For our first ever episode of 'Maybe In Another Generation', I had the absolute pleasure of sitting down with the number one Manchester City historian, Gary James.
There's a good chance that if you support Manchester City, you'll own at least one of his books.
He has written extensively on City since 1989, including Maine Men To Banana Citizens, Manchester, the Greatest City, and Farewell to Maine Road, aswell as the authorised history of Manchester Corinthians Ladies Football Club, and the authorised biographies of Joe Mercer, and Peter Barnes.
We walk through the highs and lows of 1984/85 season, culminating in that special day against Charlton Athletic. Gary also talks us through some of his away day experiences, against the backdrop of mounting football violence, and also how he went from a teenager on the terraces, to become a renowned author of over 20 books.
