First, I will give a little history about me. I have been teaching Pilates for almost 10 years, and before that I completed an honours degree in Sport and Exercise Science.
I have always been fascinated by sport, movement and the wider impact that it has on your physical, mental and emotional health. When I first got into Pilates I, like so many others, was gripped by it in a way I couldn’t describe or put my finger on. Over the past decade I have dedicated myself to Pilates as my profession and the practice but always felt the training I’ve received and answers to questions I have has been unsatisfactory, that is until I discovered this podcast.
The podcast explores the position Pilates holds as part of a healthy life, the community that engages with it and the fact that Joseph Pilates created a method that, with the advent of Sport science and greater research, we are only now getting to grips with its influence and impact. This podcast dives into these topics and shatters a lot of myths in the industry in the best possible way, by showing the peer reviewed scientific literature to form a consensus on what is known, unknown, complex and just plain daft. How do I engage my core anyway?!! Keep up the good work team! For everyone else, listen to the podcast, but also read ‘Caged Lion’
