I’ve been looking for a learning aid to help me relearn Spanish and mark and Kara are amazing together, clear and understandable. I’d recommend.

From absolute beginner to level B2.2 in less than a year.

I can’t thank Mark and his team enough for producing this exceptional series of podcasts. Thanks (almost exclusively) to coffee break spanish I have gone from being an absolute beginner to level B2.2 in less than a year.
I listen to the podcasts back to back when I am out walking and I have been so surprised at how much I have taken in.
I reached the final episode of Showtime Spanish today 😢. Very sad but excited to start season 4.
These are the best podcasts I have found for learning Spanish and I have recommended them to others learning the language. (I don’t know how they can manage without!)

I’ve started learning Spanish more times than I can count, using YouTube videos, books, worksheets... I’ve always failed/given up. I love CBS though and have stuck with it. The teacher/student set up is great and the Scots voices make a nice change from the usual English or American presenters you usually hear.

Great topics & tempo

I usually find it hard to push myself to learn on my own but this podcast has a brilliant structure, everything is broken down and explained very well, every episode has a bit of grammar, vocabulary, expressions, it's quite fun, the presenters are very likeable and 20mins is just as long as I can keep my attention span and not get exhausted.

I've really enjoyed the first seasons, but too much English in the advanced ones

I incredibly enjoyed the first seasons, but when I eventually decided to pay for season 4 in order to access the full content, I was partly disappointed by the amount of English used in each lesson. Too much translation, too much explaining in English rather than in Spanish.

Love this

I've always found it difficult learning languages. With coffee break Spanish, I've found learning the language so easy. Even my Spanish friend is impressed with the words I'm knowing. I have only just started so I'm wayyyyy at season 1. 😂 but thank you so much for the podcasts. I wouldn't know Spanish without them. ☺️❤️👌🏼

I highly recommend listening to coffee break Spanish. It has just the right balance of new grammar and vocabulary along with being fun, engaging and short enough to ensure that you can listen to 10 episode mistakes. I recommend using coffee break Spanish in conjunction with other top learning apps such as duo lingo, ANki, the Paul Noble Spanish series and Michel Thomas' series. Keep up the good work guys, y muchas gracias!

Still enjoying this series. We’re now at Episode 7. It’s fun following Rory and Maria’s exploits. Mark and Carmen explain things very well, and although I can never quite remember the clever phrases they use when I’m speaking Spanish myself, I’m definitely getting better, and most important, I’m motivated to continue to learn!

I have used the Radio Lingua Spanish resources for two years now, and they are fantastic. The free ones are great by themselves, but you can also pay to upgrade. The order for Spanish for a beginner is to start with the Coffee Break Spanish series, then Showtime Spanish, then Coffee break Spanish magazine, then the new fourth series. The Expresso series is a really useful supplement, but needs some knowledge of Spanish. Fantastic; Mark goes with me everywhere, and it is like having my own personal tutor. Love these programmes.

I'm in year 11 at school, and have 3 hours of Spanish a week. And I thought I would use this podcast to supplement my lessons as I'm keen to eventually become fluent in Spanish rather than just to get a GCSE. Seeing it was of "beginner" level I wasn't so sure it would benefit me much, but after a single episode, I've found it teaches me much that I don't already know from school, and the elements I do know, it's good to practice and revise - often translating the sentence myself. I believe as well now, this could actually teach me more than I learn in lessons, as its such a more immersive experience, feeling more in a Spanish environment and much like how that when you learn your first language - this is possibly the most effective way to pick up the new language. Finally, I tend to like to listen to these in bed and as well as it teaching me well, I also find it incredibly relaxing to listen to, his voice and the format is just very enjoyable to listen to and this helps the delivery of the information. Simply, this podcast really works and fairly soon will make you feel quite comfortable with the language as the format and the method of listening to the language spoken constantly is ideal.

Estupendo!

I have to say, I was very sceptical at first how helpful a podcast could be, but after 15 lessons, I'm really starting to feel like I know what I'm doing, and that is mainly down to Mark and Kara. The fact that Kara is learning along with you, gives you the feeling that you are learning with someone else, and not just listening to someone talking at you. At school, I was terrible at French, and never thought I would be able to learn another language, but after just 15 lessons, my Spanish level is about equal to what my French level was after 5 years of school. Even if this isn't going to turn you into a fluent speaker, it's certainly going to be enough to give you the basics to learn more in the future and it's definitely enough to get you by in any Spanish speaking country. I'm looking forward to the next 65 lessons or so and I'm already planning to learn French once I'm done with the Spanish. Highly, highly recommended.

Coffee Break Spanish (series 2) is a brilliant series of podcasts which are well paced yet challenging. This approach is inspiringly different (why it hasn't been adopted more widely I wonder?!). Both Mark and Kara have voices you won't tire of hearing and studying has been a joy. Mark (the main tutor) knows his stuff and has plenty of interesting little asides which stick in the mind and help smooth your understanding of the technical aspects of the language. Grammar and verb tables are hardly riveting study material but these podcasts make it so easy to learn. I'm returning to Spanish and am brushing up ahead of a degree course in modern languages. This series of podcasts has blown away the cobwebs and set me up perfectly to face the challenges of my degree.
Best of luck to those of you who go ahead and download these podcasts - you're in for a treat!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARK!

I am listening to these Spanish podcasts from the beginning as well as taking a beginners Spanish course. It really helps me to hear the words and phrases I am learning over and over again. I love how it's all broken down in bite size chunks as well. The little review at the start of each podcast as great as well as a reminder of what I should know.

I've come to this podcast with a little Spanish already, wanting to revise and then press on. Its format is excellent, and the pace just fine. I really like Mike's tongue-in-cheek cheesiness - at least I think it's tongue-in-cheek (apologies Mike if it isn't!). The podcasts put a lot of emphasis on pronunciation, which is good, and also explain why certain things are pronounced as they are - which is even better. Having Cara as the learner is a master-stroke, as you feel you are listening in, rather than being preached at. They keep up a lively dialogue too. I've subscribed to some of the extra materials, which I'm finding helpful when I'm not quite sure what the word Mike is saying in Spanish is - it really does help to see the written word sometimes. Well done!
