Censorship of artistic works

This would be a great podcast if we as listeners were deemed mature enough to hear the words the writers had written. But the publishers of this podcasts cut out any word they deem too much for us to hear.
It is constantly distracting. It's patronising and infantilised broadcasting.

I like librivox and the New Yorker's fiction podcast but I love this

Librivox gives stories and books in the public domain read by volunteers - this brings classic stories every week many of which are still in copyright, read by actors. Full of gems - well worth donating to and certainly worth subscribing to...

The Best Podcast Around

It would be difficult to over-emphasise how good this podcast is. The readers are excellent and there are a wide range of stories. I've never particularly enjoyed reading short stories, but hearing them brings out something extra. Some of the comic stories could be mistaken for a stand-up routine. Please try it and I'm sure that you'll be hooked.

An absolute gem!

I really cannot recommend this podcast enough, it really is unmissable. The business for audiobooks these days is expanding rapidly, and I can see why; I love listening to audiobooks on long walks because unlike 3 minute songs they have continuity and can keep my attention for so long I can forget how long I've been walking for. I was intruiged when I saw this podcast, but I have to admit the first minute or so did not impress me as it was mainly an advert for a coffee merchant and an explaination of the contents of the podcast, and frankly I thought if it was just going to be full of adverts I wasn't going to bother with it. I'm so glad I stuck through though; the first podcast I listened to was the Fiction into Film episode, and the two stories in it were so enchanting and really did make me laugh at times. The actors who read the stories have obviously rehearsed the pieces and they sound more like extended monologues than stories, there is a good deal of variation between the stories in the different podcasts which keep them fresh and the introducer spends some time discussing the pieces at the end of the readings which again I thought I wouldn't like but was just as enjoyable as the stories and incredibly revealing. It really is a wonderful podcast, I don't know how I could recommend it more!
