks. As to be expected of him, lots of factual information but it’s the personal stories that are so interesting and work so well on this format. I look forward to hearing and learning from many more.

Old front lines.
As always with Paul the information given is clear and concise. The walk through the gates into the memorial and then onto Poziers village is absolutely spot on. It’s exactly like you’re there in person.

Accessible history
Enjoyed this very much. Full of anecdote, very knowledgeable and I really appreciate the method of presenting the information as if you are on a walking tour. Good mix of military and social history. Full marks to whoever thought of adding birdsong. Highly recommended.

Journey Along The Old Front Line
Absolutely stunning journey brought to life by Paul Reed / Military Historian. You can literally visualise the ground your walking over just by the narration, interspersed with stories of people he has met while exploring the battlefields.
