The Speckled Band

Time: 37:59
Perhaps the most famous of all Sherlock Holmes adventures, The Speckled Band tells the story of a young bride-to-be whose sister was murdered. The case is especially remembered for showcasing Holmes's trademarked knack for reason and deduction. The listener is also treated to some touching insight into Dr. Watson's life outside of detective work, and a particular struggle he is currently facing.
The Speckled Band, an adaptation of the short story by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, stars RJ Bayley (Holmes), A.W. Miller (Dr. Watson), Mike Carnes (Dr. Ormsby), Stephanie Nemeth-Parker (Helen Stoner), and Nicole Swanson (Julia). Direction, adaptation, and sound design by Craig Hart. Music by Drew A. Forbes.

Get some REAL Arthur Conan Doyle content!

Aplogies for potentially irrelevant (to the READER) info in this review (but it informs part of my conclusions).
I am a huge fan of this type or genre of stories - ie 'Amateur (Gentleman or Lady, don't care which) Detective' story.
I would prefer content by the ACTUAL Authors & Inventors of the characters, rather than 'Alternative Authors' of 'Stories in the style of' the originals.
My favourite is Sherlock Holmes & Doctor Watson, but I also like Poirot & Miss Marple (both by Agatha Christie), as well as 'Lord Peter Wimsey', & another 'gentleman detective story' with a different character (he is helped along by his 'girlfreind' called Steve) who is actually female. I forget his name, as well as the Author. Very good stories!
Anyway, all FOUR Authors ('A-C-D', 'A-C', Dorothy L Sayers - the Lord Peter Whimsey Author, & the other whose name I forget) are equally good as each other in their own way.
Those 1930's - 1950's & onwards radio shows, were so much better than the garbage put out recently, I wish I had not bothered.
The (possibly American?) voice actors used in 'A Royal Scandal' content provided by 'LRT Media' (I presume NOT actually CREATED by LRT Media?), were terrible at creating an 'English' Accent, especially the woman who played 'Mrs Hudson', as was the actor who played the 'King' character.
They may have actually been British, for all I know or care, but the 'Sarf Landin' (South London) so called accent of 'Mrs Hudson' hurt my ears, as it was so bad.
The 'Bohemian' accent of the 'King', was possibly RELATIVELY accurate (or not) since I think Bohemia in Late 19th Century was where 'The Czech? Republic' (formerly Czechoslovakia) now exists.
The Republic of Slovakia & The Czech Republic ('Czechia'?) are or course now two independant countries.
AND there were a lot of 'Germanic' people in 'Bohemia' at that time (part of the 'German Kaisers Empire', possibly). That is IF Bohemia was either all of Czechoslovakia or just the western & southern part (Sudetenland?) I have no idea.
This 'version' of 'A Scandal in Bohemia' (by Arthur Conan Doyle) called 'A Royal Scandal' by some other writers is VERY short (far too short).
It is awful, pricipally because of the terrible accents (which totally ruins it, for me), not necessarily the actual words they spoke.
The above is just one example of many where Apple and or Amazon completely FAIL (mostly Amazon, though).
So why is it so difficult to get Apple or Amazon to understand what I am telling it, when I ask it something or give it a command?
I am British, & in the UK, so I do NOT want to hear a Spanish Language version of Sherlock Holmes (even if it IS a word for word translation from an ACTUAL Arthur Conan Doyle 'S/H & DrW' story!
Because I do NOT 'Ablo Espanol'!
I would like to hear good quality content with good quality audio, not some garbage that is so bad it should not or would not be actually broadcast on an radio station at all - except maybe at a time when MOST listeners would be ASLEEP, so would have to endure it!
