Beautiful tragic /true story that weaves from the present to past, uncovering by small layers the decades of pain that reside within one family of Three, as in title. Resonated as my childhood had similarities. What you are left with two divergent stories of two siblings and how each finds their redemption or hides from it. All the feelings of regret, sadness, anger of loss

Why is this a story?
Disclaimer: I’ve only listened to two episodes but I don’t get it. Why is this a story? Who cares?
Love listening to Nancy Updike though.

Touching
Tender, raw, emotive, tragic.
Not an extraordinary story but perhaps that’s the point. It could happen to any of us. The frustration that people you care about follow a different set of values which ultimately leads to tragedy.
I loved the gritty honesty portrayed here.
Give it it’s due. Well done folks.

A beautifully-told human story
People leaving negative reviews seem like they wanted this to be true crime but other recent seasons of Serial like Nice White Parents and The Trojan Horse Affair have departed from that significantly.
There’s something understated about this series that feels like even more of a departure. It wouldn’t have sustained 6 episodes and it isn’t a story on a grand scale but it’s emotional and timely and empathetic - a chronicle of familial love under extreme circumstances with no easy answers but a lot to think about.

Excellent lens on misinformation
I don’t get the bad reviews. This was an excellent story. Not everything needs to be a high octane murder or conspiracy.
Excellent lens on misinformation, beliefs, complex families, and how (in this case) it’s used by some powerless folk as a way of feeling powerful. And also a triumphant tale for women here, who were abused it still chose to help. Well done.

Well written but no punchline
The first episode was very promising, it sets the scene for a great story, but the story never gets there.
Would love to know why they thought this story was worthy of a miniseries? It is a tragedy but one that I think happens very often. It is characteristically well written but it should have been one of the sub-stories in one of the brilliant This American Life episodes.

Oooh a new Serial pod!
Except it’s mainly just one person reading hundreds of text messages out loud. This is not a thrilling narrative storytelling device - I’d rather read a days long SMS chat than have someone read them out verbatim.

Self indulgent
Not impressed with This show. Felt very self indulgent and meandering. It had no focus. Felt like half a show and needed more exploring of the themes.
