Infuriatingly poorly researched

Fascinating topic with loads of potential but it seems the hosts just pitch up without any preparation or considered questions and are unable to react intelligently to what their guests say.
Imagine interviewing someone like Ian Poulter and not even knowing if he’d done an autobiography, or even some basic background on his early golfing years so you can pose some pre thought out questions to get started.
I like Robbie and Mathew but listening to this just made me angry at their laziness, especially with this quality of guests.

Fascinating

Great podcast and definitely recommend, would of gave it a 5 if it wasn’t for Robbie being “fascinated” with everything, every other word is “fascinating”. Do love you though rob 😘

Fara Williams finale was insane - Robbie best interview of the season well done!

Excellent stuff

Great podcast. Matthew makes great points and Robbie adds humour. He doesn’t have to shoehorn that his son is at Manchester United’s academy or he was in the Class of ‘92 every podcast though!

Amazing guests

Really fascinating guests and insights to what it takes to succeed not just in sport but life! I would recommend it to anyone but especially young adults to be positive and not fear failure! Great work guys

Good listen

Listened to every episode of the first series with Fred and enjoying this one too. As the episodes go on it’s moving into something really good

Great interviews

I have listened to 3 of these podcasts so far: Robbie Williams, Brendan Rogers and Cesc Fabregas and they have all been fantastic listening and certainly changed my perceptions of them, particularly Robbie W who came across as far more of a deep thinker than I expected. Looking forward to listening to the rest!

Excellent podcast but would be much better without Mr Savage

I have really enjoyed listening to this podcast and Matthew Syed but Robbie Savage has to bring everything back to him in every podcast. If you could find a replacement for Robbie Savage I think you expand your listenership.

Tony Whelan

What a fantastic guest. Felt he constantly had to listen to the presenters talking and giving a monologue before the question. Let the guest be the star not the presenter.

Tony Whelan

What a great advert for youth football? I loved listening to Tony’s interview. You can hear the passion in his voice and how much it all means to him. Top guy and a Top coach. We need more inspirational coaches like this in Great Britian. Fantastic and fascinating interview. Well done 👏

Football heavy.. change record!

We are at the 9th episode and again we have another football coach.. the podcast is becoming very football heavy, with rio and Anton, Brendan, tony and of course Robbie asking his own questions which the normal listening audience have no interest in..many other sports played in the country apart from football. Would like to hear about the talent that’s needed in the likes of squash (nick matthew) darts (the power) athletics (team gb) then you got the likes of boxing (Ricky hitman).etc...
It doesn’t make for very interesting listening to hear about football coaches AGAIN. Change the record boys!!

Good Podcast but....

It’s a good podcast and both men are obviously interested and excited about their guests BUT Robbie spends too much time interrupting and trying to be funny. He lives in a world of unnecessary ‘banter’ when he should just let the moments sit and the conversation flow. His constant ‘friendly’ putting down of Matthew really distracts from what could and should be an enjoyable podcast BUT the Robbie show has made me switch off.

Review

I enjoyed this episode the most to date.
I was engaged in how Cecs went through his journey through football. I was delighted to hear how good he thought the facilities of English football. He is so right. How can clubs like Bournemouth compete in the PL? How has Foden and Maddison come through to be technical accomplished player like Fabregas. One factor has to be the facilities, structure and coaching being so good. No one gives the UK credit for this. In the media you hear how well other nations do at producing talent. Instead of internally reflecting and reviewing of how well we succeed at creating talent opportunities.

Great interview

Great interview, thought Stef was well spoken and honest. An inspiration to us all. Although sometimes funny, Robbie’s constant Micky taking of Matthew is starting to get a bit boring and ruins key moments of the pod.

Interesting but...

A really good podcast in a genre which is pretty competitive.
Brendan Rodgers episode was great and he said one thing about being a learner that Robbie should take on board because this felt like I was at times listening in on Robbie speaking to a careers advisor.
Matthew Syed is excellent, Robbie, enthusiastic and developing his own style of interviewing so I’m not going to be too critical. It’s a good listen.

Low Performance

I don't normally give negative feedback but.. I loved the original podcast format they did with Flintoff. But this new format is far to Similar to The High Performance Podcast. Which has put me off. It's not to my taste.

Fascinating listen

Really enjoyed all the episodes so far. Matthew and Robbie have a great chemistry and like the sporting diversity in their guests to date. Interesting to hear that many of the subjects weren’t sporting protégés as youngsters and whilst all the stories are different, there are consistent themes of dedication, unrelenting desire to succeed and bouncing back from setbacks. Keep it up guys!

Even if yo don’t do any sport it’s worth listening

My kids are still toddlers so it’s kind of irrelevant topics for me. However, i find this podcast very interesting and actually educational just by listening to people who achieved a lot. They usually have a lot to say! Listening to them makes me wish i was a teenager again so i would be more motivated to pursuit my sport further.

Tremendous !

An extremely insightful, funny, informative well structured podcast. To hear from people at the very top of their field imparting the knowledge that only a wealth of experience can provide, is invaluable.
As a parent to a very sporty son, i can relate to the struggles I have in trying to give him advice from my own experiences without being too pushy. I Will definitely get him to listen to all of the episodes to help him decide what path he wants to go down.
Thank you !

Judy Murray and Brendan Rogers

Two very interesting and entertaining podcasts. Brendan is a deep thinker, quite intense but incredibly ambitious; but why did he fail as Reading manager? Judy has huge emotional intelligence and a lovely, warm personality. Equally ambitious but with perhaps the confidence of having achieved the very best she could already. Fascinating coincidence that Matthew’s wife and my mother in law are both related to Stevie Chalmers. Great listening.

If it weren’t for Robbie

The Brendan Rodgers episode could have been AMAZING. But Savages garbled, self indulgent, childish nonsense spoilt it. And there the theme started.
Turf him and carry on with a great interviewer and great guests. That would be 5 star.

Great podcast

Very insightful and great analysis listening to the Brendan Rodgers episode and his coaching style, well done Syed and Savage! Advice to Robbie, hold back on the easy jokes it misses some great points which could be expanded on and where the conversation could’ve progressed. Although, I really did enjoy when you related to your academy team.
