Welcome to the remarkable story of Future Hope!  This unique school, founded for street and slum children in Kolkata, India, has been transforming lives for more than 35 years.

Kids arrive with a history of unimaginable hardship; most are severely malnourished, many seriously abused. Here, through education and sport, children are given hope and the sort of opportunities their families never had.

But from humble beginnings in the late 1980s, Future Hope has been long, winding and eventful journey! The school was evicted twice in the early years while children, saved from the streets and stations, would often run away in the dead of night (only to invariably return).

Things almost came to a head for the founder, bank manager Tim Grandage. Eventually, he would quit his job to care for these kids and continue the adventure of a lifetime.

What a story he has to tell.

More than three decades of on-the-ground humanitarian work has grown Future Hope into a thriving school for more than 350 children who, invariably, will leave with bright futures; lives transformed.

Now Future Hope has released ambitious expansion plans; with the aim of helping even more children over a wider area. Can the school realise its dream?

This astonishing story, immersed in the sounds of one of the great cities of the world, is narrated by a former Future Hope student; Nikhat Khatun. It's first-hand evidence of the poverty-cycle being broken.
