David Edmonds (Uehiro Centre, Oxford University) and Nigel Warburton (freelance philosopher/writer) interview top philosophers on a wide range of topics. Two books based on the series have been published by Oxford University Press. We are currently self-funding - donations very welcome via our website http://www.philosophybites.com
Orthodox blue church theology. Borderline insane. So stupid only an intellectual would believe it. Wouldn’t recommend.

Best podcast I’ve heard
I’ve listened to all their episodes at least 5 times. Fantastic stuff. Experts are invited to discuss what they know best. The questions are as good the answers. My absolute favourite podcast

Great podcast, thank you!
Although understanding the content can be challenging, the podcast is always thought provoking and a great way to keep my interest in philosophy alive.

Does what it says on the tin
Great podcast that's informative and helps break down big concepts into managable chunks. The guests are usually very interesting and the interviews flow well. Has really helped me get my head around ideas that would have previously left me mistifed.

Interesting discussions
I like the many voices and philosophies brought to the podcast.

Excellent, insightful
Everyone should listen to this. Really great, easy to follow introductions to so many different philosophical topics.

Amazing Intro to Philosophy of Time
I studied at Cambridge, where both Mellor and Huw Price were, but I never understood what was going on in the debate about the Philosophy of Time. (I even went to a talk by Price on the one-box v. two-box problem, but I still didn’t understand!) I only got an idea of what was going on after listen to the talks on Philosophy Bites. Thank you so much!

This is an excellent podcast which tackles complex subjects with an erudite manner

Great
Easy to listen to, lots of different topics, really interesting and informative.

Fantastic! But...
Have been a fan since the PBites site was created. However, how about some lengthier discussions?

Was helpful for a level

Food for thought
The podcast has achieved being short and clear while presenting what are usually considered complex philosophical questions

Great listening
A fascinating and thought-provoking series exploring a wonderful variety of topics. The guests are formidably intelligent and engaging, as are the splendid presenters. I love it!

Great philosophy for the common citizen like meSeasons 2011
I am great fan. Warburton set the standard of what communication of (popular) philosophy is about. I listened to a few other podcast on philosophy, but none attacks the problems the way host and guest of this program do.
It reminds me the work of DuSatoy in popularisation of history of math.
Particularly I encourage to listen the firsts seasons of the program.

Philosophy bites
Brilliant, always has been, but looks like that needs to be said again. Enjoyed recent bioethics interviews. Love the enthusiasm.

Important and delightful.
I return to these interviews from time to time and listen avidly.
They have the quality of those rare, pleasurable conversations that happen quite seldom in ordinary life, when new insights emerge and minds meet. The language is lucid and the topics are vital and varied. Thanks to Nigel and David for their generous project which brings so many stimulating ideas to the table in a concise format.

Not at all balanced
I was rather surprised when I listened to a couple of the philosophy bites podcasts. For although the information is presented clearly, and is easy to understand for the beginner, they do not properly attempt to bring in the 'other side of the argument'. This I find strange as they are often found to be talking about some fairly controversial topics. Because this is lacking, it ruins the whole thing really. For me, there is no comparison between this and Melvyn Bragg's 'In Our Time' which much better overall. In summary, I am very disappointed.

Glad I found these again
I used to listen to these on my old phone and couldnt remember what they were called. These are the very best examples of accessible, thought provoking, philosophical podcasts. I remember listening to one called 'What's wrong with killing?' ! How can you not download something with such a provocative title!! Very very good.

Excellent
Cannot recommend this enough. I am not a seasoned philosopher but they are accessible and intriguing, covering and helping cement many topics that have been buzzing around my head as I try to make sense of the world now I am considering life more in depth since having a family.

Great listening
The greatest podcast I've come across. Perfect length, long enough to be detailed without boring, and incredibly clear. Whether you know nothing about philosophy or are well versed in Plato you will gain much from these little gems. Each one has wonderfully articulate people talking in an easy-to-understand manner about interesting subjects, with a huge range of issues covered. Just when you think they've done it all, another comes along, like a discussion on 'Jesus as a philosopher'. Download now.

Excellent Podcast
I can't not recommend this podcast enough... Brilliant

Just try one.
With such a broad range of topics and a wide variety of guests the learning experience will never end. I have no idea where my interest in philosophy came from but I have started to study it at A level. This is a brilliant podcast and really lets me delve into areas of philosophy which my course does not cover. The interviewers and guests know the subject inside and out. My only complaint is that reading what they are about before downloading is difficult and it would be nice if they were grouped somehow, but seeing as this is more of a grumble about the hideous and impractical iTunes interface it really has nothing to do with the podcast.
I would say keep it up but I have only just discovered it, and there are 100's to choose from.
Many a bus journey will be spent expanding my mind in the future.
TL;dr can't recommend it highly enough.

Really great food for thought
These two guys have created a brilliantly simple, yet deeply affecting podcast here, with thoughtful, engaging ponderings which will leave you in thought for the rest of the day after listening. Keep this up, we all could use more thought in our day :)

Once bitten...
Interesting philosophical topics explored via insightful questioning of a wide range if interesting guests. Concepts are always fully explained and the excellent editing keeps things short and sweet. Clearly a labour of love to be enjoyed by everyone.

A wonderful podcast!
This is a fantastic podcast. Fascinating discussions with a broad range of living philosophers and teachers about all areas of philosophy and intellectual thought. Bite sized but a great taster for those who wish to delve deeper.

The best podcast I've come across
This podcast is both informative and interesting and act as a good partner to nigel warburton's other podcast "philosophy the classics"

Exellent
One of my favourite podcasts. Always thought provoking and covering many philosophical topics.
2009-06-22
The best podcast going? Just possibly
An excellent introduction to philosophy for the intrigued layperson. Each topic is presented in 15 minutes - just the right length for my daily commute! - and Nigel in particular does an excellent job as the interviewer, sometimes explaining the topic more carefully for the listeners' benefit, at others asking tough questions to keep the experts on their toes. A thought-provoking, mind-expanding, even life-changing podcast.

Wow, what a resource! And its FREE!!! As an undergraduate I find the podcasts, informative intelligent and priceless, a must for all those studying philosophy at all levels and anyone remotely interested in the subject.

A great snippet of introduction
This provides a great nugget of an idea to think about each week, with some of todays greatest philosophers discussing a huge range of topics from classical philosophers to modern ethical issues.

Philosophy does bite
Very good podcast. (keepin it short)
2008-12-14
Great
Looks at a very wide range of ideas simply great
2008-12-10
philosophy really does bite
philosophy is merely the intellectual self indulgence of protentious PhD graduates based on 'what ifs'. What if the world was a marble, what if a seal is a dog with flippers, what if philosophy is a waste of time? You'll find the answer to the latter in this podcast...
2008-11-29
Exceptional
If you had to explain to someone why the study of philosophy is important, direct them to this.
Recommend to anyone interested in politics, current affairs, law, ethics, scientific philosophy, human rights .. etc. etc.

Wonderful stuff - don't stop!
Extremely enjoyable podcast, excellent interviews of fluent, cogent and subtle thinkers. Will the transcipts be published at some point?

Philosophy Bites
The podcast is easy to listen to, presented well and keeps up a level of content that certinaly makes worth downloading the majority - if not all - of the episodes. The interviews flow well without dragging, and the questions asked are succinct yet interesting. I love listening to this, and without having studied philosophy officially, still find it easy to digest.
Very relaxing and englightening.

Thanks to David and Nigel
Essential listening for philosophers of any stripe. This is my kind of podcast. 5 stars.
